The reception desk was hardly manned and would struggle to get hold of anyone on the phone ( even when I was calling from my room). My bed cover was not clean, it had dirty stains on it including tiny blood stains on top. The room and the bed were lovely and spacious but the shower door wouldn’t close completely and caused a lot of water spillage on the floor. During load shedding, the lights would go off and the hotel staff would take long to switch on the generator ; long enough to cause a panic attack! which was unacceptable as they should follow the load shedding timetable and always be on standby and make sure that the generator kicks in as soon as the lights go off.

Well where do we start.. .. we started planning our trip to South Africa about a year ago, and shopped around a lot to see what was on offer from different lodges around the area, let’s just say as soon as we came in contact with Annie (the owner) from Kingfisher Creek we just knew that this was the right choice to make, her break down and customer service towards planning our trip to full fill our dreams and expectations was exactly what we was looking for, so we already had a idea that we were going to enjoy ourselves here, so we decided to book for a 10 night stay! We arrived at hoedspruit airport and was greeted by Betty who was warm and friendly. Betty drove us to the lodge providing information on the way about what activities we will be doing and about the area. We were even greeted by 2 giraffes pulling into the lodge which kickstarted our safari excitement! We were blown away with the lodge, the welcoming from Annie and her staff, the facilities and just the feel that the whole place had to it. The rooms are just perfect. We stayed in the Malachite Tent which is on a high deck overlooking the African bush. The bed and pillows were so comfortable, the outside shower was amazing, To be surrounded by wildlife sounds and brilliant views of the sunset! A few nights we were sitting on our balcony after dinner and could hear hyenas calling in the distance. I mean, it doesn’t get much better than that! The rooms are equipped with everything and more needed for a comfortable stay, the pool and deck area were beautiful and the bar was stocked with a huge variety of drinks, beers, cider, wines and spirits as well a large selection of soft drinks to cater for everyone’s favourite tipple, and what better place to have a drink than to be sitting overlooking the wildlife and listening to the sounds of the roaming animals, we were even joined by some giraffes and Nyala a few times during our stay whilst relaxing and having a drink, there really is no experience like it. As the days went on in our stay we started to realise this lodge isn’t just accomodation to put your head down after a day of safari or activities, it was actually a home away from home, and added so much more to our experience, that’s all down to the kindness of Annie and her staff, they really do go above and beyond to make your stay the best it can be. The food was exceptional, and you could tell how much time and effort goes into creating the courses, which are all presented beautifully and taste even better than they look! We had a few changes we wanted to make to our itinerary which Annie dealt with efficiently to ensure we got the most of what we wanted. All tours and activities we done were amazing including full day Kruger, blue canyon safari, panorama tour, guernsey bush walks and that is just to name a few! We followed kingfisher creek on instagram and their bio quotes ‘Come as a guest, leave as a friend’ this couldn’t have any more truth to it and we truly have left as frien

We stayed at Ukuthula Lodge for three nights and had a fantastic time. The team at the lodge were very friendly and kind, and Fabian went above and beyond to accommodate any requests we had, even on short notice. Their breakfast options like Eggs Benedict were a great surprise in such a location, and everything was cleaned to a very high standard. The dinners were a bit repetitive so if you are a foodie it might help to rent a car to access some other spots as you can't walk through the bush late at night!

We had a wonderful stay. Although the room we booked wasn't available, we were upgraded at no additional charge. The accommodations were very clean, and the staff was friendly. The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful.

I'm a but conflicted with this hotel because some parts were really good but some not so good. The room was big and airy however the bed was too soft that it felt like my whole body fell into a hole and that made it difficult to sleep. Before going to sleep the geyser in the room started leaking and the shower head fell off when I was taking a shower. So it felt like I was given a room that was under renovations or something. However, the good part is that the food was super delicious and the staff's customer service was so good. You know that the place is well run when the customer experience is the same from reception, to staff at the diving area and even the cleaner (my opinion 😉)

Wir haben eine tolle Zeit hier verbracht. Bereits am ersten Tag haben wir einen Leoparden bestaunen können und haben auch Löwen und Büffel gesehen. Die Leopardensichtung war besonders beeindruckend, da der Leopard seine Beute auf dem Baum gefressen hat. Außerdem hatten wir ein sehr gelungenes Fotoshooting mit einer Fotografin, die von der Lodge empfohlen worden ist und konnten so tolle Urlaubserinnerungen von unserer Safari mit nach Hause nehmen. Wir haben natürlich auch selber jede Menge großartige Bilder von der Tierwelt geschossen. Wir hatten eine extrem engagierte Rangerin vielen Dank dafür. Absolut zu empfehlen

Über diese Lodge kann ich nichts negatives berichten. Das Personal, sowie die Inhaberin sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Sie helfen einem bei jeder Frage und servieren hervorragendes Essen am Morgen und am Abend. Das klassische braai von Numza kann ich nur empfehlen und war ein Highlight der Reise. Die Unterkünfte sind sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und sauber. Es war unsere erste Lodge auf unserer Reise, was wir im Nachhinein als perfekte Einführung in die Wildnis Südafrikas empfinden. Bei der familiären Stimmung fühlte man sich direkt wohl und gut aufgenommen.

Das Personal war über meinen Aufenthalt unglaublich willkommen und hilfreich. Die Zimmer waren unverschämt und sehr komfortabel. Ich genoß auch das leckere Frühstück jeden Morgen und liebte die bequeme Lage in der Nähe der großen Attraktionen. Ich werde zurück gehen, um die vielen Attraktionen in der Nähe des Gebiets zu erkunden. Oh, und das Wetter ist immer sehr :).
