Wir blieben im oberen Stock (7/F) mit Blick auf die Kirche und einen Platz. Zimmer ist sauber und der Tube ist groß. Frühstück ist gut mit einer Vielzahl von Brot und frischem Obst. Sie können auch Ihre eigenen Mini-Pancakes machen. Die Lage ist perfekt in der Stadtzentrum in der Nähe der Bahnhof. Es gibt viele Restaurants und sushi Bars in der Nähe. Auf dem Erdgeschoss des Hotels gibt es ein pub, wo man ein Bier bei ca. 90 SK fangen kann. Das ist mein zweites Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel.

Obwohl es ”zentral” sein soll, erfordert es von einem Viertel bis zwanzig Minuten zu Fuß, um den sehr zentralen Teil der Stadt zu erreichen. Allerdings ist es natürlich nicht in den Randgebieten. Das Hotel ist geräumig und hat viele Zimmer in verschiedenen Flügeln zu bieten. Die Rezeption ist willkommen und das Personal professionell und freundlich. Das Zimmer, das ich hatte, war perfekt groß, mit allen notwendigen Essenzen. Ein gutes Schreibtisch, einen Rüstchen, Platz für Jacken, der Tasche. Von dem, was ich mich erinnern konnte, war der Schrank sehr wichtig und hatte nicht viele Hüllen. Ich denke, sie erwarten nicht, dass die Menschen zu lange bleiben. Das Badezimmer war von einer anständigen Größe, mit guten Raum und Oberflächen und alles, was ich für eine Dusche, einschließlich eines Haartrockners benötigt. Das Bett war bequem, aber das Hauptproblem war, dass das Zimmer nicht AC. Die erste Nacht habe ich nicht bemerkt, dass, als ich einige ”mechanische Belüftung” im Zimmer (die sich als ein einziges Bad erwiesen) hörte und es sehr schnell warm wurde. Glücklicherweise können die Fenster offen sein, aber es macht die Temperatur sehr ungleich und vielleicht in den kalten Nächten ist es nicht die beste Lösung. Es war auch ziemlich störend mit der Tür für den Korridor ziemlich nahe meinem Zimmer, schlägt schwer. Das Frühstück war der High-Punkt - ich konnte eine breite Auswahl an Lebensmitteln, obwohl nordisch orientiert. Ich hätte einen Touch an organischen Lebensmitteln geschätzt, wenn nicht lokaler, interessanter Tee und schönere Saften. Sie scheinen sehr industrielle und einige fehlende Geschmack. Das Brot war stattdessen frisch und echten. Es könnte während des Frühstücks sehr besetzt sein, aber nicht eine unmögliche Situation zu lösen. Ich merkte jedoch, dass mein Zimmer und die Umgebung der Aufzüge ein wenig veraltet, zerstört. Mein Zimmer war sicher sehr nett gereinigt (obwohl es nicht während meines Aufenthalts gereinigt wurde), aber es war sehr standardisiert in der Qualität der Materialien und das Aussehen. Insgesamt ein perfekt gut Aufenthalt. Der Preis war nicht zu hoch, aber sicherlich auch nicht auf der billigsten Seite, aber ich denke, für die Lage und die Qualität vernünftig.

Having previously stayed here in smaller rooms, my whole perception of the entire place changed now when we got a really nice ”junior suite” on the corner of the top floor. It felt spacious, stylish and somewhat high-end, with an ambundance of natural daylight from many large windows. We also got a really nice and generous welcome amenity. That being said, the room wasn’t perfect. Several towels had (other people’s) hair on them, the bathroom wasn’t exactly sparklig clean, and the room had two single beds put together rather than a true king size, but I digress. The Box is a pretty good hotel and I would highly recommend splurging for a larger room, which makes it a really good place to stay in Linköping :)

Charming Boutique Hotel! The only reason I have rated Service as Good is because our experience at the Lamp Hotel started off on the wrong foot, thanks to Cecelia behind the front desk. Our initial conversation with her was so awkward and rude, we just looked at each other shocked that she was so unprofessional:( She was so rude to us upon entering the hotel. We politely asked if we could try to check in early. She looked us up and down head to toe with such an off putting attitude and did not even reciprocate in conversation when we asked other questions. Another couple came into the lobby right after us, and she immediately shifted her conversation to them, leaving us standing there speechless, as she began a conversation with them in Swedish. We had arrived so tired, but so excited, as my friend had already stayed at The Lamp Hotel, and had filled me in on how great the hotel was. Cecelia was not warm or friendly to us from the get go, nor accommodating to even offer to take our luggage to store until check in. We had to ask her to do this for us, and my friend literally had to ask her her name about 2 times, before she would acknowledge her question or look in our direction as we asked her questions. We had just traveled 9 hours by flight from the US, and her attitude and personality was not welcoming in any way. We thought we had made a huge mistake booking at the Lamp because of her. We were so glad we did not have to see her again during our whole stay. She was terrible and needs training on empathy, people skills, and basic hospitality. She may not be the best option for behind the front desk as the first point of contact for your hotel. Now once we got past this terrible welcome, we enjoyed our stay so much. The hotel and rooms were gorgeous. The rest of the staff were lovely. The entire hotel is clean, sexy and wonderful! The location is wonderful, the lobby is so chic. The spa is GREAT. The bathrooms are spacious and lovely. I enjoyed my picture window, the tasteful decor and all little details. Housekeeping is PERFECTION. I did breakfast each morning and the kitchen and staff there are INCREDIBLE. They all deserve raises. They were hustling, serving, cleaning, and just a vision of unity and of how to run a kitchen:) The way they all worked and got on so well with each other, was so nice to see. Overall, besides our rude welcome thanks to Cecelia, I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and WOULD stay again. I plan to go back and stay with my husband when we visit Sweden later this year.

