Accommodation pictures on website & the actual place are worlds apart. It shocked me that i refused to stay there with my kids.They customer service is below pathetic & they staff are very rude.. we were lied to & robbed of our money & treated so badly & made to stand on the pavement when we went to query about our refund that they assured us we'd get back from *********** after they made us pay again at another accommodation to stay the night but then after we left they refused permission for *********** to refund us.. they stole our money- twice

The person checking me in wanted to see my ID and when I didn't have it on me he wanted to take a picture of me "for security reasons". I have stayed in a thousand places of accommodation in all four hemispheres and I have NEVER (even in 5-star tourist hotels) been asked to have my picture taken. When I refused he said: "It's our rules". I told him he could call the police and tell them I refused to have my picture taken. Inside the bedroom I asked him where the cupboard was where I could hang my clothes. He said: "This room doesn't have one. You can put them there," and indicated a settee. Really? The shower was dirty and unhygienic. The parking (for which I had to fork out an additional R90) was an extremely tight squeeze for my hatch back small car. Any normal car or SUV will not fit in. A notice says "Additional free parking is available." Sure. In the street outside. Good luck with that.

We visited for April holidays and we had a pleasant stay at Strand Guesthouse. The room was lovely, value for money and conveniently located. Friendly and helpful staff. Will be visiting again soon. I recommend this place.

My experience at this hotel was a far cry from what was advertised. Upon check-in, I was surprised to find additional charges, including nightly parking fees despite ample parking space available onsite, as well as a R250 per person damages deposit, which I declined to pay, leading them to take my driver's license as collateral. The floors, made of black polished concrete, were a constant source of frustration as stepping out of the shower inevitably resulted in blackened feet. I must commend the gentleman who assisted me during my stay; he was very helpful and professional. However, it's evident that the issues I encountered are systemic and not reflective of his efforts. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel to others. The restrictive policy displayed prominently in the reception area prohibiting the consumption of alcohol on the premises struck me as excessive, even though I personally do not drink. Overall, my experience fell short of expectations.

The reviews were not that shiny on this accommodation, but I was pleasantly surprised! The very friendly Nonnie were wonderful. Comfortable beds and lovely linen and towels. It was also very quiet in my unit. A bonus was the 5 min walk to the beach at The Strand.

Misleading photographs, no ventilation, windows in room opened into a garage ,no ventilation in bathroom , shocking service all round , check in questionable , non response to any communication from owner , had to move my guest after one night

I booked through booking. Com from 8th oct to 15th. Strand Guesthouse. I arrived a day earliar and wanted to pay for extra night. Upon arrival the lady told me to hang on for manager to give me a price. Which I did. We came back 3 hours later and we were showed to our rooms. The second room was so small, this was still okay but you couldnt even use toilet without putting your feet in the shower. There was no way I could let my parents sleep like that. From start we told lady this is not what we paid for according to the web photos and that we will not book in. Even better we did not even sign any documentation when we arrived. An African man arrived handing me the phone to speak to the manager. When I explained she said why dont I swop rooms with my parents. I told her that I am booking other accommodation. The place is filthy, mouldy and bedding smells. Fridgees not cleaned, outside area dirty, small rooms shower pushing water that smells like drain. Outside small room water leaking at door onto tiles. Not safe. Now I am involved in Tourism Grading Board and I know what it should be. That is not a guesthouse but a backpackers. Your manager sent me a cocky whatsapp message where I was not even rude. You can ask the staff. By 9th Oct those 2 rooms were no longer available on *********** so they were booked out. We know because we were there to look. The Consumer Protection Act you can not make a blank statement of no refund. The Advertising Regularity Board also advised me to report the false advertising. You are in violation of many points in CPA. I paid R6375.60 and this for nothing. Worse case is you can take 400x2 for 8th Oct. I did contact my lawyer and forward all your bad reviews and how its handled and all my chats with manager. He also advised me to report both places (I have been at Bedrock to look aswell after incident) I was also advised that he will report your places at all the search engins. Would you please refund me the money that I wasted. Not once have I been rude but this is where I draw the line now.

Hi..I'm from Durban & was visiting Gordon's Bay all the way to Bloubergstrand on our Annual vacation(our 2nd trip to the Western Cape).It was my wife, 3 kids(8,13,17) & my 74 year old mum. I booked strand guesthouse via *********** after browsing through the website on 3/01/2023.The pictures on the website are worlds apart from the reality of it & not a place that i felt could accommodate my family in sense of space but most importantly hygiene.I was told I could be there at 12pm on 3/01/2023 by an email sent by *********** cos we had a long trip from Durban & needed to bath,etc but when we got there the lady says she can only allow us in after 3pm & she wasn't informed about us being early.we stood outside the premises over 10mins before she even came to the entrance & mind you we pressed the intercom & a guy names Lloyd answered & said someone will be right out.We entered the premises & were disgusted by how untidy & dirty it was.The outside was an eye sore. What really got to me the most was how unsanitary the inside where we supposed to stay was so we walked out & asked to speak to someone in charge. The person we spoke to Lloyd told us to please give him some time while he sorts the situation out after we explained our issues with Strand Guesthouse. He called back about 40/45min later & told us to come to the other premises which is also worlds apart from they pictures on the internet as i did check when we were back in Durban.we got there and again explained the situation & they pretended to be sympathetic which we realised afterwards cos they knew they had to string us along just so we wouldn't suspect the pathetic & uncivilized way they would treat us the next day.we were told we could only stay for 3 nights there for the amount we paid via booking com(R8789) but we explained we would like a refund from Strand Guesthouse to which they replied that *********** will have to refund us as they do not have the funds & cannot pay back what they haven't received.They reassured us that they have no problem if *********** wants to refund us.We agreed to pay them in full(R2400 + R1000 breakage fee) for the night as we were tired & had kids & my 75yr old mother with me in the hope which they gave us that we will be refunded..This place wasn't a place i could have stayed for the week as it was also untidy & very small,not a place anyone would want they family to stay in especially while visiting the beautiful Western Cape but we had to just to rest & recharge after the long trip we made.Next morning we spoke to those in charge,Lloyd & another guy & was again reassured that as long as *********** wants to refund that's fine & they have no issues.I emailed *********** & they response was they waiting for permission from Strand Guesthouse so they can refund me.We left 4/01/2023 with the same reply from them stating *********** will be paying me back in full according to them.. in no moment were we told that they would not be approving a refund as they
