Tucan Hotel

Misrepresenting as a hotel. This is a single story disjointed structure. Had to pay in advance and not when checking out. No TV and internet is slow and is dropped all the time. No toiletries or hairdryer provided. No hand towel or towel rack in bathroom - just 2 bath towels. Very overgrown. Floors are uneven and people keep tripping on them. King bed in room left 6 inches on either side and filled the room, so no night tables or a chair and had to crawl in from the foot of the bed. It is very clean and 2 reception guys are very good. Excellent air conditioning. Good breakfast included. Centrally located near to restaurants. Avoid if expecting even a basic hotel.

Excellent service. Very helpful staff. The owner Piere gave us some excellent personalized tour advice, those were super helpful.

The Tucan hostel ist definetly one of the best hostels I have ever been in Costa Rica. The staff was very friendly and always willed to help. Thanks to the great staff, booking daytrips one day before was easy as well. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The pool area and the kitchen are nice and clean too. The main area is full of comfortable places to chill. My highlight were the hammocks and the cats around the chillarea. The only thing which wasnt perfect was that the fridge (or some other machine from the breakfast area, I dont know exactly) made noise all night long. But you get used to it and in the dorms you won‘t hear that. All in all I really loved my stay here and would definetly come back!! Thank you!

The owners and workers (Sebastian, Steven, Joel) were amazing and very helpful. They provided great recommendations on tours and day trips etc. Awesome free breakfast - eggs, traditional beans/rice, toast and cheese/jam, fresh fruit, oa**eal, cake, lots of tea, coffee The rooms were very clean and decorated well. Beautiful common area with lounging area. Nice pool with lounge chairs in the sun and shade. Pool table and board games and a library in the lounge area. Right in the heart of town with lots of amazing restaurants and bars in walking distance. Common kitchen for those who want to cook. Very nice bar open all day Room we stayed in was a converted RV - super unique with TV, bathroom, shower, AC etc Great wifi throughout the hotel

This was my first time being in a hostel and i am happy it was at this location. Pierre and his staff were amazing. They made sure everyone was taken care of. The dormatories from what inwas told are a lot better here then your average hostel. Pierre is more than willing to help you with your itinerary and where to eat. My stay in Uvita was a lot better because Tucan.

We are a family of 4 adults traveling on a budget, and as such our expectations try to match our budget (as the old adage goes: you get what you pay for). However, the Tucán Hotel in Uvita Costa Rica exceeded our expectations. It is clearly a newer establishment, with fresh paint and shiny floors, and like a newer business it has some growing pain to overcome. Yet, the design and layout of the hotel is practical and beautiful. The travelers safety and comfort were clearly in mind with all the rooms centrally located, under a large metal awning on either side of a small parlor flanked by the reception area to the right and dining area to the left. In the middle are two hammocks, a koi fish pond, and a bookshelf full of books in various languages. A gate which closes at 10 pm, denotes the establishments name: Tucan Hotel, and their lovey black and white logo, reminiscent of the Ying and Yang symbol. The pride the owners take in their establishment is evident in the attention paid to the smallest of details. The doors are weighted so that they softly swing shut if left open. The room came with AC at not additional cost, and there are power *****s to accommodate a family like ours charging multiple devices at once. There is wifi, a laundry service, and a practical and delicious continental breakfast of fresh coffee, fruit, muffins, bread, m ham and slices of cheese is included. The urinates are individually kept in cloth sleeves, a nice detail. A lovely little hotel, at an affordable price which we highly recommend.

Great budget place in Uvita - definitely exceeded our expectations. The rooms are basic but very clean. But the community hang out space is amazing, with a great pool (and pool table, which we didn't use). They sold beers in the evening and free breakfast was pretty good. Wifi was strong, and it was an easy walk to nearby restaurants. You could pretty easily walk to the waterfall from here. We were a family of four, and it was one of my kids' favorite places in all of Costa Rica.

Un havre de paix Ambiance multi générationnelle Très bon accueil et service de l ensemble du personnel. Très bien situé, calme et très sympathique comme ambiance. Possibilité de faire sa cuisine ou de très bons conseils pour les restaurants.

Le Tucan hotel est un endroit charmant, pittoresque, la décoration y est soignée. Nous y avons passé 3 nuits dans le bus aménagé, très confortable avec une literie de bonne qualité, douche , salon et air conditionné. Commerces à 2 pas ce qui n'est pas négligeable. Rien à dire sur le lieu lui même si ce n'est qu'il est sans doute plus agréable de se loger à Bahia Uvita qui est vraiment tout près et beaucoup plus joli. Personnel de la réception très sympa et aimable. Ce qui nous a déçu : Le restaurant de l'hôtel fermé alors qu'on nous l'avait annoncé ouvert au moment de la réservation. Certes il y a d'autres possibilités dans le coin mais on aurait apprécié de le savoir avant notre arrivée puisque l'hôtel pouvait très facilement nous joindre. L'accueil inexistant à notre arrivée, nous avions en partie choisi cet établissement car les propriétaires sont francophones. Nous espérions qu'ils pourraient nous donner des renseignements. Malheureusement nous n'avons pas eu le plaisir de les voir bien que le jeune réceptionniste nous ait dit qu'ils étaient prévenus et passeraient nous voir. Nous avions réservé par l'hôtel une excursion de la journée au Corcovado et aucun renseignement ne nous a été donné à ce sujet si ce n'est qu'un taxi nous prendrait à 6h00. Les autres participants , venus d'autres hôtels, avaient eu des explications assez précises quant à ce qu'il fallait emporter avec soi par exemple. Pas de consignes sur l'entretien de notre logement. Voyant que le lit n'avait pas été fait ni les poubelles vidées, nous avons demandé à la réception ce qu'il en était. Réponse " Je ne sais pas si c'est prévu que quelqu'un le fasse dans le bus" Donc nous avons vidé les poubelles nous mêmes ... Lieu qui se trouve donc être bien plus chaleureux que l'accueil réservé aux clients. Nous nous en sommes expliqué par messages avec le propriétaire qui nous a dit que nous étions arrivés dans une période particulière pour des raisons personnelles. Je veux bien le croire mais c'est dommage qu'un si joli endroit soit si impersonnel. Le rapport qualité/prix est bon malgré un petit déjeuner moyen.
