Tewkesbury Park

The nicest place we have ever stayed. The Duke of Somerset room had amazing views and the bed so was so comfy we both slept the whole night. Great bathroom with a big shower - and another great view!. Great breakfast. A big thanks to Chris and his friendly and professional staff. Book yourselves a stay here - you will not be disappointed! - and we will be back.

We booked a 3 night stay dinner, bed and breakfast. We wanted somewhere local but luxurious just to feel like a proper holiday. I have to say we were blown away by the location and the facilities at the hotel. It looks like it's had some real thought put into the design and decor and everything feels just right from the moment you check in. All the food was fantastic and deserving of the multiple awards they've received. You get a generous £40 per head allowance for your evening meals which we found was plenty for us but you may need to pay extra if you go for three courses. Breakfast is buffet-style and there is plenty of choice for all tastes using quality, local produce. We used the Spa and pool facilities every day and everything is clean and well laid out. The pool is about 12 metres in length and has about enough space for 4 people to swim if you are doing lengths. This is one bit where I would say a family with young children might struggle but you might have to pick a quiet time to take your kids swimming. The steam room is poolside but the spa (bubble) pool and sauna are outside. You might need a robe and sandals to use the outside facilities but they are under cover so you won't get cold or wet. We had a "Just Right" double room which had a great view looking over the last few holes of the golf course at the back of the hotel. It was more than big enough for us, the bed was huge as was the TV and everything we needed was there. The bathroom was compact but just big enough and the power shower was almost too powerful but you get used to it. One last thing to mention, and it's an important one. The staff were all superbly helpful and seemed HAPPY! It makes such a difference when you stay away from home and feel welcomed by the staff so we thank everyone we met for a superb break in a lovely hotel. Gary and Heidi

A brilliant golfing break. The men enjoyed the golf while the ladies shopped locally and enjoyed the hotels facilities. Excellent food, staff and organisation, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to Helen for her hospitality and professionalism while dealing with our societies requirements. She is a credit to the beautiful hotel.

A wonderful stay taking advantage of the foodie break offer. Tasting menu was wonderful, the Spa was really nice and the room was lovely, particularly as the hotel upgraded us. It was our anniversary and there were lovely touches from the hotel like a card and happy anniversary written in chocolate sauce on my other half’s dessert plate. Really thoughtful and made the occasion very special for us.

Extremely accommodating at very short notice! Friendly, efficient and knowledgeable staff throughout the hotel. Set in beautiful parkland, the views from the rooms are superb. Great food in the restaurant - both for dinner and breakfast.

What an amazing hotel. We stayed in the Richard III suit which is possibly the nicest room we’ve stayed in. Huge room, bathroom with tv, view over Malvern hills and the stunning golf course. The breakfast was vast, varied and delicious and the evening meal just as much. The steak was the best I’ve ever eaten. The staff are friendly and helpful and the bed comfortable. We also used the swimming pool and sauna and steam room, which was good but didn’t have any treatments or use the gym

I would say the hotel exceeded our expectations from the moment we arrived. Beautifully decorated and modern but classy throughout. We were shown to our upgraded room overlooking the golf course as soon as we checked in. The spa area is fantastic and we were amazed how quiet it was for the school holiday period. Loved the outdoor area including the jacuzzi, loungers and outdoor sauna pod. The male on the spa reception was not welcoming at all unfortunately and seemed to be in a foul mood. Barely looked at us and a random member of the public showed me the way to the changing rooms whoever you are thank you! After a lovely relax we had a nice meal included in our dinner bed and breakfast meal. The female head of staff on our evening (Asian) was totally on the ball thank you. Some of the younger staff not so. We enjoyed . Lovely breakfast the following morning followed by afternoon tea the following day. We sat outside and asked for a drinks menu. The gentleman never came back to ask if everything was ok or whether we wanted to actually order drinks so this was a missed opportunity for the hotel. Apart from these small ******* we would 100% revisit and the midweek 2 night deal represents fantastic value for money. It really is immaculate and well kept and every little detail is thought out . Housekeeping staff are at tentative and amazing! Some staff better than others which is quite normal. The bed was so comfortable and for us the hotel was so peaceful. We walked into town in the evening as we wanted a bit more of an atmosphere which is something a hotel bar can’t always provide .

We stopped at Tewkesbury Park on a special Sparkling Break package, but also booked the Sunday Brunch which we took on arrival. I very rarely write reviews, but when I do, I’m always careful to be fair and constructive. Overall, we had a nice stay at Tewkesbury Park, but it could’ve been amazing. They have everything in place to provide you with the perfect stay and whereas some aspects are wonderful, other aspects just left us frustrated. We took the brunch first and whilst on paper it sounded incredible, we found it a little disjointed and poor value for money. The food is actually ok, but the choices are quite limited and at £60 per couple (including the sweet station) we wouldn’t entertain the idea of doing it again. It’s no wonder it wasn’t very busy. As a brunch, it was neither breakfast nor lunch and we found the food choices a little odd. In terms of breakfast there was bacon, sausage and hash browns ...but that’s it. There were no fried or scrambled eggs, no roasted tomatoes or mushrooms and I’m afraid to say the bacon, which was sat on a hot plate, was dry, chewy and not very warm. There was a guy stood at a poached egg station, so I decided to build my own eggs benedict ...but, I didn’t enjoy it at all. There were split English muffins and slices of ham, so I asked for a couple of poached eggs, placed them on top of the ham and topped them with the provided hollandaise sauce. However, the sauce was the kind you get out of a jar and it was thick, cold and wouldn’t sit on the eggs, it just slid off in a cold lump. For lunch there were salad items, BBQ chicken bao buns and some Indian inspired dishes and I just found the whole ensemble to be quite odd. The brunch failed to hit the mark and is ridiculously expensive for what it is. I expected to see some Danish pastries (which are perfectly suited to a ‘brunch’) but there weren’t any. There is a sweet station however, but it’s worth noting that it’s an extra £10 for this on top of the £20 for the savoury items. I had a glass which had chocolate cake, berries and cream inside (much like a trifle) and 3 marshmallows dipped in the chocolate fountain …but it just wasn’t worth it. The truth of the matter is, it could be fantastic and done properly it could be Tewkesbury Park’s signature dining experience and fully booked every single week. If you want to charge a premium, fine …but make sure that you’re providing a premium dining experience that warrants the cost. The whole thing needs refining with a wider variety of dishes. You don’t even need the sweet items to be available on a separate ticket, if the whole experience is worth it, people will pay it. To maintain a little perspective, I can go to the breakfast buffet at my local Beefeater and have every single hot breakfast item you can think of, along with cereals, pastries, muffins, fresh fruit, yogurts, crumpets, pancakes, toast, juices, tea and coffees for £10 per person. Visited for lunch on 28/4; it was described as “brunch”. Effectively a self service buffet. Good range of dishes although not very fast at replenishing! Plus a poached egg station. Service was fine, pleasant background music, nice view over the golf course. Brunch is £20’per head with desserts £10 extra.
