Leider waren wir bei unserer Ankunft sehr enttäuscht. Zuerst konnten wir die Unterkunft nicht finden, es liegt sehr versteckt am Ende einer engen Gasse, ohne Hotelschild oder einen Hinweis. Danach geht man an der Rezeption vorbei, hinten wieder raus, einen Weg entlang an einem kleinen Fluss (Geruch nicht so angenehm), dann zur Unterkunft. Das Zimmer sah nicht aus wie auf den Bildern, es war schlecht geputzt, ein Fenster war kaputt, die Schiebetür konnte nicht wirklich verschlossen werden. Auf der Terasse gab es keinen Tisch, lediglich zwei Stühle. Der Pool wird von allen Einheiten, die ihr Zimmer dort haben, genutzt. Man hat also keinen Privatpool. Leider fühlten wir uns in diesem Teil der Stadt nicht wirklich sicher oder wohl. Zum Strand sind es 3 Minuten zu Fuß, entlang am Fluss, die Strandumgebung dort ist auch nicht soo schön.

Ich verbrachte schöne 5 Tage in diesem Juwel einer Villa in Tangalle und die Erfahrung war unglaublich.Diese Villa liegt an einem ruhigen Ort, nicht weit von der Stadt und 3 Gehminuten vom Strand entfernt. Das Highlight des Zimmers ist der private Pool, den ich so sehr genossen habe, dass ich Bedenken hatte, Pools zu teilen, wenn ich mit einer COVID-Situation durch das Land reise. Personal ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Sie haben dafür gesorgt, dass ich und mein Mann einen sehr komfortablen Aufenthalt haben. Genossen das Essen und besonders den Reis und das Curry, was ich in ganz Sri Lanka genossen habe. Besonderer Dank geht an Sanjeewa und wir werden auf jeden Fall für einen längeren Aufenthalt im Jahr 2023 wiederkommen.

Fantastic place, great staff and fabulous location. It was marvelous to have our own private pool, so refreshing to have a dip first thing in the morning. Tarik and Hamesh were so helpful and friendly. We had continental breakfast twice but had to try the Sri Lankan after reading reviews and it did not disappoint! Everything about our stay was outstanding, would definitely recommend.

My recent stay at Anama Hotel, Tangalle was amazing and I wanted to make sure I wrote a review to let others know. First of all the staff was very welcoming and friendly, the food was amazing and the music was great. But the most impressive part is that when you walk into the rooms, it gives you the feeling as if you have your own apartment with your own pool. This hotel has pools for each room and another common pool. …it’s not easy finding a hotel like this even in the US, with a private pool for each room. It’s an ideal setup even for a family vacationing with children. The whole family could enjoy their own private pool without worrying about disturbing others. We loved walking the few blocks to the beautiful beach and the fish market. It’s a different experience to have when you visit the beach at the time the fishing boats return to shore. The experience staying at this hotel provided the best relaxation possible. Hoping to visit Anama hotel again soon. Thank you for your wonderful service!

“What are the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at?” After staying a fabulous night at Anama Tangalle, I asked this question myself. It is a tough one to answer – because I’ve been fortunate to stay at places around the world where the “amazing and wow” factors go off the charts. However, the Anama villas with private in-room pools and open air showers for each room tend to be one of the most luxurious. After touring the city attractions in Tangalle in the heat, you’ll definitely relish the luxury of cooling off in your own outdoor pool afterward! The cleanliness, most caring and responsive staff, the location, true Sri Lankan hospitality, bundled with an owner who thrives to make a difference in the nearby villages, made our stay absolutely memorable.

We absolutely loved our stay at Anama Tangalle. Amidst the pandemic, we were looking for a safe and quiet place to have a quick gateway with our kids, and Anama ticked all the boxes! It was clean, located few mins from the beach and had amazing hospitality. The hotel is centrally located to most of the tourist attractions in hambanthota such as the ridheegama open safari and hambanthota birds park. Our three kids loved the private plunge pool and the open air shower ! Highly recommend anyone whose looking for safer and less crowded hotels.

Anama was a strange ‘hotel’ experience. When we arrived, we were not met warmly and the manager immediately asked us to pay upfront which was quite off-putting. When the manager left, we didn’t see them again, not even for check out. The staff left behind couldn’t speak any English and were clearly not trained (which is not their fault). We essentially had no hotel ‘service’ and were entirely left alone. When it came to check out, the staff didn’t know what our bill was so were backwards and forwards with someone on the phone. We also had a breakfast query on the bill and couldn’t get any answers (breakfast was overpriced and really terrible). The rooms are charged in dollars but they had no card machine - which they should really mention on the booking site. Overall, the room was nice and the pool a great win but managements attitude and operation is severely lacking for a “5 star hotel”. The owners are clearly trying to get away with doing the absolute bare minimum for a ‘luxury’ price. We won’t be coming back.
