Es liegt in der Nähe der Altstadt und ist bequem zu Fuß erreichbar. Das Frühstück ist nicht besonders preiswert; wenn Sie Zeit haben, sollten Sie lieber auf dem Markt essen. Das Onsen ist schön, und das Hotel bietet alle Annehmlichkeiten. Es gibt ausreichend Parkplätze vor dem Hotel und auf einem ausgewiesenen Parkplatzbereich (1.000 Yen). Bei meinem Besuch waren viele thailändische Touristen da. Das Auto links im Bild steht auf der Straße vor dem Hotel.

It’s a very nice place, 3mins walk from Nohi bus station. Very aesthetic Japanese layout, each room are themed with different Japanese cultures. The staffs are also very friendly and helpful and can’t complaint about the level of service.

Das Hotel ist ganz im japanischen Stil eingerichtet. Wenn Sie ankommen, müssen Sie Ihre Schuhe ausziehen, um das Zimmer zu betreten. Die Kellner wischen den Koffer sehr sauber und ihre Einstellung ist sehr gut! Für das private Thermalbad des Hotels wird kein Aufpreis berechnet! Es waren nicht viele Leute da, also haben wir alle drei ein Bad genommen, was sehr angenehm war! Es gibt auch kostenlose Ramen am Abend und Eis und Yakult nach dem Baden. Sie sind alle sehr rücksichtsvoll. Es liegt ganz in der Nähe des JR-Bahnhofs, des Nohi-Busses und des Ajizo Paradise! Empfohlen!

The hotel room is pretty big by Japan standards, and the feeling of the hotel is really grand! Lots of locals were staying there, but the rooms are a little bit dated. The toilet lights were quite dim and the bathrooms could use an update. However, everything worked perfectly and the stay was still extremely enjoyable! The hotel is situated right next to a bus stop so that makes things super convenient! There’s also a family mart behind the hotel (shortcut! go out of the main door, turn right, walk down the ramp, immediately turn right and right again into the small path, go up the stairs past the hotel park, then turn left and cross the small roads, and you’ll find the konbini) The hotel also rents out bicycles to hotel guests FOC, so you can take the bike literally anywhere! We rode to the supermarket (~10 mins away) and also down by the river (10/10 recommended!) and just explored lots around! Gifu is a lovely quiet town and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to experience a side of Japan that isn’t just Tokyo or Osaka.

Das Hotel hat eine tolle Lage; wir hatten Blick auf den Bahnhof. Bei geschlossenen Fenstern war es angenehm ruhig. Bettwäsche, Handtücher und Pyjamas waren gut. Die Matratzen waren bequem, es gab zwei verschiedene Kissenarten. Der Föhn war in Ordnung, aber seltsamerweise fehlte ein Diffusor. Das Frühstück war eher dürftig; einige Speisen waren leer und wurden nicht nachgefüllt. Das Onsen war durchschnittlich, einen Versuch wert, aber uns war es zu heiß. Mir gefiel nicht, dass kein Wasser bereitgestellt wurde (weder im Zimmer noch im Wasserspender auf dem Flur). Außerdem wird das Zimmer bei kurzen Aufenthalten nicht gereinigt (es werden nur die Handtücher gewechselt und der Müll rausgebracht). Insgesamt fand ich den Preis überteuert und nicht angemessen. Wir haben in einem anderen Hotel derselben Kette in Kanazawa übernachtet, wo der Föhn einen Diffusor hatte und das Frühstück besser war.

Ein Thermalquellen-Gasthof mit großzügigem Garten und Blick auf das Gero Onsen-Gebiet bietet einen ruhigen Rückzugsort. Erbaut an den Hängen des Berges Nakane, auch bekannt als „Gero Fuji“, bietet der Gasthof eine erholsame Auszeit inmitten der Natur. Entworfen in einer Mischung aus japanischer Holzarchitektur und moderner westlicher Architektur, verströmt der Gasthof trotz seiner langen Geschichte ein retro-modernes Ambiente. Der 50.000 Tsubo umfassende Garten beherbergt, wie bei seiner Eröffnung, saisonale Blumen und Vögel sowie Kleintiere wie Regenwürmer. Von der Aussichtsplattform aus genießen Gäste einen Panoramablick auf die Stadtlandschaft von Gero, während die Freibäder und großen öffentlichen Bäder den Blick auf die Hida-Berge freigeben. Obwohl das Gasthaus etwas abseits des Thermalquellengebiets liegt, bietet es einen ruhigen Rückzugsort. Neben dem Hauptgebäude und dem Nebengebäude, die den Charme der Showa-Ära bewahren, bietet das Gasthaus auch Zimmer im Keizanso, einem Gebäude aus der Heisei-Ära. Es gibt auch private Zimmer mit Freiluftbädern und spezielle Zimmer für Mitglieder des Königshauses, Kulturschaffende, Politiker und Geschäftsleute. Diese Residenz präsentiert die Handwerkskunst der Hida-Künstler und ermöglicht Ihnen, japanische Kultur hautnah zu erleben. Sie können die Farbe Ihres Yukata selbst wählen. Clean and comfortable hotel situated in a remote location. Check-in was efficient, and the rooms are nicely designed and new. The downside is that there are no convenient stores or restaurants nearby, so you’ll have to rely on their snack bar at the lobby if you’d like anything to eat in the middle of the night. There are also a limited amount of parking spaces on the premises, on a first-come-first-served basis

Everything was excellent, even though the facility is quite old, cleanliness is well maintained.  The staff are helpful and well mannered. The Japanese style food is healthy and delicious .  Most of all the onsen is excellent, makes your skin silky and gentle .

Our stay at Ryokan Gizan was a truly memorable experience. This is a traditionally built and decorated Japanese ryokan, with tatami floors, sliding doors, and an authentic atmosphere that makes you feel fully immersed in Japanese culture. It’s definitely a “must-visit” if you’re looking to experience traditional Japanese accommodation — even a short stay of 2–3 nights is enough to make it special. The ryokan is quite old, which actually adds to its authentic charm, though it might feel a bit less comfortable for more demanding guests. That said, it’s very well maintained and everything is clean and thoughtfully arranged. The onsen facilities were excellent — one public bath and four private ones that you can use freely. After long days of exploring, it was a real treat. We highly recommend booking with the traditional dinner included. The meals were a highlight: we had Yakiniku the first night and Shabu-shabu the second, both featuring fresh, generous portions of delicious food. Breakfast was a traditional Japanese set — beautifully presented and made with care, though not quite to our personal taste. The location is stunning — surrounded by mountains, rivers, and blossoming trees. It feels peaceful and remote. Just note that amenities like ATMs or grocery stores are limited nearby. However, it’s well connected by bus (just a 3-minute walk from the ryokan), which can take you to Kamikochi or the terminals at Takayama and Hirayu Onsen. Buses run about once an hour, so it’s quite manageable. Overall, a fantastic stay — relaxing, unique, and highly recommended for anyone looking to experience a more traditional and scenic side of Japan.
