When I started planning our itinerary for our 15 day Yunnan holiday, I plotted out our path to go all the way up to Shangri-la, back down to Kunming and then to Jiaozi Snow Mountain and Dongchuan Red Land. Then I chanced upon a video of Aini Garden and fell in love! The only reason we came to Pu'er was to get to Aini. This was the first place I booked, and I really took a chance because it has a no cancellation policy and I really had to stick to the date once it was made. The initial pre-arrival experience was less than pleasant. I didn't know how we were going to get to the manor and my WeChat messages went unanswered. The hotel we stayed at in Pu'er finally got in touch with someone and got them to message me. I asked how we could get there and the answer was a curt ”take a taxi or charter a car”. No pleasantries of ”we look forward to seeing you” or offering to arrange a car. When we arrived, no one was at reception and no one came out. Our driver was so perplexed he wondered if we were in the right place and if the place was open. Finally a young girl came out and registered us in. There was an air of aloofness from everyone else. However, once we were checked in, things warmed up quickly. We were offered coffee and freshly cut papaya and had a nice introduction chat with the lady staff. The bedroom and bathroom is well appointed, spacious and comfortable. We would have enjoyed sitting on the balcony if the chairs were more comfortable. I love the floor to ceiling glass windows but the panel above the door should also be glass (it is just netting) so traffic sounds from the road actually comes through at night. I actually wanted to book the cottage in the hills but opted for the standard room in the main house because I was worried it would be cold. Big regret as it is actually magnificently located with stunning views. However take note that you will need to call for a buggy ride or make a 1km hike every time you want to eat or get to the main house. If you are self driving, no issues as you can park right next to the cottage. Anyway it's a small price to pay for an unlimited view of the milky way and seclusion. This is as close to a Ryokan experience as you can get in China, minus the hot springs. 3 days 2 nights of blissful, carefree living is not quite enough. They make sure they feed you well, with the freshest produce available for hotpot dinner and home-cooked Yunnanese dishes for lunch. There are so many activities organised, from taking you up the mountain for a glimpse of sunrise (with mountain goats for company ❤️) to coffee plantation education tour to horseback riding along the mountain ridges (the view is spectacular!) to scavenging for wild vegetables and fruits to drinking, dancing and singing around the campfire! So much to do, so little time! One area of improvement I personally would like to see is the coffee serving. They tend to be quite snobbish about how their coffee is taken. Neat, with nothing else. Asking for sugar or milk feels nearly scorned upon. Coffee is a versatile drink and can be savoured in a huge variety of ways. How else is Starbucks so successful? I felt kind of stifled and deprived because I love a good latte and had looked forward to enjoying an unlimited indulgence of coffee throughout our stay. Anyhow, I love the ecotourism efforts here. It feels natural and unpretentious. I love the people and the camaraderie they cultivate. I especially enjoyed talking to their consultant 敬梅, a beautiful lady with extensive knowledge in Yunnan culture and ecological progress. Also thank you to 徐芳 for arranging transport back to town and giving helpful recommendations. We hope to return again.

