I had spent ages googling “ Luxury Christchurch Accommodation”, and time and time again, Dyers House came up. We booked the garden room. Check in was warm and easy - Barry and Angela met us at the front door, and instantly made us feel like very special guests. As we were shown to our room, the scent of fresh flowers wafted thru the house. This historic home has been renovated with no expense spared, and so many special touches, I’m sure I will forget to mention some. Our room and bathroom were HUGE! The bedroom had elegant and exquisite furnishings, a bed that was divine, and a terrace straight off it where we had afternoon tea as we watched the birds flying around their divine garden ( a garden filled with lilacs, rhododendrons, bearded iris, cherry trees etc.) Beyond the garden lies sweeping views over Christchurch. Back to our room - our bathroom was incredible….everything heated, including the floor. Massive walk in shower, fluffy and soft bath towels, exquisite decor. Breakfast - this literally blew our minds - pastries, muffins, variety of yoghurts, fruit, including rare and exotic…cheeses, cold meats, the list went on and on. Barry made us piping hot coffee, while Angela spoilt us rotten! The hosts - Barry and Angela just love hosting people from around the world, and love spoiling them too. Both have had interesting careers that have taken them all over the globe - they have amazing stories to share, we found them to be caring, thoughtful hosts that could not do enough to make your stay as perfect as possible. The scenic location is worth the stay alone, but given the close proximity down the hill of great restaurants to chose from for dinner, added to the fact your room is divine, the hosts just lovely, and the magnificent breakfast - make this your first and only choice for Christchurch. Oh - and did I mention the afternoon tea? We sat on a private terrace, covered in roses, and ate the most divine gateaux and sweet treats. Shame I can only give them 10/10, they deserve more!

This is one of the loveliest places I have ever stayed - it represents everything about the legendary New Zealand Hospitality that you have ever imagined. Run by the owner, Chet, who delivers a truly personal and welcoming experience for every guest. I stayed for four nights and every morning there was a breakfast banquet of fresh fruits, cereals, milks for everyone ( soy, oat , dairy) , freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly made coffee, hot toast and so many condiments to chose from . You sit round a large table which is social and interesting to find out what others are planning. On the one morning when I had a very early start, a breakfast was placed carefully outside my room for me to enjoy before setting off at 5.30am - such thoughtful service. My room was the little ‘sleep out’ which is a super cosy ensuite room with a lovely bed and excellent shower as well - set in the carefully designed courtyard, which has a lovely small pond and flowers and plants that clearly the local birds and bees really enjoy too. A very relaxing place to sit and unwind in after a busy day . In terms of location, when you arrive Chet takes you through a carefully, prepared map and gives you a link to a web page he has created full of useful tips and hints . The public bus system in Christchurch makes it very easy and cheap to get all over the place . Chet also offers a laundry service, but please remember this is not a laundromat, so you if you need something urgently then look for that, but if you have a day or two then your laundry is done and returned all very efficiently. So in summary, if you want to experience real New Zealand hospitality, look no further than Designer Cottage !

Das Hostel ist ein Highlight dieser Stadt, da es aus einem alten Gefängnis umgebaut wurde. Der Gefängnisstil ist etwas deprimierend, vor allem, weil er in einer winzigen Straße liegt, in der es nichts gibt ... ein bisschen wie am Ende der Welt. Es ist schön, eine Nacht zu schlafen, aber wahrscheinlich nicht länger. Naja, aber jeder mag andere Attraktionen und generell ist das Hostel nicht schlecht.

Wir waren nur für eine sehr kurze Zeit (Mitternacht bis 6 Uhr morgens) Als wir ankamen, war es schwierig ins Hotel zu kommen. Hoffentlich gab es eine zufällige Person, die uns geholfen hat. Dann muss man den Verantwortlichen anrufen (es war niemand an der Rezeption). Die Person kam recht schnell und war sehr nett zu uns. Er half uns, ein Taxi für den nächsten Morgen zu buchen. Das Zimmer war sehr klein, aber das Bett war eines der bequemsten, in dem wir geschlafen haben.

