I'll preface by saying titanium with Bonvoy so lots of experience of Marriotts. Check in was OK, room large enough but very weird for this type of hotel no closet, just an open rail. There was a drawer unit though. Location is only good for the beach area, naval museum, etc though they do have a shuttle (bear in mind Mon- Fri only). The real issue with the hotel is the food and beverage services. They cater to cruise ships (viking when we were there) and breakfast is all but unbearable. we tried pre 8, 8, 9 and even 9.30 but always absolutely rammed. No space between the tables and near impossible to walk round the buffet as so close together if people getting bread on other side can't pass. The food was also hit and miss - eggs to order were not met graciously and most other food was verging on cold - amazing idea re hash browns with grated potato and pomme dauphinoise style cream seasoning but at room temperature not so good. even asking for an expresso was a challenge. The club lounge (you can pay extra or have with status) was not great - a soda machine with very limited choice (also where water came from so can't take any to your room) and on 3 occassions soda was flat. The happy hour place was rammed (lots of kids) only red, white wine or beer and the wine was not good. Snacks again hit and miss e.g. lovely chicken nuggets homemade but frozen fish fingers when by the sea. Anyway this was where the incident occured that made me consider 1 star. I've never witnessed such poor service. A young man (late teens), his family later advised he was autistic, became unwell and was sick. Unpleasant I know but clearly just a complete accident. The member of staff was rude and agressive to the mother who was trying very hard to apologise and remove her son. The whole situation was handled appaulingly. A manager did come later and ask the family if they could send something to the room but honestly too little, too late.