Lage: Die Lage des Hotels ist sehr gut im Gebet. Es ist sehr bequem, den Starlight-Nachtmarkt zu gehen, es gibt eine gewisse Entfernung und es ist nicht zu scharf, die Nacht zu verlassen. Es ist auch bequem, die Sammelstelle des Reisebusses in etwa zehn Minuten zu verlassen. Hygiene: Das Hotel ist sehr neu, das Zimmer ist auch sehr neu, der Dachpool ist gut aussehend, Sie können den großen Goldturm weit sehen und Sie können auch die überjährigen Feuerzeuge sehen. Dienst: Super unverschämt, jeden Morgen ausgehen und spielen, wird die Rezeption ermahnen, ob Sie das Gepäck mitbringen wollen, und die Rezeption wird zwei Schachteln von Gepäck mitbringen. Es ist auch sehr freundlich für Kinder, geben Sie die kleinen Kuchen. Insgesamt bin ich sehr zufrieden. Die Chefin und die Serviceschwestern sind sehr freundlich und enthusiastisch. Der bequemste Ort zum Übernachten in Shangri-La. Da das Wetter kalt ist, ist es nachts angenehmer, im Gasthaus zu bleiben. Verglichen mit der von anderen beworbenen Fußbodenheizung handelt es sich hier um eine echte Fußbodenheizung. Das Wohnumfeld ist nachts sehr ruhig und ich erhole mich erst am nächsten Tag gut, auch der Koch im Restaurant ist sehr zufrieden das Essen. Ich bin eher an Sichuan-Pfanne gewöhnt als an tibetisches Essen. Wenn ich in Zukunft mehr Urlaub habe, bleibe ich auf jeden Fall noch ein paar Tage. Dieses Mal hatte Shangri-La keine hohe Reflexion und der Test war erfolgreich. Hunde sind auch süß! Ganz in der Nähe des Napa Sea. Bequem zu Fuß zu den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln!

This is simply the best place to stay, to explore Lijiang Old Town and surrounding areas. * Overall - beautiful boutique hotel based on traditional Naxi architecture. Looks like a traditional inn, but is actually new and modern. * Rooms - spotlessly clean, with all modern facilities. Light contemporary decor. * Benefits - excellent breakfast, complimentary welcome drink, complimentary welcome fruit platter, complimentary afternoon tea & desserts, complimentary nightcap plum wine and light dessert. Daily complimentary laundry. Unlimited soft drinks in room fridge. * Service - this is where the Dublin really stands out. The best service we've experienced in China, and most likely the best ever. The staff all work as a well trained team to make you feel at home from the moment you check in. A special shout out to Xiao Du! * Location - Another great standout. Literally steps from the front door (next to the small restaurant on the right) there are a set of steps down to the canal. From there, just follow the canal to the Water Wheel and Lijiang Old Town north gate. Along the way is a large lively night market. You can also step down to the main road just outside and walk down a lively street full of food options. Pro Tip : Ask hotel staff how to get to the restaurant that is in the last picture below. Delicious Naxi food! Overall : Best value, best location and best service in Lijiang!

We stayed at the villa and had an amazing time, their location probably offered the best view of Yulong snow mountain and the rooms were clean, modern and super spacious. The most impressive part would be the amazing service. We usually don’t write reviews but this one really exceeded all our expectations. Every staff was kind, attentive and super helpful. They even offer hair washing service (you won’t find this anywhere else) Thank you 山海starts for making our stay so enjoyable, will definitely stay there again 😌 highly recommend!!!!!

Amazing place, amazing hotel, amazing view. The service provided is impeccable. The team is just 1 wechat away. Afternoon tea was really good. So was breakfast. No complaints really.. Apart from the usual village-wide power outages (but this affects the whole village, so it is not up to YEYU’s control). Loved every second spent here. Wish we could live here

My family and I stayed at the Cathay Old Town Palace Inn for 3 nights and all of us loved it! Prior to booking, we clarified some questions and the elder sister (Sunny) was so helpful and responsive, super patient and answered me every single questions I have asked. After clarifying our doubts, we decided to go ahead and book our stay with them and this is the best decision we have made! A few days before our stay and arrival, the younger brother (Summer) took over and assisted us. The road in the ancient town may be a little tough to walk on, especially with luggage. However, we got zero worries at all because they will arrange to help us with the luggages and even helped us to carry up all the way to the Inn entrance. When we first arrived, we are warmly welcomed by Sunny and Summer, as well as the pretty younger sister (who I didn’t managed to get her name). Summer then served us their local traditional tea and rose cake which was so delicious! Their breakfast (Mixian) was also very delicious, it was so heartwarming to eat during a cold weather. Subsequently, Summer also helped us to book day tours and shows when we requested for help. Also, we would like to say a big thank you to Summer who went extra mile to specially prepare such a pretty rose birthday cake for my mother! She was so happy and surprised by it and we all loved it too. The rooms are cleans and huge. As the ancient town is bustling till midnight, the room we stayed (near windows) might be able to hear some noise from the bars and streets but that doesn’t affect us that much in anyway as we are so tired by the end of the day. Needless to say, they are almost responsive at all times whenever I messaged them to ask something. Their service is really top notch and our whole family can vouch for it as we really enjoyed our stay here. The next time when we visit Lijiang again, we would definitely choose to return to this place to stay and will highly recommend it to our friends and family members. To those who are reading this review thinking if you should book this stay or not, please wait no more as you will definitely not regret your choice. Thank you to the Cathay Inn team once again! ⭐️

