Dunkery Beacon Country House

Very friendly and helpful hosts, great room (suite), delicious breakfast all in a very quiet and beautiful location. Andy and Tanya go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible, with every detail thoughtfully considered.

This country house is in such a beautiful setting in a charming village close to Dunster, Porlock and Minehead. The house is stunning with fantastic views and it is so peaceful and quiet - perfect for a relaxing stay. My friend and I stayed in a twin bedded suite on the ground floor, it was absolutely immaculate, very spacious and the beds were super comfortable. Andy and Tanya, the hosts are so warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble, they will go out of their way to ensure guests have an enjoyable stay. The breakfast choice is amazing with all dietary requirements carefully provided for (I am gluten free and my friend is vegetarian!) The food is cooked and presented to absolute perfection and there was no need for lunch as we were way too full! We visited all the local sites including Porlock, Dunster Castle and village, Minehead, Allerford, Bossington and the wonderful Periwinkle Cottage Tea Rooms in Selworthy. We drove right up on to Exmoor National Park to enjoy the views and see the wild ponies and my friend enjoyed a wonderful 2 hour horse-ride at Pine Lodge, a local riding stables. Dunkery Beacon Country House is a gem of a place and you will not be disappointed. We enjoyed such a wonderfully relaxing stay and we will definitely return!

A very warm welcome and a lovely stay. Great views from our room which was spacious and comfortable. More than enough for breakfast too. Close to Dunster Porlock and Lynmouth. Ideal place to stay and explore Exmoor. Andy and Tanya were friendly hosts.

I cannot praise this hotel enough! What an absolute gem of a find! Free, convenient parking was followed by a short walk up to the front door. We were then greeted by the lovely owners who showed us to our room and even made us a pot of tea. The room was spotless, with it's own small lounge and very comfortable beds. The room was very quiet and had lovely views out of both windows. The hosts had even gone to the trouble of putting up a birthday banner and they kindly provided two bottles of bubbly for my wife's big birthday! Breakfast each day was also superb and was so good that we couldn't manage lunch at all! Free WIFI is also provided throughout the whole building, which is again spotless, comfortable and well equipped. The service throughout our stay was just incredible and we will definitely be returning!

A lovely luxury stay with everything we needed. We were very well looked after and wanted for nothing. The room was very well equipped, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was a real treat with local ingredients and lots of choice. We will certainly be back!

The house is in a perfect location to explore Exmoor and West Somerset while also serving as a quiet and peaceful retreat. We packed loads into our break, from Dunster Castle to the Tarr Steps and seeking out Exmoor ponies. Room very spacious with stunning views. Andy and Tanya are wonderful hosts and we hope to return soon.

What’s not to like! Lovely friendly hosts who run a spotless bed and breakfast, extremely comfortable with a wonderful breakfast , the whole place has a lovely ambience with fantastic views. Please try this place for yourselves you won’t be disappointed!

Andy and Tanya were great hosts, really looked after us. We arrived 08:30 the morning before we were supposed to and they made us breakfast and Tea. Great beer in the evening, beautiful location! Went riding in the hills and this was a great base for us Highly recommend this place

We had a wonderful few days staying in an extremely comfortable room with far-reaching views. Tanya and Andy are wonderful hosts; we had a last-minute change to our booking and they were very understanding and accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble. Lots to see and do in the area; an early morning walk up Dunkery Beacon was a highlight and Dunster and its castle are well worth a visit. Wootton Courtenay is delightful and everyone we met was so friendly - a small village with a big heart. Thank you Tanya and Andy for your kindness and wonderful hospitality. We hope to return!
