I received a room that was dirty and smelled musty. The hotel said that there were no other rooms available and that they had a special machine they could put in my room to remove the smell, but I would have to leave the room for a few hours. No one could explain to me what this machine actually did! After speaking to 4 different people, I was finally told that a suite was available, but I would have to pay approximately $500 per night extra to move. None of the staff their speaks English well so it was very difficult to explain that I should not have to pay extra. No one seemed to feel bad about giving us a smelly room and just said that it was very hot outside (as if that explained the situation). After a long days travel, we were exhausted and so I agreed and we moved into the suite. Then, that night, both my son and I got sick. We don't know if it was caused by the food in the hotel or something else. Regardless, I called the front desk at 11 pm and asked if they had any medicines. The man at the desk said that I could go into town to the pharmacy, but he did not know if it was open. I asked him if he could call the pharmacy to see if they were open. He did not speak English well and kept repeating that I should go to the pharmacy. He was entirely unhelpful! This hotel is beautiful and the suite was nice. But, the service is terrible. No one seems to know what is going on and not one person spoke English well. Breakfast was included in my rate, but the first day we were only offered a cold buffet. The second day were were given a menu to also order hot items. It turns out that they forgot to give us the menu or even tell us about the hot items the day before. No one apologized or made any effort to make up for the error. The staff just does not care if the guests have a good experience or not. This place is very expensive, and definitely not four or five star quality. Stay away!

+Das Hotel ist sauber und gut. +Die Bedienung ist sehr hilfsbereit. +Das Frühstück ist auch für Europäer fein und vielseitig. +Das grosse Gepäck konnte gratis für die dauer des Tracks abgegeben werden. -Einziger Minuspukt ist dass das Zimmer sehr ringhörg ist und man den Bach die ganze Zeit laut rauschen hört. Auf jeden Fall sehr empfehlenswert.

Ich war wirklich beeindruckt mit diesem Hotel. Natürlich ist es grundlegende, aber es hat alles, was Sie brauchen. Das Front Desk Personal war super hilfreich und sprach Englisch gut. Frühstück in ganz Peru, wie ich fand, waren einfach, und das war nicht anders. Aber sie hatten Eier und Toast, Kaffee, Saft und Tee, so dass ich glücklich war. Die Betten waren komfortabel und die Aussichten sind großartig. Ich empfehle dieses Hotel! Es ist auch super sauber.

Also meiner Meinung nach hat ein Individualtourist hier nichts verloren. Eine Riesenanlage ohne Charme. Warum das Haus fünf Sterne erhalten hat erschließt sich mir nicht. Das Buchen über *********** war schnell gemacht. Ein Kontakt zum Hotel ließ sich nicht herstellen. Über booking bekam man keine Antwort. Auch auf emails nicht. Wir mussten uns am Bahnhof durchfragen und sind dann mit einem Taxi in eine total abgelegene Gegend gebracht worden. Hier ist weiter nichts. Die hohen Berge erlauben nur eingeschränkte Sonnenstunden. Viele lieben jedoch den Blick auf die Berge. Auch keine Restaurants in der Nähe. Das Hauseigene hat absolut keinen Charme, hat hohe Decken und ist sehr kalt. Die Speisekarte ist langweilig und hochpreisig. Wir haben uns dann an die Bar gesetzt und Snacks bestellt. Mein Hühnchen war paniert und völlig geschmacklos. Die Barfrau sehr höflich und freundlich. Trotzdem, jemand, der Essen und Trinken mag, ist hier definitiv falsch. Das Frühstück ist gut, Kaffee ist allerdings schwer zu bekommen. Entweder man nimmt den aus einer Wärmekanne, der ist allerdings nur lauwarm. Oder man benutzt den einzigen Automaten, für ein Hotel mit ungefähr 200 Zimmern. Anstatt weitere Automaten aufzustellen, wird man per Schild gebeten, weniger frequentierte Zeiten zu wählen. Aus dem Automaten kommt etwa alle 60 Sekunden ein Kaffee raus, daher sind die Schlangen lang. Bei uns war der Automat auch noch ständig defekt. Ganz schlecht organisiert. Das Zimmer war groß, die Matratzen sehr gut. Das Bad jedoch renovierungsbedürftig, Fugen rausgebrochen und die Duschtür schließt nicht richtig, sodass die Fußmatte vor der Dusche klatschnass wird. Man soll kein Papier in die Toilette werfen, für so ein großes fünf Sterne Hotel peinlich. Eine Pumpenanlage löst das in anderen Häusern. Das Hotel ist quasi auf der grünen Wiese und nicht mitten in der Stadt. In unserem Preis von 175,- USD war nur Frühstück inclusive, Wellness und Spa nur gegen sehr teures Geld. Die Anlage ist sauber und gepflegt und die Mitarbeiter allesamt sehr freundlich mit Spaß und lächelnd bei ihrer Arbeit. Jeden Tag um 8.00 Uhr, 12.00 Uhr und 16.00 Uhr werden vier junge Alpakas von Kindern der Gäste gefüttert. Sehr charmant anzusehen.

Mein zweiter Aufenthalt im Tambo & es ist immer gut, wieder zu sein! Schöne Zimmer, schöne Aussichten, leckeres Frühstück, freundliches Personal, wird wieder kommen

Firstly I will start with the positives, the hotel was nice with beautiful greenery surrounding. The decor certainly wasn’t modern however it was perfectly fine. Secondly the negatives, customer service was inadequate. Two of us are vegetarian and one morning we had to leave before breakfast opened so were told we would have ‘takeaway breakfast’. We clarified that these would be vegetarian three times (at checkin, the night before and in the morning when collecting the bags) but when we got on our journey we found they both contained ham. This is absolutely unacceptable and I hope they treat allergens more seriously or they could kill someone. When we mentioned this to the receptionist she just smiled and nodded and said ‘oh okay’, which is not an acceptable response. Also you have to pay for water here which we were absolutely fine with. When we bought a second lot on the second day we realised we had paid double the amount the previous day. When I said this to the receptionist again she just nodded and after a long pause said she would call someone. Other members of our tour group also agreed they had paid double the price the previous day. The following morning the receptionist was extremely rude and told us we were lying. She also told us, in a borderline threatening manner, that everything we do is on camera which is a bit weird given we were in a hotel so hoping she didn’t mean ‘everything’ as that’s a gross invasion of privacy. When we asked to watch the camera footage she was speaking of she told us it wasn’t available. The amount of money was not significant but the reaction of staff was wholly inappropriate - especially for a hospitality business. Overall would not recommend anyone stay here. Customer service skills require a lot of improvement.
