Das Hotel ist von aussen erstmal schoen und elegant. Die Restaurants sind toll, das Frühstück prima. Die Lage ist grandios und die Mitarbeiter meist freundlich. Soweit fein. Wir buchten ein Familienzimmer. Das erste Zimmer lag im Erdgeschoss und der Blick ging auf Strasse und Mauer. Man bot uns dann eines an, bei dem das Fenster am Boden war und auf Kniehöhe endete. Wir nahmen dann ein drittes mit Blick auf das Dach. Die etwa 25m2 grossrn Familienzimmer sind fuer Familienzimmer zu klein und man wuenscht sich in einem teuren 5 Sterne Haus auch Zimmer mit Aussicht. Es muesste entweder deutlich guenstiger sein oder schoenere Zimmer haben - so ist es enttaeuschend. Es wirkt als waeren die Zimmer irgendwie nachtraeglich reingestoepselt worden bei einem schlechten Umbau. Also vorsocht - die Bilder im Internet sind sehr beschoenigend.

Here are the main points I highlighted during my stay at Hotel Le Fer a Cheval: 1. Room - the room wasn’t renovated at all although it was advertised as such. Rather the room was outdated and had a lot of cracks and even mold. 2. Room temperature - the room was extremely hot with no ability to cool it. Opening the windows helped a little but there are huge drawback to keeping them open (see 3 below). 3. Noise - I mean LOTS of noise - locals, tourists, cars, delivery vehicles - 24/7. Also, there are several restaurants on the street which are opened late. Therefore, expect sleepless nights. 4. Bed - the bed and the pillows were very uncomfortable which, combined with sleepless nights, will give anyone a headache. 5. Toiletries - zero! There was a bottle of shower gel / shampoo but it was empty. 6. Staff - staff were nice but only up to a certain point. Accommodating a reasonable request is not something one should expect from them. The bottom line - value for money is 1 out of 10 so I would stay away from this place.

We first stayed at the Hotel Mercure in Trouville-Sur-Mer as part of a package deal through Brittany Ferries in August 2022, and our experience was so positive that we decided to return for 4 nights arriving Monday 7th August 2023, again through a Brittany Ferries package: We were not disappointed with our decision to return! As before, the hotel was clean, and our room was cleaned daily, and the location of the hotel is superb, just 2-5 minutes walk to the beach, and within minutes (or seconds!) walk of lots of local restaurants. A walk (or ferry) to Deauville, and the beach/boardwalk there is definitely recommended, but please see my previous review in August 2022 for more information on location, and on the hotel itself. However, the main thing which made us feel so happy to return was the staff at the hotel. All of the staff we encountered at Reception were both friendly and helpful. All spoke excellent English, although occasionally my wife would ask if she could practice her French, which was always agreed to, and then embarked on a conversation in French about various things, including our usual need for milk each day for our tea. (Du lait, s’il vous plaît, pour le thé. Nous sommes Anglais!). Specific thanks this year go to Lindsay for her help and patience, although, as stated above, all Reception staff are thanked! We again emphasise to the reader the advantage of booking through Brittany Ferries as this yields a very good saving compared to booking both the ferry and the hotel independently. Overall, again, a very enjoyable stay, and we hope to come back soon! Merci beaucoup!!

We stayed 12 days in this hotel close to the beach which is far away from a 4* hotel. The welcome area is cozy and nicely decorated. The rooms style on 2nd floor has been refreshed and it is calm except in case of incredibly noisy DJ sessions with yelling guests that took place twice in the hotel lobby. The cleaning service is badly organized, often cleaned the room after 4 pm and forgot it twice due to missing staff. They regularly forgot to renew the towels, took our sponge to clean baby bottles and the last day they threw away my Garmin heart rate belt that I forgot in the bathroom instead of giving it to the welcome desk. The hotel staff is polite and joyful but overloaded and understaffed. The breakfast is full of unfreezed bread, croissants and jam in huge glasses that are served every day in the same receptacle. The guy and the young lady that served and tidied up the breakfast room were inefficient and impolite. The baby chair was not cleaned and still dirty the next day. Tea selection was not refilled, The same completely moldy raisins were served 2 days in a row just as if the young waitress had not checked the food at all. The microwave in the lobby used to heat water for baby milk was very dirty from the beginning to the end of our stay. The rental bikes are in bad shape: 2 of them with flat tires and all with small wheels and frame. You can relax in this hotel but should not expect a 4* spa hotel. The price is too high for a low 3* hotel!

Das kleine Boutiquehotel liegt in einer sehr schmalen Gasse unweit des tollen Strandes. Das sehr saubere und chic eingerichtete Zimmer war zwar nicht groß aber komfortabel eingerichtet. Das Bett hochwertig und bequem. Das an sich sehr gute Frühstück mit regionalen Produkten (wir saßen immer im kleinen Innenhof) war bis auf den Kaffeé ausgezeichnet - für einen (leider schlechten) Cappuccino oder Espresso musste man extra bezahlen. Das gesamte Team sehr freundlich und bemüht. Einzig die Parkplätze sind hier eine mühsame Sache! Entweder man bezahlt oder macht sich geduldig in kurzer Entfernung auf die Suche. An der Rezeption gibt es dafür auch einen Plan wo man gebührenfrei parken kann. Unser Zimmer hatte keine Klimaanlage! Alles in allem eine Empfehlung für entspannte Tage!
