We stayed there for a week, as a part of a hiking tour. Very spacious room, friendly and professional staff. Very helpful. Very conveniently located for the lifts, shopping and transport. Most of all,, we liked the hotel food! We stayed half board, although the breakfast was simple (but adequate), dinner every night was very good. Will definitely recommend this hotel.

Very good quite formal hotel. Spotlessly clean. Excellent staff in all areas, efficient, polite and the hotel ran like clockwork. The twin room I had was at the front of the hotel. Very spacious room, walk in wardrobe, large bathroom, sofa, table, fridge & TV. Large balcony which would be super in Summer. The food was excellent although rather too much for me. I did find the lighting a little harsh in the dining room and if I had not been with a large group might have found it a little lacking in atmosphere. I didn’t use the spa & treatments but those in the party who did, said they were very good. My only criticism would be that the hotel was extremely hot & if the bedroom window was left open there was quite a lot of traffic noise. The hotel is in an excellent location in the lovely village/town of Selva The bus stop is very close to the hotel, which is excellent for travelling up & down the valley. All in all a very pleasant stay and I would recommend this hotel especially if you prefer the more traditional hotel to the more modern boutique type hotel

This is a good hotel. Very clean, maintained and efficiently run. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is not so close to the ski lifts that you don’t need to take the ski buses. But the bus stop is outside the hotel. We stored our skies in the ski depots next to the lifts so we could easily walk to the lifts from the hotel. Our ‘Comfort’ room is nice, quiet and very clean. The bathroom is very small and the bath taps only gave a trickle of hot water. The shower is in the bath so it’s very small. The food is good. The breakfast is OK but no fresh omelettes or poached eggs. Dinner is four or five courses with two choices for the main courses. The salad bar is very good. The quality of the food and wine is also good. Service is prompt and friendly. The spa compared to other hotels in the area is poor. Lots of people sharing the same sauna and jacuzzi etc. No windows and the floors wet and slippery. We only used it the once. I did gave the hotel a 4 star rating only because of the tiny bathroom, poor spa and overall value for money. At £430 per night for a small room for two people it’s not great value. We stayed at the Hotel Tyrol in Selva before which is very good and right next to a ski lift. Although to be fair it does cost more.

Stayed here for a week’s skiing, we were a mixed group of two couples, a single gentleman, and a mum and daughter. So impressed with this hotel - rooms very spacious, fabulous food and a great spa area with treatments. The boot room was bigger than many with room numbered, heated boot racks making everything very organised. The hotel is about a 10-15min walk from the gondola but the ski bus stops outside and is fairly regular. Coming back at the end of the day, you can cut across and ski back to a road opposite the hotel! The staff really made this hotel. First the dining room: Giuseppe runs the team and is truly excellent. Very polished with every little detail covered. Some of us are vegetarians and our food was tremendous. The courses are many but small which was lovely. There was also a buffet with great fresh salad, fish, meats etc. our main server was Lisabeth - charming and again, very attentive. Breakfast was also fabulous - all the staff were very happy to bring fresh coffees and make sure that the plentiful buffet was replenished - no excuse for going to the slopes hungry! In the bar, which is a lovely room, Daniel (and another chap whose name I can’t remember) was excellent. He kept drinks and free snacks coming and the wine drinkers in the party tasted some lovely local wines. The spa area has to be booked so they can limit the numbers, but it was easy to do. The area is spotless and includes whirlpool, sauna, steam room, Turkish bath, aromatherapy room, ice room, showers and relaxation area. We had a few massages and Maria was both friendly and incredible at providing massages….the mauri sports massage was amazing for easing our tired legs! All in all, I cannot fault this hotel. Everything was lovely and it was a great base for skiing in the area. We’ve stayed elsewhere in the Dolomites but this gave us a new perspective. In addition to the resorts on the Sellaronda, we were able to ski new areas (new for us) such as Alpe de Suisi and Ortesei. We will be going back to Oswald!