Das Motel ist zentral gelegen, preislich nicht sonderlich teuer - entspricht aber auch der Qualität. Die Zeiten der Rezeption sind äußerst ungünstig und werden nicht eingehalten. Da wir erst am Nachmittag vom CHC Abfolgen, wollten wir das Gepäck im Hotel lassen. Am Vorabend haben wir uns erkundigt, wann und ob wir das Gepäck abgeben können. Der frühstmögliche Zeitpunkt (aus Sicht des Motels) ist die Öffnung der Rezeption warten um 9:30 Uhr. Am Check-out-Tag haben wir um kurz vor halb 10 bereits vor der Rezeption gewartet und haben festgestellt, dass die Rezeption noch verschlossen war und die Angestellten auch nicht ins Gebäude kamen.. somit haben wir vor verschlossenen Türen bis 09:45 Uhr warten müssen. Als wir (UND die Angestellten!) dann endlich reingelassen wurden, konnten wir under Gepäck erst in einer halben Stunde abgeben.. dadurch verplempern wir die uns bleibende Zeit in CHC.. hierhin würden wir nicht mehr kommen!

Wir haben vor kurzem 4 Nächte im Hotel geblieben, erst an das Hotel angekommen, die Rezeption war genügend freundlich, aber nicht so hilfreich wie jedes Front Desk Personal sein könnte. Das Zimmer war sauber und komfortabel, die Lage war fantastisch, die Umgebung war großartig (gut, wenige warme Gäste). Aber irgendwie verlor meine Frau ihren Hochzeitsring aus unserem Zimmer. Wir bemerkten erst am Ende des Tages, und hätten noch früher aufholen sollen. Herr ************, der Hotelmanager, machte es aus Reisendensicht noch schlimmer. Er hat die schlimme Einstellung zu dem ganzen Vorfall, anstatt seine Empathie zu bieten, er drückte die Verantwortung zurück an die Hotelgäste, die den Hochzeitsring in seinem Zimmer im Hotel verloren. Seine passive Aggression ist überall die arme Google-Bewertung! Er reagierte scharf, wenn er über CCTV andere Fragen als über das Türzugriffsprotokoll stellte, das er sofort bereitstellen konnte, und er war mit seiner Antwort und seiner Haltung gegenüber jemandem, der sich um den Raum gewandt, um nur den fehlenden Ring zu suchen. Er war weder freundlich, empathisch noch willkommen, obwohl er in der Gastfreundschaftsindustrie ist. Ich bin nicht schuldig an niemandem hier oder schuldig an niemandem, aber er war als Hotelmanager der einzige, für den wir Hilfe in einem Ausland suchen konnten, und er erwartete, dass wir verstehen, wie Polizei und System hier funktioniert. Für uns hat er uns wie ***s klingt und auf unsere eigenen Eigenschaften vergessen.

Ich reservierte ein privates Doppelzimmer und war nicht auf ein gutes Schlafen war, weil die Leute auf und nach unten die Treppe klang wie eine Herde von Rhino's. Allerdings wurde der ruhige Curfew von 10pm gehalten und ich genossen das beste Schlaf, das ich in den letzten 2 Monaten hatte (einschließlich mein Bett zu Hause). Die Küche hat genug Platz und die Lounge hat viele Tischsitzplätze. Die Badezimmer waren sauber und der Duschedruck war groß. Die Lage des Hostels ist fantastisch, aber Straßenparkplatz ist gemessen und begrenzt zwischen 9am-6pm. Ich kam am Waitangi Tag, wenn Parkplätze kostenlos sind und nur eine Nacht geblieben, so dass es gut funktionierte. Aber wenn Sie länger bleiben, finden Sie kostenlose Parkplätze könnten irritieren, so besser, einen ganzen Tag freien Ort die Nacht vor oder lassen Sie es in einem 24-Stunden-Parkplatz. Es gibt freie Straßen, aber beachten Sie die Bewohner.
