Hotel Lake Star

Liked: Although this homestay, does not make a great first impression, I liked the fact that it is in close proximity to everything that is happening in and around Udaipur. The view from the Lake View Suite is best to none. The friendliness of staff and the hospitality of those who run the business - Faisal, Danish and their mother - is what would make you to go back to them. The restaurant on the top floor offers great view and the chef can cook anything that you ask for and even if they do not have something on the menu, they will go out of your way to get it for you. You have everything you need for a comfortable stay - hot shower, clean towels and a comfortable mattress. Disliked: Initially I did not like the fact that the car had to be parked a kilometer away from this homestay. But, I eventually understood that the old town is such that one could barely walk, let alone get a car. I did not like the quality of the shampoo and shower gel in the room, may be something to consider. The lake view room is spacious but very basic. The mattress for extra guests were left on the floor. The drinking water have to be picked up from the reception each night. We stayed two nights but I'm not sure whether they provide housekeeping services daily. The balcony in the lake view room can also be bit enhanced rather than having just a chair there.
