I spent two nights in Tokyo Daiichi Hotel Tsuruoka and I would stay there again. The location is very good - ten minutes easy walk from Tsuruoka JR train station and it's directly connected to S-Mall, so you don't even have to go outside to access the shops and restaurants in the mall. There is also a bus terminal at the mall for local buses - I caught a bus from there to Mount Haguro. The bedroom was a good size for a Japanese business hotel with a good size desk and chair. However, I could only find one power socket! It's good that I brought a power strip! Typical of Japanese hotels with Onsen / Sentō the bathroom is small - most people would use the public bath facilities to shower. The hotel has a Japanese style bath, however it was in the annexe, so it was rather confusing the first time I tried to find it. Two of the baths were inaccessible - the door was locked. The main bath was okay, there is a sauna and cold plunge pool. The front desk were very polite, efficient and could speak basic English.

Really great hotel in Zao onsen. The location is easy to find and free parking for guest. The room is big and clean. I love the window in our room see the snow falling and small pond as well. We didn’t booking the dinner & breakfast so I don’t know the food taste. However, onsen is really great!! I love outdoor onsen that you can see the view of Zao mountain while bathing and snow falling to your head!! but just scare of bear. So nice to stayed here!

Woah! This is one of the best ryokans we've been to. The staff was super attentive and could speak some English, the rooms were amazing (see the photos!). Die Einheit im Zimmer war fantastisch, so dass wir nicht auf die öffentlichen oder privaten Einheiten nach unten gehen mussten. Das Hotel liegt 3 Minuten vom Busbahnhof entfernt und ist günstig in der Nähe von allem. Wir haben bei anderen ryokans geblieben, aber diese war Top-Notch! Wir empfehlen nachdrücklich, an diesem Ort zu bleiben und werden versuchen, wieder mit Freunden und Familie zu kommen. Oh! Das Essen war auch wow! Wir hatten Frühstück und Abendessen enthalten und das Sukiyaki Abendessen bot Yamagata A5 Fleisch, das zu sterben war. Das Frühstück war auch großartig!

Am Tag, an dem wir angemeldet wurden, wurde die Onson nicht angeboten, da der Heizgerät gebrochen war. Es war eine große Enttäuschung, da wir gerade lange Stunden von Tokio fahren und erwarteten, in Onson zu ruhen. Wenn das Hotel andere Onson-Ort oder Vochur bieten kann, wäre es schön. Aber wir fragten und es gab nichts. Das Frühstück war gut. Und die Nachtbar war eine besondere Idee.

We had an absolutely an amazing stay in Tedoso. First, the hot spring there is amazing. We had never felt so relaxed in a hot spring before. The hot water and the cold weather is completely in harmony. Second, the service is sooooooo nice. They always welcomed us and out in a lot more effort than they needed to. Third, the environment is astounding. The Japanese style and the room is way beyond our expectations. The hotel is so neat and delicate, which made us feel like we’re in a whole new world. Last, the food is spectacular. We had food ranging from big and juicy pieces of sukiyaki beef to nicely cut and flavored sashimi. Our experience at this hotel is exquisite, and the price is highly reasonable, our family highly recommend you to visit Tendoso and give it a try. I’m sure you and your family would have a remarkable experience.

Gelegen am oberen Rand eines Geschäftsgebäudes, das mit der Yamagata Station verbunden ist. Sie müssen sich nicht besorgt haben, auch wenn es schneit oder regnet. Ein Seitennote für Reisende aus dem heißen Klima, das Hotel bietet keine Klimaanlage im Winter. Stattdessen verfügt es über eine kleine Webbett-Anlage, die es außerhalb der Luft in das Zimmer fließen lässt. Dieses etwas kühlt das Zimmer. Aber während des Tages wird das Zimmer super heiß sein. Zunächst hatten wir ein Zimmer mit der Sonne und als wir angemeldet, ist das Zimmer super heiß. Rufen Sie den Kundenservice nur, um herauszufinden, dass sie im Winter keine Klimaanlage hatten und wir müssen einen Fan von ihnen mieten. Nach einer kleinen Kommunikation ist der Kundenservice genügend freundlich, um uns auf ein größeres Zimmer zu aktualisieren, das etwas kühler ist. Excellent location short walk from Yamagata station. A better location might be located on the east side of Yamagata station as there are more food and beverage and convenience stores available. Dated property but cozy and functional. A man made onsen within the property doesn’t hurt. We also had a rental car and overnight parking was ¥600. Complimentary breakfast however you must account for time and occupancy, we did not have time to enjoy it due to the lines. Service was top notch. Hotel was helpful with directions and translation. A senior lady went the extra mile to assist with contacting next hotel and even considered train timings as well as advising us to stay in Yamagata and not go early as there was nothing available in the next onsen town.

I was looking for a ryokan to stay during my vacation in Tohoku area of Japan and stumped upon this ryokan. It is located to a small onsen village of Yamagata prefecture. Traveling to this location is not so convenient as JR Rikuu East line has suspended its service. However JR East provides bus service instead. This ryokan is operated by Ogawaya family. They are very friendly and very attentive. They don’t speak English well but this not a big problem for me who cannot speak Japanese. They offer breakfast and dinner with additional cost but must be booked in advance. Location is not close to any big city. It is suitable ones who look for a quiet place to unwind. Highly recommended if you want to stay away from tourist areas.