Words can’t even describe how great the level of hospitality we have received on this trip. It felt like China was so warm and welcoming, I want to introduce all my friends and family to visit Lijiang because of this experience. Shout out to one of the boss, Xiang Zi, he’s now our dear friend! I have booked 2 of the bigger rooms, the view was beautiful, well furnished, spacious and clean. The house keeping was good and trustworthy. The cafe has decent breakfast, the drinks are world class. I kid you not, the special drink menu is better than your CHAGEE, and I love CHAGEE. Their barista has been well trained, no wonder my husband speaks highly of the coffee he ordered. The inn also provide photography services, you can just engage their service and avoid the nearby big photography service. I find that outside photography is a scam. Paid about 1300yuan for the whole thing, only had 7 photoshopped photos and 30 other low res original photos. I don’t even like the photoshopped ones. We arrived late at night and had no problem getting to our beautiful room. There were ppl who helped us with our luggages, and we just walked 5mins to our cosy inn. The place is an ancient city, so you get to experience living in an ancient city, with modern furnishings. The view from the room is different and intriguing, the view at the cafe is romantic and calming. There are many hidden spots in this inn that we stayed in, every corner is a photo opportunity. The tea at the reception was the best I have ever tasted. Xiang Zi is a very cultured man, he makes tea, and he make sure everyone knows how to serve tea. We had so much fun here, we even extended another day here because of the owner. I highly recommend this place, not because I’m bias, but because for the price we paid, we have received toooooooo much. We are so grateful for everything for the team has done for us. From providing oxygen when we want to head up the mountain, to doing us a favour to help us to book the snow mountain tickets, to paying for our transport in advance, to helping us find our way and making sure we are safe. We are looking forward to host Xiang Zi when he visit Singapore!

Eine seltsame Lage, wenn man die 15 Minuten zu Fuß von der Metro direkt zum Flughafen in einem nachgebauten Einkaufszentrum zurücklegt. In der Lobby angekommen, ist es eine Oase der Ruhe und kultivierten Gelassenheit mit modernen Einrichtungen. Vom Haupteingang sind es nur zwanzig Schritte zu einem wunderschönen Platz im Zentrum von Kunming und zehn Minuten zu den belebten Food Courts und einigen großartigen Spezialitätenrestaurants, Bars und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten am Abend. Ein halbstündiger Spaziergang zum Green Lake und dem wichtigsten Zen-buddhistischen Tempel macht das Hotel zu einem großartigen Ort, um Kunming zu erkunden. Das Zimmer war kompakt, aber stilvoll und mit einer großartigen ebenerdigen Dusche und einem eigenen Bad sowie einem fabelhaften Fernseher mit allen Film- und Fernsehoptionen ausgestattet. Das Frühstück wird am Vortag ausgewählt und es gibt fünf Kombinationen, alle wunderschön und persönlich präsentiert, egal zu welcher Zeit Sie kommen. Vor allem sind die Hotelmitarbeiter wunderbar – trotz Sprachbarrieren haben sie sich alle Mühe gegeben, meine Bedürfnisse auf sehr höfliche, aber effiziente Weise zu erfüllen, einschließlich der Erklärung, wie der Fernseher funktioniert, und dem Wechseln der Fernbedienung, während ich weg war, da die Batterie eindeutig schwach war. Ich kann dieses Hotel wärmstens empfehlen, es bietet ein ausgezeichnetes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.
