The hotel it self is pretty nice. The room we stayed in was exactly as we imagined. However, the view wasn’t that great, as there is construction going on . However, that is beyond the control of the hotel.
My main problem with this hotel is the fact that it’s like you are literally begging for amenities. Maybe this is how they treat foreigners. It’s not rocket science that if housekeeping comes on a daily, you replenish what’s been used. It’s consistent for the water but not for anything else. It took over four hours to get coffee replenished when asked. Sugar, toilet paper, and toothpaste was never replenished. There is no hand soap at the sink and I asked every-time and was told housekeeping would bring it up. All you got at the sink was lotion. I don’t think lotion is wise if one needs to wash their hands given the current world crisis.
The food is not very good in my perspective. I chose the hotel mainly because many said the food was very good. They claim that western and Chinese food is served. I guess cereal is the western aspect they speak of. It was mainly Chinese food and It was bad. On many occasions even the workers didn’t finish their meal and stuck to fruit. Now don’t get me wrong I like Chinese food and I usually opt for them at hotels but in this instance it was bad. Maybe Chinese food in Yiwu is different to Hangzhou where flavours are concerned.
Also, my other problem is if two people are in a room give amenities as if two people exist. The first day there were four coffee pods for the machine. The coffee cups given are larger than the quantity made by the machine, so two coffee pods are needed per person. The next day I requested the coffee pods as they weren’t replenished and was given two. Just enough for one individual. One tiny bottle of shower gel. Man that’s enough to wash one person for the day. One keycard, what if we were simply friends who would go our separate ways on a daily basis.
I was given no information on how to find anything in the hotel. I was given a spa voucher with no details on how to find said spa. There was no booklet in the room to show what the spa offered and prices. The menu on the TV doesn’t work.
The upside to it all is that we were given complimentary tickets to have lunch when that wasn’t included with our room price, but the lunch was actually worse than the breakfast and some of what you saw at breakfast you also saw at lunch. We used the complimentary tickets for one lunch and didn’t bother with the other days.
I just think some improvements can be made. After all the hotel is called Global hotel, so one should provide some global standard.
