Albert & Victoria Hotel

Well David always looks after me, very friendly and welcoming, I'm a professional model and I travel all over and Dave has a studio here and he has been brilliant, I was staying here 2nights, room was fine, he provided breakfast for me, both mornings and it was lovely, felt at ease and comfortable, I've already worked with him a few times and it's been great and we've already booked 2 weekends in again, looking forward to being back. Thank you loads always Dave.

When you’ve been looking forward to your little break and get quite excited whilst packing, only to arrive and be most unwelcome, no smile, no conversation, no information just took our money and told us where to go. Just wish we had turned around before we paid. I would also say there are lots of old photographs on the website, it’s quite rundown now. We didn’t stay, didn’t even unpack. Would not recommend.

We loved it here, room spotless we were on the ground floor and had our own entrance! Round the corner from all we needed to do, host very friendly and checked in quick, we opted to have breakfast our 2nd morning and wow, it was well worth the money, so recommend having that as well, all in all we had a fantastic stay, will stay again Thankyou so much, The Todd’s, Manchester!

Loved it here. Room was perfect bed was so comfortable. Was dubious after reading reviews but was perfect. Didn’t have breakfast as wanted a lie in haha but looked amazing and plenty of it. The only downside was it was a little bit cold in the room

I booked this place based on Google reviews and location to where we needed to be. I wished I had paid a few extra quid and booked the Premier Inn just over the footbridge. Whatever that photo is on TripAdvisor, it doesn't bear much resemblance to what you see when you pull up. The hotel has a 'tired' feel to it. I suspect it is understaffed as the reception was locked despite being 2:00pm in the afternoon. After parking in the extremely small car park we managed to obtain our key by phoning a mobile number to attract the attention of whoever was manning the reception and headed off to our room. I will say in its defence, the bed was clean and comfortable but that really is about it. There were plug sockets hanging off the wall exposing the wires in them. All the fittings were old, the decor was uninviting and had seen better days and there was some sort of cupboard containing a hob, sink, toaster and kettle. Ironically, despite there being power supplied to the unit to operate the hob, there were no sockets to plug the toaster or kettle in meaning that you had to resort to one of the sockets hanging off the wall which are all located approximately 2 inches off the ground. The bathroom was small but functional although there was mold on the tiles in the shower. The shower worked well but it is not the kind of place you would look forward to coming back to. The icing on the cake was when we returned one afternoon to change prior to going out for dinner, there were two clearly drunk women sitting out the front of the hotel on plastic garden chairs in front of a plastic garden table with tins of beer and wine piled up. From this, I suspect the hotel is also being used as a hostel for benefit recipients who need housing. There was evidence in the reception of refurb work being carried out but it has a long way to go to meet the standards of other hotels I have stayed in and that's a shame as it has a very prominent location in Southport opposite the lake.

The most horrendous stay ever! Unfriendly and unapproachable staff, shower dangerously hot, room filthy with damp and mould, plug sockets hanging off wall and not working, TV control with cellotape to hold ot together and no fresh towels or bedding. Moved rooms wasn't any better! Avoid like the plague!

No heating in any of the building, weather wet & chilly so needed warmth was told by Dave (proprietor) 'think yourself lucky mines colder!' It comes on at 6pm, it didn't. Contacted Dave a 2nd time he came to room 8 with a radiator key, he wasn't able to bleed it, and hit it hard a few times saying I'll get the plumber out tomorrow-he didn't as I expected he wouldn't as it is Sunday. It started dripping water on left side. He came back with an electric heater, the smell of dust once turned on was dreadful and no PAT test label. A generally old & tired building that needs work, was booked for 3 nights, and chose to leave after 1. Dave never asked why or if he could do anything so either he was expecting us to leave or just didn't care. Shame really as in good position on promenade Won't recommend or return.

Lovely Room, very friendly and welcoming, breakfast was great. Good value for money. Staff we're very friendly and helpful. Great location for all attractions, pubs and things to do. We had a lovely time.

Car park Clean as a whistle Great location Comfortable beds Great staff Its a B and B , admittedly, but just a short walk form the main areas (which are mostly derelict now, or shut down...boarded up.) Southport has seen better days!!
