We arrived at the accommodation when it was raining heavily. There were a lot of leaks from the roof, when we entered the room we simply saw that the mattress was completely wet as a result of the leak. We then moved to another room where there was a leak in the bathroom as well as a lot of dirt, including in the toilet. In the meantime, the girl at the desk honored us with a very tasty local watermelon. She apologized for the situation and moved us to another room. The next room was a huge room, I think it was their suite. The room itself was really comfortable and large, but it was simply full of spiders and cobwebs. We decided that we would still stay in the room despite its poor maintenance. They cleaned the room for us a little, but it didn't help, but we had no more strength to complain. We cleaned it ourselves so that the stay would be reasonable. It should be noted that the place only has a solar water heater, so on cloudy and rainy days there will be no hot water as happened to us on the day of arrival. We asked the staff in the evening for tomatoes and onions and they happily gave us them free of charge. This is noteworthy and thank you for that. It should be noted that the Didi does not always arrive at the accommodation location, they offer a paid shuttle, which is convenient. On the second day we went out to the dunes at sunrise, the guy at the desk insisted that we would be cold and gave us some kind of sand socks. Only when we returned did we realize that it was actually a fee of 20 for both of us (just like on the website, and much more than supermarkets in the area). We did not understand why we were not told that it was a fee, plus it looked used and did not come in a plastic wrap. Apart from this incident, the staff was nice and helped us with the shuttle (for a fee). The breakfast was great, and they tried to help us according to our vegetarianism. We wanted to extend our stay after cleaning the room ourselves and it was decent and good, but the price was high for us, which is perfectly fine and reasonable on their part, and we decided to leave.

Der Empfang in dieser Unterkunft war mit Abstand der herzlichste und gastfreundlichste, den wir während unserer bisherigen Chinareise erlebt haben. Die Gastgeber haben sich sehr um uns gekümmert, und wir danken ihnen herzlich für ihre Hilfe und Freundlichkeit. Das Gästehaus ist mit seinen zeltartigen Zimmern unter dem Glasdach fantastisch, und das Haus ist in seinem traditionellen tibetischen Stil wirklich prächtig. Das Übernachtungserlebnis kann jedoch je nach den anderen Gästen im Gästehaus variieren, da die Zelte wenig Privatsphäre bieten und natürlich nicht schallisoliert sind. Mit respektvollen Menschen ist es ein wahres Vergnügen; mit lauten Menschen kann es lästig werden. Wir haben beides erlebt!

The train station basement had no internet connection so I was not able to get DiDi.  Not only did I overpay even after negotiating, but the driver spent the beginning part of the trip texting and I had to swing my arm across him as we were about to rear end another car.  20 minutes later arrival at Maiji Shan park entrance. The friendly owner was already there and immediately helped me with my bags.  A few minute drive to the expansive farmhouse.  I asked for a bowl of noodles which was hot and delicious provided by a grandmother woman. Chinese farm Breakfast was plentiful.  I used the heat as the mountains got cold quickly when the sun dropped.  The immaculate room was large with two double beds, a tv and desk.  The bathroom had integrated toilet and shower so it is wet.  Plenty of hot water tho the turn on was a matter of button pressing.  I learned something new!  Toiletries and paper towels (another first) were provided.  The owner took me to Maiji Shan.  Sadly, it was closed; rain had made rocks fall making it dangerous to climb the stairs. Nevertheless, I took some photos.  I tried to walk back (beautiful fall day), but the owner met me along the wayThe owner and I communicated via WeChat translator.  DIdi was not available and as we started for the train station the bus came behind us.  So the owner put me on it and I wrote via the app.  The bus drives very slowly but I got to the station to run back and forth with my bags, then going to a different floor to get a paper ticket, then back to the waiting area, thru the gate, up the stairs, and finally to my sleeper car.  Outside of asking me for my passport and various tickets about 10 times no personnel was particularly helpful tho I was noisily wheezing.  As I was getting off, Another passenger grabbed my bags and ran down the stairs with them and then went back to the train.  Probably someone in the medical field!  Platform smoking and between cars smoking can affect some people.

Lage: Hinter dem Mingsha-Berg, in einem Dorf gelegen, ist es ruhig und weist nur minimale Lichtverschmutzung auf. Taxis sind leicht erreichbar und das Ein- und Aussteigen ist einfach. Vor allem aber ist der Xingchui-Pavillon dank seiner hohen Bauweise der höchste in der Gegend. Nachts auf das Dach zu steigen und in den Sternenhimmel zu blicken, ist ein absolutes Vergnügen. 2. Zimmer: Das Zimmer war zwar nicht groß, aber sauber und hygienisch und bot eine angemessene Ausstattung. Die nach Ebenholz duftenden Toilettenartikel waren sehr geschmackvoll. 3. Service: Im Hotel fühlte ich mich wie bei einem alten Freund. Wir hatten uns ursprünglich für einen Kurs zur Sternenbeobachtung in der Wüste angemeldet, aber aufgrund der Wolkendecke an diesem Tag waren die Sterne völlig unsichtbar, sodass der Kurs abgesagt werden musste. Ich war sehr enttäuscht und wollte Dunhuang am nächsten Tag verlassen, doch das Hotel organisierte sofort einen kostenlosen Sternbeobachtungskurs für mich in der Privatunterkunft. Der Dozent, der Präsident des Astronomieclubs der Universität, gab meinem Sohn und mir eine persönliche Einführung in Astronomie und Sternbeobachtung. Er beantwortete viele seiner Fragen zum Universum, erweiterte seinen Horizont und führte ihn in die Astronomie ein. Wenn ich Dunhuang jemals wieder besuche, werde ich definitiv den Xingchui-Pavillon wählen! Dieses Mal werde ich mehrere Tage bleiben, um die Sterne und die Milchstraße zu beobachten.

Als Kette-Hotel, die Lage des Zimmers und die hygienische Reinigung und alle Arten von Zubehör sind einheitliche Standards. Es ist sicher, dass die Lage des Hotels die erste Wahl am Fußgängerstraßenmarkt gefällt. Nach 6 Uhr ist das Zimmer sehr heiß. Die Sound-Isolierung ist gut und hat keinen Einfluss auf die Ruhe.
