Rosslyn Thracia Hotel Sofia

Overall not bad but we encountered some of the grumpiest staff ever at this hotel! Even when saying good morning to housekeeping you got a grumpy look in return. They do not provide complimentary water in the rooms which for an alleged 4 star is not very good. When I asked to use the water machine downstairs to fill my bottle (which they use for breakfast) I got told to go and buy my own water. Charming. Stains on the carpet, rips/holes in the linen, a shower that doesn’t drain very well and thus over flows. 3 stars at best unfortunately.

First of all a shout out to Mariella and Julian, the two front desk representatives that helped me have a very pleasant stay here when everything didn't go exactly as planned. The hotel is very close to the old town and all the historical buildings that you would want to visit. It is a relatively small hotel but there is enough room for them to have an adequate breakfast bar and oftentimes people would be doing business on their laptops in the reception area. The room that I was in was quite spacious, had a good size bathroom but a tiny shower. It made up for being small by having copious amounts of hot water for a relatively long hot shower after a cold day of wandering. There was plenty of storage room for clothing and a good-sized safe. The bed was comfortable like in most European countries the king-size bed consisted of two twins being shoved together. Another anomaly was that the day before I arrived the weather had been warmer and they have essential heating/air conditioning system which they had shifted from heating to air conditioning. Due to that I was unable to get the heater to work but they did supply me with a space heater which worked relatively well. I also had difficulty hooking up to Netflix the first night and Mariela got that taken care of the next day. For those relatively minor difficulties they made up for it by making my breakfast complementary, a nice touch which speaks to their commitment to their customers happy a pleasant stay here in Sofia. One last call future is a little yellow mechanism that you can go to and press the button and it will call a taxi for you which will show up at the door within about five to seven minutes! That was a new one for me. On and all it was a very pleasurable experience and I would recommend the hotel.

Let me start by saying I have traveled to over 60 countries and stayed in many hotels. I do not give out a low rating unless deserved. My husband and I had an early flight to Sofia, arriving around 9:30AM. We are very much aware that it is not always possible to check in that early but thought we would just ask, doesn’t hurt to ask. We walked in and give our name saying we were checking in and before we could even say that we knew we were early, the girl behind the desk says in a not so friendly tone that we are too early. She said you are way too early you cannot check in this early, check in is at 3PM. We say ok that’s fine, so we leave our bags and go out. We come back to hotel around 1PM and check in, no info such as helpful tips and maybe a map or where to go, nothing. Our room was nice. Our bathtub didn’t hold water and the shower head barely trickled water out. We did tell the front desk, they fixed the shower head but not the tub. On our last day we decided to ask the same young rude girl if she could help us arrange a taxi to the airport and she told us “ that’s a very long process and I cannot do that with only a days notice.” She suggests we try to find a taxi ourselves at 7AM without any clue as to where we might do this. The day we checked out there was a man behind the desk and we thought maybe he could help us arrange a taxi, he says sure, no problem, all I have to do is press a button and the taxi will be here within 5 minutes. So luckily this nice man literally pressed a button, I saw him do it and the taxi arrived shortly after. So not sure as to what long process was involved in that. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Go somewhere where the staff are friendly and helpful and don’t make you feel like a bother.

The staff was very efficient and very friendly. I arrived two hours before the stated check-in time, just hoping that they could store my luggage. The receptionist instead said that my room was ready and checked me in. Those small kindnesses, to a weary traveller, are greatly appreciated. Kudos to the staff. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the Serdika metro station and 1/2 block from Vitosha Boulevard. The breakfast offered was ample, and the rooms were well appointed. The Rosslyn Thracia Hôtel will be my base whenever I go to Sofia.

This is a decent location, seconds to walk to bars and restaurants in the heart of where you need to be. We got a massive room for what is essentially a city break. Huge bed with a sofa in it. The hotel is a bit small, like there isn’t really a lobby, you sort of just walk into the restaurant, and the room was dated, but they are the only things I can fault. Overall really good value

The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Very good location, close to everything. My only recommendation is the service. While we were having breakfast, the staff at the reception were having a loud conversation that was louder than ours. Also, It would be better if there is a way to call for the garage attendant in front of the garage, instead of us getting out of the car and looking for him in the reception area.

Great location near Vitosha street, friendly personnel, buffet breakfast, clean and comfortable room with enough space for 3 people, excellent bed and parking under the hotel. Overall a very good choice. I would recommend it.

Great location and convenient hotel. This is our second stay there, so not too bad. Staff are helpful and friendly.

Central location and comfortable mattress. However, the room contained sharp corners and trip hazards. The shower was leaking. TV does not connect on Wi-Fi. Poorly designed bathroom as the shower cabin is dated and with a strong potential of hitting head when entering or exiting. Tissue dispenser placed so close to the toilet bowl that it is extremely uncomfortable. Damp and dusty air in the corridors. No bar or restaurant, the lobby is small. This hotel is miles away from claimed standards.