Welcoming at arrival, nice staff, great breakfast, and really great hamburger. The room i had was a really nice one, comfortable bed. There is really nothing to complain about, of course, if you want to make a trip to the town, it is a long way to walk.

Basically Motala stadshotell has a good potential to be a really nice hotel. Just fine central position at the main square. But unfortunately it is in great need of a renovation. It is quite worn and not very fresh. Especially the bathrooms look like something from the early 80-ies. And probably are... On the positive side: the beds are just fine - which of course is essential for a good nights sleep. Breakfast ok, but the breakfast room - the hotel's restaurant/bar - is surprisingly gloomy and worn. Black and grey colour scheme here. It is a beer joint. Staff ok, but not overwhelmingly nice. It is not very expensive - you get what you pay for and it's ok for a night or possibly two.

Do you remember those trips by bus witt football/volleyball/ice hockey team to small cities by bus and where you spent the nights then? This place has those vibes even though the standard is naturally higher than back then. There are several plusses and minuses some of which might be minuses and plusses to some one else. Plusses: Big parking space Spacious room (we had 2 bedrooms in one, the other room 2 bunk beds ie family on 6 would fit), also bathroom in good size and in good shape. Clean and very quiet Enough items in the breakfast preorder Good communication even though no reception already before arriving to the hotel and a number to call if any problems (where they also switfly answer the call). Beds in the adults room very comfy. Temperature was ok. Codes worked for doors unexpectedly well. Minuses: No traditional breakfast, needs to be preordered and comsumed in the room or small breakfast room. The other room had no windows, maybe bit dark for some one (it’s an old vault). Hotel kinda middle of nowhere, nothing nearby and even though the building is nice, the gravel parking lot in front of the hotel not too pretty. Something new being built next to hotel, probably quite noisy on weekdays. No elevator or traditional reception. Temperature can’t be changed. Parking costs also for hotel quests. …and couple of additional points; earliest check-in at 5 pm (!) and leave by 11 am. Now, five pm….6 hours for the hotel to clean up the few rooms there are…this is just too late. 3 pm is nowadays the norm, why on earth at 5pm? I would imagine many travellers have small town like Linköping as one night stop and will appreciate the chance of having shower etc after a long drive before late afteenoon. The breakfast room is small, but there is a small note in one of the tables saying there’s more space on the upper floor, it would be good to mention this somehere else as well. I didnt take notice and we had breakfast in the room since the breakfast room was filled with other guests. Also some environment concious person would have objections to the breakfast delivered to fridge in many many plastic small cups (I did not find recycling for plastic). Take note when you leave the room, you need the code to lock the door also when leaving the room. Check the address, bit tricky to find the exact buildind of the hotel (many similar looking buildings near to each other). All in all, this hotel suited the purpose we needed at decent price, but you need to consider if it’s for you or if something in the ”city” would suit better.

In der Nähe des Hotels ist Straßenparkplatz für 80 SEK/Tag und etwa 7-8 Minuten vom Hotel entfernt gibt es eine lange Zeitparkplatz für 100 SEK pro Woche. Das Hotel ist schön und das Zimmer ist sauber und groß. Sehr schön und sauber Badezimmer auch. Die Rezeption war bis 01:00 Uhr geöffnet, um durch einen hilfreichen lächelnden Bartender zu überprüfen. Aufgrund der Vorsichtsmaßnahmen für Covid-19 gab es kein Frühstücksbuffet, aber stattdessen würde man einen kleinen Frühstücksbeutel mit einfachen Artikeln, die man in seinem Zimmer oder am Arbeitsplatz essen kann.

Ich wünschte, ich könnte 5 Sterne geben, aber wegen des Services, es fiel runter. Das Zimmer war ausgezeichnet, wie das Frühstück und die Küche. Allerdings war der Service nur depressiv. Der Mann, der uns als Konter begrüßte, sah aus, als wollte er irgendwo anders sein, aber dort, mit Apple AirPods in seinen Ohren und einem Blick auf sein Gesicht, der nicht willkommen war. Er gab uns keine Informationen über die Einrichtungen, gab uns einfach den Schlüssel und weist uns auf die Richtung unseres Zimmers hin. Am nächsten Morgen hat uns niemand im Personal gegrüßt und versucht, zu ihnen zu lächeln, wie versucht, zu einem tötenden Gazelle zu lächeln. Ich verstehe nicht, warum ein so schönes Hotel Mitarbeiter einstellen würde, die nicht einmal einfache soziale Fähigkeiten nutzen oder ihre Gäste nicht einmal anerkennen können. Ich würde nicht zurückkommen, weil das.
