*Review: One-Night Stay at Kenilworth Hotel, Kolkata* I recently stayed for one night at the Kenilworth Hotel in Kolkata and would rate my overall experience as a 6 out of 10. The hotel has a lot going for it, especially in terms of its location and general ambiance, but there are also a few aspects that could use improvement. To begin with the positives, the hotel is situated in a very convenient and well-connected area. Being close to central Kolkata, it’s easy to access various parts of the city, whether for business or leisure. The immediate surroundings are pleasant and relatively peaceful, which added to the comfort of the stay. The room provided was decent—clean, well-organized, and equipped with the expected amenities for a four-star property. The bed was comfortable, and the room had adequate lighting and storage space. The bathroom was functional and clean, although not particularly luxurious. In terms of comfort and upkeep, the room met my expectations. One feature I particularly appreciated was the hotel’s gym facility. It was clean, well-maintained, and had a decent range of equipment for a quick workout. For a short stay, it was more than sufficient and a welcome amenity for anyone looking to stay active while traveling. However, one significant downside was the dining experience. The biggest letdown was the limited food choices, especially in the set dinner menu. While the staff were polite and the service was timely, the menu lacked variety and felt quite restrictive. For a property of this category, I had expected a broader range of options, including some regional or seasonal specials. The lack of flexibility and limited appeal of the dinner options certainly took away from an otherwise comfortable stay. It might not be a dealbreaker for everyone, but for those who enjoy exploring a hotel’s culinary offerings, this can be a sore point. The check-in and check-out processes were efficient, and the staff at the front desk were courteous and helpful. There was a general air of professionalism throughout the hotel staff, which contributed positively to the experience. In conclusion, Kenilworth Hotel offers a reliable and comfortable stay with the added benefit of a good location and useful amenities like the gym. However, the lackluster food options—especially in the set dinner menu—stand out as an area that needs improvement. With a little more attention to dining and guest preferences, the hotel could elevate its overall appeal. For now, I would consider it a decent option for short stays, especially if dining isn’t your top priority.

Das Hotel war sauber und schön. Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Frau Kusum war sehr nett und professionell und hat sogar das Zimmer entsprechend unseren Bedürfnissen geändert. Das Frühstück war mit guter Verbreitung wie üblich für JW-Standards. Nur Rückkehr, zu viele Gäste. Während des Frühstücks und der Lobbys wurden durch Hochzeiten und Veranstaltungen mit Menschen gefüllt. Andernfalls waren Service, Einrichtungen und Pool-Gebiete alle schön. Elegant und luxuriöses Hotel in einem schön renovierten Palast der königlichen Familie Kolkata. Unser Zimmer war sehr geräumig, schön mit alten, Holzmöbeln eingerichtet. Das riesige Badezimmer und alle Etagen sind aus Marmor. Das Hotel befindet sich in mehreren Gebäuden des Palastkomplexes. Gemütliches Frühstück kann außerhalb in einem schatten Patio oder in einem klimatisierten Restaurant gegessen werden. Jeden Abend gibt es eine Live-Show von Volksdanzspielern. Einer der besten Hotels, die ich jemals gehabt habe.

Ich habe mit meinen Freunden in diesem Hotel geblieben und ein eigenes Zimmer für mich gebucht. Das Hotel hat mir ein Zimmer im sechsten Stock mit einem erstaunlichen Blick auf die Stadt Kolkata geschaffen. Das Front Desk-Personal war äußerst hilfreich und freundlich, vor allem der Gentleman mit Glass am Check-in-Gebäude, der immer meine Anfragen erfüllt und alle Beschwerden unverzüglich bearbeitet. Sie haben uns sogar eine verspätete Abreise erlaubt, weil unser Flug verzögert wurde, was ich wirklich geschätzt habe. Mein Zimmer war geräumig, sauber und gut gepflegt. Die angebotenen Einrichtungen waren von hoher Qualität. Das Hausbetreuungspersonal war freundlich und stolz auf ihre Arbeit. Die Sicherheitskräfte am Haupteingang waren auch sehr freundlich und immer bereit, zu helfen ob es kleine Änderungen für Lieferfahrer oder Uber Zahlungen lieferte. Besonders dank Raghunath, einem der Sicherheitsteams, die uns bei der Ankunft am Flughafen mit über 60 kg Gepäck in unseren Uber geladen haben. Insgesamt war meine Erfahrung außergewöhnlich. Die Freundlichkeit, Professionalität und Aufmerksamkeit des Personals waren wirklich herausgestellt. Ich würde dieses Hotel sehr meinen Freunden und Kollegen, die Kolkata besuchen, sehr empfehlen.

Very friendly staff and good location. Although 3 stars is a bit high. It is rather 2,5 stars. Breakfast was a good start of the day, continental and Indian. Room was small and old, ac noisy. But who cares; you don’t go to Kolkata to stay in your room. On the roof was a terrace where you can eat and drink. All in all great stay. Will definitely come back next time

Good location for tourist spots but quite noisy if you don't like the constant noise of beeping horns from the nearby road (not sure if it is even possible to escape this in India). It did get better between say 10.30pm and 8am). The train (immediately outside the hotel entrance) screeches by but not frequently, boat engines can be heard in the distance but it's on a river 😅. It was a bit of a party boat on some nights (loud and late disco noise if there is an event). The noise stopped at around 9pm one night but went on much later on another night; if your room is close to the bar it may be an issue was wasn't too bad for me as i use ear plugs. The most irritating noise, believe it or not, is people shouting or having loud conversations in the corridors. The room is 3* and there is no safe for your passport, cash, cards etc. The pillows, bed covers and floors were't cleaned particularly well. I had to help myself to consumables from the corridor as they weren't topped up by cleaners. Anyway, a very brief stay could be a good experience, one night maybe.I am pleased to have had the experience and despite the shortfalls would probably recommend it as a one off unique experience, for one or two nights. The breakfast was very good with lovely river views and a chill atmosphere.

Hospitality was excellent. All the staff were very courteous, which is really commendable as now a days hotel staff are usually found to be inefficient.

It was a pleasant and beautiful experience with you, the staff was awesome and cooperative. The service of food and house-keeping was marvelous. It's a memorable stay with you and i hope i will enjoy the same in future

We stayed at The Peerless Inn, Kolkata for two nights. The overall experience was pleasant. The room and bathroom were excellent—clean, spacious, and comfortable. A special thanks to Ms. Neha at the front desk, who was incredibly helpful right from check-in and arranged our room very quickly. We are especially grateful to Mr. Somnath, his hospitality truly stood out. “Thank you” doesn’t feel enough to express our appreciation for his kindness and service. We also had the chance to try the Aaheli restaurant for authentic Bengali cuisine. Every dish was absolutely delicious. The restaurant manager, Mr. Sanjib, was very warm and made us feel truly welcome. The breakfast had a good variety and the food was delicious. However, the staff at the breakfast restaurant were not very polite and lacked a welcoming attitude or smiles, which slightly affected the morning experience. Overall, our stay was wonderful, except for the breakfast restaurant staff’s attitude. We would definitely recommend Peerless Inn for its great location, comfortable rooms, and exceptional hospitality from key members of the team.
