This was a nice, comfortable place to stay, but we felt quite isolated without having our own transportation. It's a long way to the nearest town. You can take the Stagecoach bus service into Keswick, but it stops running around 6 p.m. on Sunday evenings. The food quality at the Castle Inn restaurant (evening meals) is average, but the service is excellent. I had fish and chips several times during my 17 days in the U.K., but the offering at the Castle Inn was poorest of the lot. The breakfast buffet is quite good, though. The hotel is a large, sprawling complex. It's actually somewhat difficult to find your room. The numbering system doesn't make much sense. For example, room 39 is next to room 21. The outside seating areas are gorgeous. It's a great place to grab a book and have some peace and tranquility. There is a nice swimming pool and even a lawn tennis court. You can ask the front desk for a racquet and balls.
