2-Sterne-Hotels in Gansu, China

I stayed in a 4-person room. The room was minimalist and medium-small, with lockers – basic but comfortable. The common area is stylish and inviting, with plenty of seating, cozy corners, plants, kettles, and power outlets, though it’s on a high floor with a glass ceiling – warm when hot, cozy when cold, and the few fans aren’t always enough. The staff at the desk were friendly, laundry facilities available, though no snacks or cold drinks. The area is urban, among regular buildings, so not particularly attractive from the outside, but within walking distance to the museum and the metro station, with a large supermarket and several food options nearby. Overall, a decent place to stay in Lanzhou.

We arrived at the accommodation when it was raining heavily. There were a lot of leaks from the roof, when we entered the room we simply saw that the mattress was completely wet as a result of the leak. We then moved to another room where there was a leak in the bathroom as well as a lot of dirt, including in the toilet. In the meantime, the girl at the desk honored us with a very tasty local watermelon. She apologized for the situation and moved us to another room. The next room was a huge room, I think it was their suite. The room itself was really comfortable and large, but it was simply full of spiders and cobwebs. We decided that we would still stay in the room despite its poor maintenance. They cleaned the room for us a little, but it didn't help, but we had no more strength to complain. We cleaned it ourselves so that the stay would be reasonable. It should be noted that the place only has a solar water heater, so on cloudy and rainy days there will be no hot water as happened to us on the day of arrival. We asked the staff in the evening for tomatoes and onions and they happily gave us them free of charge. This is noteworthy and thank you for that. It should be noted that the Didi does not always arrive at the accommodation location, they offer a paid shuttle, which is convenient. On the second day we went out to the dunes at sunrise, the guy at the desk insisted that we would be cold and gave us some kind of sand socks. Only when we returned did we realize that it was actually a fee of 20 for both of us (just like on the website, and much more than supermarkets in the area). We did not understand why we were not told that it was a fee, plus it looked used and did not come in a plastic wrap. Apart from this incident, the staff was nice and helped us with the shuttle (for a fee). The breakfast was great, and they tried to help us according to our vegetarianism. We wanted to extend our stay after cleaning the room ourselves and it was decent and good, but the price was high for us, which is perfectly fine and reasonable on their part, and we decided to leave.

This is an absolutely beautiful handmade property. The woodwork in it is just exceptional. What really makes this place special however are the owners who are so sweet, so helpful, and so accommodating. They helped us with absolutely everything we asked, and we’re sweet throughout.

A nice, quiet guest house in a serene rural setting, just a short distance from Maiji Shan caves. To reach this property it seems, one must find a way to get from Tianshui south station without arriving at the Visitor Centre via the shuttle bus. I did this, not realising that the Visitor centre is still about 11 km from the hotel, and needed to arrange for them to call the hotel to pick me from there - The owner was only too happy to do this, for which I was most grateful. In the vicinity of this property there aren't many dining or shopping options for groceries but good meals can be ordered at the guest house, so no problem. To access the grottoes the usual practice is to arrive by bus from the Visitor centre. From this property you could walk, however the owner shuttles guests to the site in her car. It's a good getaway for people looking for recreation away from a city.

Das Gefühl der Träume, das Gefühl der Wüste ist großartig! Die Wohnung im Wüsten ist zunächst die Landschaft. Die Landschaft der Wüste und der Berge ist nicht zu sagen. Obwohl sie unter den Fußen des Berges gesagt wird, ist es immer noch ein Gedankenschild. Es ist auch sehr gut, die freien Orte zu fotografieren, die uns geleitet haben, wie man den Sternenraum zu fotografieren und die Mobiltelefonunterstützung zu bieten, toll ps. I stayed in this hostel for a total of 5 nights, with two breaks when I went on tours outside of Lanzhou. I have put in reviews earlier, so this is my final for the hostel that had begun to feel like Home. The hostel itself is very comfortable a stay: clean, comfortable wide bed with sliding door for privacy, nice seating areas... It is run by a family who take turns staying over so that there is 24 hour reception. All are friendly and kind, especially the father. The parents don't speak English but you can easily use a translation app; other guests will probably interact with you. The location: it is situated about a 5 minute walk to the Yellow River Tower, and a further 10 minute walk to the Lanzhou Old Street area where there is an amazing array of food options. Just outside the hostel is a Halal (Muslim-run) restaurant called (Ruhua 如华）which the hostel owners say have been in operation for 20 or 30 years. The hand-pulled (手抓) mutton that I had there was fantastic, even though I am typically not a mutton eater --- the taste is a delicate and balanced mix of light spices (I could taste a hint of ginger, for example) and saltiness. And the 八宝茶 is also excellent. A 7 minute walk to the right after exiting the hostel (past the above -mentioned restaurant) to the main road where many buses ply, you will find another good mix of local food options, especially in the morning. The hostel is conveniently located near the Lanzhou West railway station. There is a bus 136 that runs just outside the hostel and gets you to the railway station in 20 minutes. Hope this helps someone deciding on where to stay in Lanzhou, since there doesn't seem such a good range of hostels. Dieses Aufenthaltserlebnis ist besonders gut! Die Hotelumgebung ist insgesamt sehr komfortabel, die Zimmer sind sauber und durchgängig, Licht und Soundtrennung sind sehr lobenswert [stark]. Der Service ist enthusiastisch und das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Schöne Roboter sind besonders schnell, kleine Süßigkeiten im Hall 🍬 Geschmack super gut, haben mehrere Kontinuierlich gegessen und Geschmack super. Die allgemeine Atmosphäre ist komfortabel und entspannt, die Details sind sehr benutzerfreundlich, es ist ein ruhiger und friedlicher Aufenthalt, stark empfohlen!!!