Overall we enjoyed our stay in The Oswald. Positives as follows; Spa Room quality Staff Evening meal Location Cleanliness General decor is lovely Not so positive: Breakfast was not great No tea or coffee in the room Bar was lacking atmosphere Wine expensive with evening meal Still quite a trek to the lifts Quite noisy if you have a room facing the main road Overall we had a great holiday and the staff were all lovely. Selva as a resort is really all set on a very busy road and whilst a beautiful location is lacking character. It is a great base but I think I would prefer to stay in Covarra if I return to the Dolomites. Overall recommended and the Dolomites is a great experience

Booked two rooms (one for myself and wife, one for my 28yo daughter). Clean, warm, tidy, excellent service. One minor quibble: room was rather warm, with no thermostat, so we kept the window open at night, which was rather wasteful of electricity. Our balcony was spacious and really allowed you to sit out and enjoy the view. Bath/shower was clean and spacious, food and drink good including unusually good house wine. Shuttle access to ski-lift etc always prompt and convenient (you can easily take the public bus, but I tend to struggle to manage mask, bus ticket, skis, gloves and goggles when boarding). On the main road, so a little traffic noise - not a problem for us - but no loud/late bars which is a defnite plus. If you want them, they're not far away!

Not too big, but big enough to have good facilities. It has kept the main features of its period (I expected to bump into Poirot) while adding modern necessities. The public areas are impressive, especially the dining room chandeliers. I do agree, though, that the harsh lighting makes it lack atmosphere. The food is modern multi-course, making meal times lengthy - not always what is wanted after a tiring day and not always liked by those who prefer traditional hearty ski holiday fare to 'chefy' meals. I must point out to one reviewer that wine is served by the glass in both the dining room and the bar. They put couples and small family groups in the more intimate window area and big groups like ours in the main central space. The 'choose your meal the night before' system is used. Some hotels just do it for overall numbers but here they find it essential that you remain at the same table which was too inflexible for us as we like to sit with different people each night and not have to arrive all together for whole table service. My single room overlooking the main street had everything I needed including loads of wardrobe space and hangers. The bedroom was quite traditional with lots of wood, the shower room super modern with lots of space to leave toiletries out. The old style approach unfortunately includes old style over-heating throughout the hotel. The only way I could sleep was by turning off the radiator and leaving the large window open while I went down to dinner. It had to be closed at night due to traffic noise but I kept the radiator off. The shower room heating was separate. Don't take any warm clothes to wear indoors! As others have said, the whole hotel is immaculately clean with sanitising maintained post-Covid. I didn't use the main spa but did have massages to keep me skiing. Maria did a wonderful job on the muscles around my damaged knee; I can thoroughly recommend her sports massage. The staff all do a great job and were welcoming, helpful and friendly. In Selva skiers always have a dilemma about choosing location. The Oswald is a short distance from the nearest nursery slopes and the return from Dantercepies/Colfosco but most people use the bus to the nearest lift for the rest of the slopes. The bus stop is right outside the hotel but buses can get busy. They are frequent for the main valley route but not for all routes. If you are able to ski to the other lifts it can be better to do that.

Generally an excellent hotel with a few minor ******* that wouldn't prevent me from staying here again. The hotel doesn't have that small, family-run feel, but the staff are friendly and helpful - maybe a couple of the staff are quite formal, but still polite and obliging. The food probably isn't the best I've encountered in the Dolomite area, but still very high quality - you would pay a small fortune for something on this level in the UK. The evening meal has a well-stocked and varied buffet/salad bar for starter, followed by four further courses. I don't believe the hotel serves wine by the glass and bottles start around €25. I found the breakfast slightly less varied and there's no decent facility for toast (George Foreman style grill?), but I didn't go hungry with lots of fresh fruit, cereals, ham & cheeses, pastries breads etc. The spa area is clean and quiet with plenty of fresh towels. There are aroma and steam rooms, sauna and whirlpool but; massages etc. are also available for additional cost. The rooms are immaculate and cleaned every day with towels replaced as required. The hotel is in a great location for hiking or walking, with bus stops for free local buses directly outside the front door. July/August is quite busy in Selva so the buses can be a bit of a scrum but there's lots to do if you don't fancy the transport. If you enjoy outdoor activity in the fresh air in stunning surroundings then you can't go wrong with the Hotel Oswald in Selva.
