Really warm welcome from whom i believe was the manager and very apologetic as we arrived late so noone was at the desk (understandable). The hotel was lovely, the rooms were really nice. The manager had abit banter with out son which was really great to see. ”My son complained to him about our TV control not working” ( we wernt really bothered avout the TV) but the manager got it sorted straight away and a lovely woman came and changed the batteries and it started working. The swimming pool was lovely and warm whoch we thoroughly enjoyed. Would deffo stay again.

The Hotel was ideally located to Rail Station, Shops & places of interest. Room was clean and well equipped. Breakfast was brilliant. Plenty of choice and freshly cooked. Hotel had Gym facilities, although I did not use them they were there. And most important it had Car Parking which is quite rare. Would certainly stay there again and recommend to others.

We have stayed here several times and fed back to managers about the poor state of the tables & chairs in the breakfast area. Although my feedback (with photos) was not acknowledged, on our last visit just before xmas, we noticed the badly stained and chipped tables had been replaced or refurbished, and the badly stained and dirty seating had been cleaned and/or replaced, so that it now feels comfortable to sit on them. So I'm pleased my feedback may have contributed to these much needed changes. However the window frames in our room were in a terrible state, covered in black mould and in desperate need of repair or replacement. Not a healthy presence to have anywhere. So hopefully this review will be seen by the right person/people and acted upon.

Photo of Standard Room (a double bed and a sofa bed) does not match the actual room (2 single beds). Loud noise from the roads even when the window is shut. I requested for a room change but was told the hotel was fully booked.

Schöner Nachtaufenthalt, komfortable Betten, großartig Frühstück. Kann mit mehr Tee/Trinkmöglichkeiten im Zimmer gemacht werden. Wir genossen die Freizeiteinrichtungen.

Das Bett war schrecklich hatte eine schreckliche Nacht die Matrix war so verkleidet es vollständig zusammen, als ich auf dem Bett saß. Als ich es an die Empfangsbestätigung berichtete, informierte die Dame mich, dass sie ersetzt wurden, aber für uns nicht bald genug! Sadley wie alles andere war ok

The hotel is nicely located, within walking distance of the Cathedral. There are also numerous shops nearby for your basic needs and a wide variety of restaurants. The staff are friendly, and the breakfast is probably one of the best we’ve had anywhere. The pub is definitely a highlight for drinks and gatherings. However, the amenities are old. The door handles and locks don't seem to be secure. The toilet has good running cold and hot water, but they are just too old. But for its size, location and price, it’s still worth it! Just thought of it as staying in an antique house with a lot of history!

Das Boot Inn ist ein alter traditioneller Pub und die Lage ist sehr ruhig. Ich konnte unseren Aufenthalt nicht verfehlen. Das Zimmer war geräumig und sauber, die Dusche war gut, und die Zimmerausstattung (Tee, Kaffee und Kuchen) waren auch gut. Das Essen, das wir hatten, war ausgezeichnet wie das Frühstück. Eine kleine Sache ist, dass, nachdem ich eine lange, heiße Fahrt hatte, ich war auf eine schöne Pinte von bitter, aber sie hatten nur einen Zitrushopfbräum, auf dem ich nicht gern bin. Ich hätte jedoch Guinness haben können. Würde ich noch einmal dort bleiben? Absolut! Würde ich noch mal dort essen? Absolut!

Schönes Hotel, sicher wieder bleiben, aber nicht in dem Zimmer, das mir gegeben wurde, Ich hatte e-mailt und im Voraus für einen unteren Stock angerufen, da ich 2 Miniatur-Dachhunds habe, Ich war sehr überrascht, am sehr oben von 6 Flugen von Treppen ohne Aufzug zu sein ! Rechtssaal nächstes Mal .

A beautiful location with stunning views. The hotel interior was a perfect mix of traditional and contemporary. Our room was right at the top of the building and, although very small, it was well designed and very clean. The service was excellent and the staff couldn't do enough to help you. We had dinner in the bar, which was tasty and arrived quickly and hot! All in all, The Cottage in the Woods is a perfect place for a quiet break with a little luxury. We will definitely be returning.
