2-Sterne-Hotels in Präfektur Tochigi, Japan

Most of the reviews are outdated so I thought I'd give an updated review. For one thing, there is WiFi (I have informed the landlady that the website indicates otherwise). This place is a traditional-style inn. You'll be sleeping in a futon (some Google-fu should help you know how to use one), use two pairs of slippers (one for moving around the house, one exclusively for the toilet) and will also bathe in a Japanese-style shared bathroom. The front gate and bathroom close at 10pm, which is not an issue as everywhere in Nikko closes early and it's too dark to hike outdoors (in early Autumn). We loved using the onsen to relax after a day of strolling around and hiking, and the delicious Japanese-style breakfast was lovingly prepared by a friendly old granny. The premises are old but well-maintained. Toilets, bathroom and onsen were great but we were there during off-peak season so we didn't need to share so much. Should we return to Nikko, this place will be our first choice!

It was the perfect place for me to reset and refresh. The hostel is surrounded by beautiful nature and has a hot spring, just what I needed in a getaway from the big city. The common space is designed beautifully and has two very comfortable kitchens, big fridges, and everything you might need for a comfortable stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful, one night the hostel even arranged a hot pot dinner. First I stayed in a standard room but I ended up extending my stay here, this time in the women's only dormitory. Both the private room and the dormitory room were very comfortable and had everything I needed. Long walks was just what I needed but it looks like there's quite a lot to do around if you drive just a little bit, so I would recommend coming by car or renting one at the train station. I can't wait for my next visit here.

Sehr schöne und privates Unterteil, im Wesentlichen ein Minizimmer. Die Mitarbeiter waren freundlich. Hat 4 angemessen Größe Lockers aus der Front, die ein Leben für Gepäckspeicherung war vor dem Einchecken, um das Gebiet zu erkunden. Sehr nahe an einigen Hauptattraktionen, viel in der Spazierweiterung!

Went for work, staff wasn’t the nicest but were accommodating enough - the night staff was a little rude, but the morning staff the next day was kind enough. I had time to kill in the lobby, where there were free massage chairs, though they were a little beaten up. There were food and drink dispensers as well as a hot water heater and microwave for use. There are also public onsen style baths that I did not take advantage of, but they had many selections. The room I stayed in was nothing special, but was fine for the night I was staying. The location is not great but not terrible, as there is a supermarket nearby open until midnight My biggest piece of advice would be to rent a car if you are staying here; I took a cab then walked to the station the next day after my business in the area was done

Wir waren von einem älteren Paar gehostet, und seinen Familienmitgliedern. Sie waren super schatzlich, freundlich und freundlich. Es ist wie ihr kleines Familiengeschäft, der Erdgeschoss war ein westliches Restaurant, die zweite Etage nach vorn waren alle Gästezimmer. Sie kennen ein wenig Englisch, so dass die Kommunikation überhaupt keine Frage fühlt. Was wir von diesem Aufenthalt lieben, ist, dass im Gegensatz zu dem Zimmer mit herrlicher Seeblick, der Gastgeber war super hilfreich, um uns zu ermöglichen, unsere Gepäck mit ihnen auch vor unserer Eincheckung zu speichern. Außerdem bietet er uns sogar an, uns zum Waschgeschäft zu schicken, wenn wir ihn nur versehentlich über die Waschbecken fragen. Was mich wirklich am meisten überrascht, war, dass er uns sogar vom Waschgeschäft nach dem Ende nehmen. Kommt sicher wieder in diesen Ort, wenn ich in Nikko bin! Thumbs up! Super-Host!! 😁

Extrem großen Zimmer mit Badewanne. Guter Parkplatz. Diese Familienstöcke in Nikko empfehlen Sie stark.

Die Lage des Hotels ist sehr gut. Es liegt gegenüber von Tobu Nikko. In der Nähe gibt es einen Supermarkt. Das Zimmer ist ok. Wir hatten ein Doppelzimmer gebucht und teilten uns das Bad mit einem anderen Zimmer. Das Badezimmer und die Dusche sind ok. Möglicherweise müssen Sie den Raum kurz verlassen. Das Gebäude und der Eingang sehen vielleicht ein bisschen unheimlich aus (kein bisschen, es ist wirklich unheimlich 555555), aber es gibt einen Code, um durch die Tür zu gelangen.

What an amazing place to stay - Kas and his wife made us extremely welcome and provided excellent restaurant recommendations as well as places to visit. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the breakfast was excellent (with juice, yogurt, ham and omelette and fruit, plus toast and tea/coffee). The bedrooms are large and the bed are comfy. The shower was also super clean. It is uphill from Nikko Tobu station but you can easily get a taxi from the station for 1,000/1,100 (£5/6) which saves carrying the luggage. Short walk to Kirifuri waterfall which is beautiful and if you’re lucky you’ll get to see the monkeys along the way. I couldn’t recommend more highly and look forward to coming back in the future!

Familienhotel im japanischen Stil, 200 Meter vom JR-Bahnhof Nikko und 300 Meter vom Bahnhof Tobu Nikko entfernt. Die Besitzer sind zwei alte Ehepaare. Die Vermieterin empfing uns. Da es noch keine Zeit zum Einchecken war, verstaute sie zuerst unser Gepäck. Sie begrüßte uns herzlich und erklärte uns die Route zu den malerischen Orten und wo wir den Tourbus nehmen sollten. Sie gab uns auch ein kostenloses Frühstück für die nächste Tag, was sehr rücksichtsvoll war. Der Raum mit Tatami-Matten im zweiten Stock ist klein, aber sauber und hygienisch; der Duschraum und das Restaurant befinden sich im ersten Stock und alle notwendigen Einrichtungen sind vorhanden. Vielen Dank an die Chefin für die tausend Papierkraniche.

The guesthouse is quite a way from Nikko town (10-15 mins by bus / 1 hour walk) but is in a good location for getting to the shrines or to Lake Ashi - there's a bus stop close by. The guesthouse was homely and had 2 private onsen. Our room was comfortable enough although the en-suite was very tiny! The host was welcoming but didn't speak any English which meant we had to communicate by translating on our phones. We booked to have breakfast at the guesthouse, but didn't realise that for booking the dinner we needed to give 24 hours+ notice so missed out!
