African Spirit Game Lodge

This lodge is a hiden gem in the heart of Zululand. Friendly and inviting staff, great food and the view from the deck is one of my favourite spots on earth!

A highly memorable and enjoyable experience thanks to qualified staff, with an aim to provide great service all around.

We absolutely love Bush holidays, and this was no exception. Just a quick weekend getaway. The lodge is comfortable, and communal areas are well maintained. The 6 Sleeper Zebra Hill chalet was well equipped, comfortable and spacious. Decor was authentic African and tasteful. The bathrooms, however, could definitely use upgrading and modernisation. And the cleaning could be more thorough. Also, a generator or solar power that powers up even just outdoor lighting would be great for times when there is no electricity. Especially when you need to braai/barbecue outdoors at night. A few extras like citronella candles will also be great for that special touch. Game drives were good, given that the ranger was new and inexperienced. I'm sure he will get better with more confidence. But we did have some good sightings. Staff were very welcoming. We would definitely go back, and I do hope upgrades are on the cards as this is one of the nicer, unpretentious self-catering lodges in Manyoni.

Really beautiful and peaceful. The staff were so friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. Our main delight was the game drives, especially when we got to see a cheetah in a tree. The unit was lovely, just the bathroom needs some tlc.

We had an awesome trip! The owners of the lodge (Henk and Liezle) were very kind and helpful and the guides (Johan and Trevor) were incredibly knowledgeable. We couldn't imagine a better safari! We got to see all of the big 5 except for leopards (they are a nocturnal animal and super hard to find). I think in total we saw 26 different mammals we had never seen in the wild plus many many birds and some reptiles. During the week, we went on several excursions including ones with rhinos (the rhino excursion is a must do), elephants, a boat cruise (where we saw hippos and crocs) and others. We also got to see some local villages and visit a local school. The food was fantastic and everything we ate was delicious. Don't be afraid to try anything and everything they make for you. It was all wonderful. The lodge staff and hosts were all very kind and even joined my wife and I for a card game one evening. The rooms were clean, spacious and very comfortable. Watching wildlife right from the deck of the lodge was incredible. It was incredible and a trip that my wife and I will never forget.

A fantastic weekend spent at this wonderful lodge. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Nosipho was engaging and friendly and our ranger Johan was knowledgable and helped us see some wonderful game. The facilities were incredibly clean with a touch of luxury. Would return time and time again

What a place, think we are in love! Nice cottages, with gaz stove and extra lights in case of loadshedding. Nice swimming pool. Stonishing view from the mainbuilding, close to a waterhole. Take some time to observe what com's around. Very very friendly and helpful staff. But the best of all is Johann, the ranger. He knows everything about all the animals in the bush. It's a beautiful man, really! Hope we can come back one day.

This resort is a 5 star. The staff is amazing and the food is so very good. The room is clean and the beds very comfy. The amount of wildlife seen exceed our expectations .would highly recommend this resort . We have been to this resort 3 times so it must be great to keep us coming back

We truly enjoyed our stay in the warthog alley self cratering facility. A spacious house with everything you need. Though It doesn’t have much of view unlike the other houses on the property - load shedding added some challenges, however this is a problem everybody faces in South Africa these days. We‘ll always remember our game drives with Johann as we encountered a special safari moment together. Johann is very professionell, knowledgeable and attentive - our best safar guide ever.
