Domaine de Barive les Epicuriens

I’m not sure what was more shocking the hotel and facilities or lack of ! Or the response from the hotel owner who basically called me a liar and he wasn’t even there. Good job I took pictures to back up my claims. Disgusting treatment of guests, facilities which they highlight most were in poor condition or not working… no bar staff, paint and up keep missing from pool and set around the property show just how much they care about it… still using stock images from when it opened I guess. Not the reality !!

You have to leave the main highway and drive 15 miles to get to this wonderful old farmhouse, completely renovated and transfoormed in a hotel. The lanscapes are beautiful, the gardens and decoration also. We stayed in a very nice room in what were the stables. Bed, linnens, furniture, bathroom and shower. All perfect. Only “but” is the Domaine is isolated, not many places where you can eat. Fortunatly the place has a nice restaurant. We were there on a monday, the kitchen was closed. We were offeed a fixed menu for 60 euros per person. The food was just ok. Heated for us. We found it quite expensive for what it was… Overall great experience. Worth the détour

A wonderful and peaceful stop a little way off the autobahn. The Epicurean Restaurant is very special and the staff are all helpful friendly and efficient. A really special place to break a journey overnight or relax for a few days.

Just read another recent review and it could well have been written by me.... We stayed here en route to the Alps. Only a one night stay in a Junior Suite with access to the walled garden. What a fabulous place. Tucked away seemingly in the middle of nowhere it is quite a find. Lovely welcome drink by the fire in the lounge, great spacious comfortable suite and then the dinner which was quite frankly superb. Great service and great food. Two other couples we spoke to were on return trips and i can see why. Highly recommended.

This chateau is beautiful. We had a lovely room (not in the main building) which had a living area, bedroom, bathroom and separate toilet. Everything was spotlessly clean and our dog was very happy with a huge enclosed garden just outside! Our evening meal was tasty, although we did have to ask if our food was on its way after one and a quarter hours. Breakfast was help yourself. No cooked options, but perfectly adequate. It’s about 30 mins off the A26, but well worth the detour. Hope to return one day.

Lovely domaine/hotel surrounded by fields,forest and nature for long walks with professional friendly staff. Impressive menu and for days restaurant is closed a good mini menu. Modern bathrooms & amenities - spa/ pool.

A wonderful short stay. Welcoming staff. Room very spacious with massive bathroom and bed with private terrace. Had tasting menu as a special treat and it was superb (some of the best food we have ever tasted). Will definitely return.

Super nice Hotel, in the middle of nowhere amazing rooms we had a Junior suite super nice out side the hotel in side you can do spa. Negative point is the non organisation of the staff, young and not particularly kind. We had dinner there, standard food and waiters that seemed lost.
