Baan Luang Rajamaitri Historic Inn

Honestly, I didn't get a chance to book a good room at this hotel while I was in Chanthaburi recently. But I must share about this gem with all, so perhaps you can have a unique opportunity to spend night(s) at this beautiful property. (they've got a sister property down the rimnam road) This is a riverside hotel, refurbished new, so as to maintain the history and culture of the building. The room fittings are excellent and you'll find it hard to raise any complaints about anything. The classic design will ensure you step back in time, as almost all the furnishings are well thought of. It's like staying in a museum. Service from all the staff, whether you're a hotel guest or just dropping by for a meal or coffee, is SOLID. (and best of all, they should have no problems speaking with you in English, if that's your mode of communications) But please, if you need a good room, book ahead so you won't regret.

It's a very special place. get the a**osphere of the waterfront in the old days I received a birthday postcard from the hotel the following year. It was something very special that made me think about that trip again. If I have a chance, I will re-visit.

I did not want to stay in a large hotel and was looking for a smaller property with character. I found and booked the Baan Luang Rajamaitri Inn and am so glad that I did. It is not so easy to find as the streets are extremely narrow but having parked at the nearby Chinese Temple we arrived at this charming hotel. The Baan Luang Rajamaitri is a 150 year old traditional riverside home that has been lovingly restored in to an enchanting boutique hotel. The restoration itself is an amazing story of vision and co-operation, and as local people were encouraged be become part of the project, the hotel has 500 shareholders. You will find much of the history of the hotel and the Chanthaburi Riverside community in the hotel. There is a choice of themed rooms available some with ‘normal’ beds and some with futons. Each room is individual in design and fully equipped with A/C, fridge, tv etc. Bathrooms are small and provided everything that you need. There is a lovely river terrace for breakfast where you can sit and watch the river waters pass you by. Breakfast can be European or Asian. At the time of visit it was pre-order and was very filling. The Baan Luang Rajamaitri may not be for everyone! You are asked to leave your shoes at the door and proceed barefoot over these century’s old teak floor boards. There is no lift, and the stairs are quite steep. The rooms are quite compact and the some of the doorways are quite low. However, if you are looking for historical ambience and character then a stay at the Baan Luang Rajamaitri is highly recommended. We stayed in the Rubber Tree Room. Small, charming with a lovely balcony. It is similar to a duplex with the bed on a shelf above the bathroom. Very comfortable and cosy but if you have bad knees, beware of the staircase.

It was the first time to stay in this type of hotel to bring back childhood memories when visiting provinces. Our group of 8 rented the whole 10-room house to have privacy which was the best decision for all. The room styles made it interesting to see and take pix as well. Really loved sitting by the river for breakfasts to enjoy nicely selected and delicious dishes. The staff team was attentive with great sense of service.

Ambiente accogliente con camere impeccabili , direttamente sul fiume e in ottima posizione. Nei dintorni diversi ristoranti e caffè davvero graziosi . Il personale davvero gentile e premuroso. Ho avuto un piccolo incidente inciampando ( fuori dalla struttura) ed ho dovuto soggiornare un giorno in piu , le signore mi hanno aiutato in tanti modi. GRAZIE!

Zoals de naam al zegt logeer je in een oud historisch huis, een prachtig houten gebouw, pal aan de rivier in de meest sfeervolle straat van Chanthaburi. Voor de enige nacht dat we in de stad waren, wilden we absoluut Baan Luang Rajamaitri als onze basis hebben. En we hebben absoluut geen spijt van onze keuze: fantastische kamer, super vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel, geweldig ontbijt. Chanthaburi is een verrassend leuke plaats, waar we achteraf gezien best een dagje langer hadden willen verblijven. Niks dan lof dus voor dit hotel, maar het is misschien goed om te weten dat de kamer (althans onze kamer) vrij klein was - vooral als je met een grote koffer reist - en een beetje luidruchtig; gezien de ligging vlak naast de ontbijtruimte, hoop ik dat andere gasten niet al te veel last gehad hebben van onze ochtendrituelen...
