I don't know where to begin, this place was amazing to me. I have travelled a lot, but never solo in a place where I'm not a fluent speaker and don't know a soul - I stayed here solo for 10 days in the Playa Negra room, and from the moment I checked in I felt so safe, secure, and well cared for. The room was spacious and incredibly clean, the halls and common spaces also so secure and maintained. The staff were so gentle and accommodating, helping me with anything that came up, including things like booking tours, where to go to shop or to change money, how to get to the beach quickly, etc! I was so anxious to take on this trip by myself, but the staff and vibe is why I know I'll return to Tamarindo soon. I felt I have made friends due to the real human sincerity that I was shown. I was even given a yoga mat and block for my room when the receptionist learned I was practicing yoga in my room on the floor; By the way, there are free activities every few nights in the hotel and the Mercadito beside it, such as yoga classes, salsa classes, cocktail making classes, so you will always have something to do even if you don't go on tours and are on a budget! The Sol Bakery and Mercadito beside the hotel offer so much variety of food and beverage, and within Zulu there are two lounge areas as well for when the rain hits, so you will have plenty of space and access even if you stay in a smaller room. Everyone is generally very friendly and warm, again, a total dream socially! The location is pretty much unbeatable, within 3 minutes walking distance you can be at some of the best coffee shops, food, supermarkets and bulk stores, the beach, tour operators, many souvenir shops and clothing stores, etc. So staying here can allow you to have either a very touristic experience or a more locally-rhythmed one, it's up to you. It is also very central and so, very safe. The beach is literally across the street. One last thing to mention is the ease of check-in and check-out. Shuttle buses to the airports can be arranged to directly drop you to the hotel, so as long as you plan ahead with the staff you will be taken care of. I can't wait to come back, and when I stay in Tamarindo, this is where I'll stay.

Sehr freundlicher und herzlicher Empfang. Wir fühlten uns hier richtig wohl. Generell ist die Atmosphäre im Hotel sehr angenehm, sogar familiär und das auch unter den Gästen, die man zuvor nicht kannte. Das Hotel liegt zwar nicht am Strand, ist aber im Zentrum von Tamarindo. Der Weg zum Strand ist nicht weit. Nachts kann es trotzdem etwas laut sein, deswegen empfehle ich Leuten, die einen leichten Schlaf haben, Ohrstöpsel mit zu nehmen. Gefrühstückt wird draussen beim Pool. Ab und zu kommt sogar eine grosse Echse zu Besuch. Das Personal ist extrem freundlich und hilfreich. An unserem Abreisetag ging es mir nicht gut weil ich wahrscheinlich am Vorabend etwas Schlechtes gegessen hatte. Ich bekam ein extraleichtes Frühstück mit einem Gingertee. Eine der Hotelangestellten schaute sogar nach einer offenen Apotheke am Sonntag. Ich möchte mich an dieser Stelle noch einmal herzlich für den tollen Einsatz bedanken. Das werde ich nie vergessen.

Wir haben nach einer 2 wöchigen Rundreise, die wir über IMAGENES TROPICALES TOURS / San Jose direkt gebucht haben (Geheimtipp, sehr professionell!) noch eine 1 Woche zur ”Erholung” im Wyndham gebucht und waren begeistert. Wie schon in den bisherigen Bewertungen geschildert ist die Lage mit Blick auf die Bucht von Tamarindo sensationell. Vor allem genossen wir jeden Abend den Sonnenuntergang im grossen und tollen Infinity Pool. Hinsichtlich der Getränkepreise, insbesondere der Softgetränke, ist tatsächtlich noch ”Luft nach unten”. Andererseits waren wir mit der Qualität und Auswahlt, dem Preis-/ leistungsverhältnis der Speisen sehr zufrieden. Ebenso können wir den Beach Club ”Langosta” aufgrund der tollen Strandlage und der sehr guten Küche empfehlen. Die Angestellen, vor allem Ronaldo von der Pool Bar, waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Unser Fazit: Tolles Ferienhotel!

Mein Freund und ich blieben 3 Nächte im Hotel Mar Rey am Ende unserer 8-Nacht-Reise nach Costa Rica und absolut LOVE it!! Die einzige Beschwerde, die ich über dieses Hotel habe, ist, dass ich wünsche, ich hätte länger bleiben können. Es war unser erstes Mal nach Tamarindo, und dieses Hotel war perfekt für uns. Der beste Teil dieses Hotels ist die Lage ... buchstäblich 5 Minuten zu Fuß von allem, was Sie tun möchten und RECHT über die Straße vom Strand. Wir haben einen Deluxe King Zimmer mit A/C, ziehen Sie Futon, ein großes Deck mit Blick auf den Pool, TV, Mikrowelle, Kaffeemaschine und Kühlschrank. Der Pool und Grill waren großartig! Das Personal war super hilfreich und freundlich - sie halfen sogar zu organisieren Transport zum Flughafen Tamarindo für uns. Wir würden gerne mit Familie und Freunden zurückkommen, um länger zu bleiben!

Wir haben einen sehr guten Aufenthalt verbracht, persönliche Unterpflege und der Schweizer Manager hat uns gute Pläne gegeben... Das Frühstück ist ausgezeichnet für einen wirklich sehr richtigen Preis-Qualitäts-Beziehung. Früh am Morgen gibt es eine Affenfamilie, die sich auf den Dachen wandelt, was sehr nett zu sehen war... Ich empfehle geschlossene Augen 😊
