Littledean House Hotel

Dark,and unwelcoming. Very low beams to my room and the room itself a single had 2 more low beams. No TV remote in room so had to ask. Curtains hanging on by literally one hook. Told on arrival that breakfast no longer served the following morning but directed to premises a 100 yards away. Room very outdated and basic. Shower freezing cold. Plumbing has a macerator… ok but obviously there’s others making the same noise at all hours. Lot of road noise. Would not return. No one seen about on leaving to mention these issues to as reception closed.

Too true, the soft bed & pillow was just what I needed, after along drive from Manchester & day in the Forest of Dean. On arrival, we were offered the services of the hotel, with the option of breakfast just down the road the following morning. The room was very clean with the facility of beverage, should one require it. The cost was very reasonable & if I would have joined the "locals" in the bar, I'm sure they would have been as convivial as the proprietor. All in all a restful night after a long day. ps. Ample parking at the rear of the hotel.

This is a super little pub with a lovely space out back, undercover bar & views. They dont serve food but you can eat close by. Rooms are standard but adequate & comfortable at a fair price. Host made me more than welcome & he is obviously investing in the pub, with all its quirky pub memorabilia. The Rugby was on when I went & we had free homemade sausage rolls.

The most amazing experience, 4 different rooms of immersive art set to music, loved it, suitable for all ages, recommend to all. Recommend at least 30 mins in each room, then go back & do it again. Each room was different, can't rate this highly enough.

Incredibly historic old hotel, parts of which are Jacobean. Yet despite this, it doesn’t feel half done at all. The bar is terrific with a contemporary twist which doesn’t detract from the ancientness of the place at all. My room was spotless and my bed soooooo comfortable it was a struggle to get out. I arrived late and it was snowing so didn’t get to appreciate quite where l was but, in the morning, the sun was blazing and the thaw was on and the view from the gardens behind the hotel are stunning and indeed, Littledean itself is nestled in the most beautiful location it’s hard to leave. Combined with the wonderful welcome and hospitality of the young lady behind the bar whose name l cannot remember l’m ashamed to say. Thoroughly recommend and l will most certainly be back. Lovely location and friendly staff, however the room was very noisy with running water and flushing from other rooms, loud enough to prevent me from sleeping and I'm half deaf.

Absolutely dreadful place . Told by front of house staff " kitchen and bar are closed on a Tuesday night and no breakfast on Wednesdays . The room was awful with peeling paint on tables and furniture . The bed was dreadfully lumpy with no support . The TV didn't work . 4 steps down directly after my rooms door . Hallways were badly lit and very dingy . Threadbare carpets everywhere. Rotten window frames .

A really lovely pub/hotel. We stayed in the middle of October. Our room was very well appointed for the cost. The bed was incredibly comfortable, more so than more expensive hotels that we have stayed in. The owner was very welcoming and accommodating and the pub friendly and cosy. Would highly recommend.

Hotel all locked up when we arrived to check in at ~5:30 on a Tuesday in the rain. Only option was to phone the number on the door (very poor signal in area) and was told someone would come to open up. About 15 mins later this happened and advised the owner had suddenly had to go to the hospital with her new-born baby, thus apologies. Provided with room key and where it was located, advised that no food available that evening nor any breakfast. Two of three restaurants a few miles away that were recommended were both found to be closed and third was quite expensive. Ended up in the Belfry 200yds down the road (see separate review). Room was OK with twin beds but also quite cold and no extra heating available with central heating turned off. Also quite an awkward room entry with 4 steps down into the room, especially when handling cases. Not the best experience for the first night of our staycation. On checking out next day did get help with cases as it was raining heavily.