Unfortunately my experience wasn't good. Hot water didn't work, it was only warm. I did it in the afternoon anyway but ny boyfriend waited untill 11pm. Elettronic key of our room never worked. We always had to call someone to open our room. About water problem they said there was an issue in all the hotel and they can fix it the next morning. We could not find a standard queen bed room, they have queen room just very expensive and for cheaper price they have only twin rooms. We paied a full amount for the night we staied but we didn't have full 100% service we should receive from the booking. They suggest us a refund to change hotel but it was so late and we are travelling with bicycles, after a ride of 150km we were too tired to move in another location during the dark at 10pm. We just needed a hot shower and a bed to sleep. Finally we received a 100 cny caution back, and the next morning ladies at reception gave us 6 small bottle of water to apologize. I'm really upset about nobody advise us about water issue during check in, so there was still time to move in another accomodation, especially for elettronic key, I can't understand why it's never worked. Be carefull for next booking about rooms at 5th level. I don't know if it's a problem only for foreign people or for everyone. Room price list are very expensive so, I think they have not a bad service. Unfortunately it's the first time during my 32 years happened this, especially during my 27 days in China, all the issue where always well reserved. This time my experience was really stressful, I don't feel like to recommended it and I hope never happen again to other travelers. Thank you anyway.

Wir beschlossen, eine zweite Nacht zu bleiben, weil unsere Pläne geändert wurden. Das Personal war sehr auf unsere letzten Minuten wechseln zu können. Wir haben uns entschieden, in den Zelten wieder zu bleiben, die sich als billig und praktisch erwiesen, obwohl die gemeinsamen Toiletten in viel höherer Nachfrage waren

Wenn Sie Dunhuang zum Sternegucken besuchen, ist der Xingchui-Pavillon Ihre erste Wahl. 1. Lage: Hinter dem Mingsha-Berg, in einem Dorf gelegen, ist es ruhig und weist nur minimale Lichtverschmutzung auf. Taxis sind leicht erreichbar und das Ein- und Aussteigen ist einfach. Vor allem aber ist der Xingchui-Pavillon dank seiner hohen Bauweise der höchste in der Gegend. Nachts auf das Dach zu steigen und in den Sternenhimmel zu blicken, ist ein absolutes Vergnügen. 2. Zimmer: Das Zimmer war zwar nicht groß, aber sauber und hygienisch und bot eine angemessene Ausstattung. Die nach Ebenholz duftenden Toilettenartikel waren sehr geschmackvoll. 3. Service: Im Hotel fühlte ich mich wie bei einem alten Freund. Wir hatten uns ursprünglich für einen Kurs zur Sternenbeobachtung in der Wüste angemeldet, aber aufgrund der Wolkendecke an diesem Tag waren die Sterne völlig unsichtbar, sodass der Kurs abgesagt werden musste. Ich war sehr enttäuscht und wollte Dunhuang am nächsten Tag verlassen, doch das Hotel organisierte sofort einen kostenlosen Sternbeobachtungskurs für mich in der Privatunterkunft. Der Dozent, der Präsident des Astronomieclubs der Universität, gab meinem Sohn und mir eine persönliche Einführung in Astronomie und Sternbeobachtung. Er beantwortete viele seiner Fragen zum Universum, erweiterte seinen Horizont und führte ihn in die Astronomie ein. Wenn ich Dunhuang jemals wieder besuche, werde ich definitiv den Xingchui-Pavillon wählen! Dieses Mal werde ich mehrere Tage bleiben, um die Sterne und die Milchstraße zu beobachten.
