Newcastle West|0.96km Entfernung von Sacred Heart Cathedral, Hamilton
I stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks during my business visit to Newcastle. Not a pleasant stay overall but let me start with positives: 1) Its a quite hotel so if you want to have a peaceful evenings and quite mornings, this hotel is for you 2) Ample amount of parking space if you are travelling by car 3) Complimentary Popcorns are available for guests to relish on. I enjoyed them 4) Location is perfect if your stay is longer. Woolworths, BigW, Coles, Dan Murphys, McDonalds, Subway, Newcastle Interchng station is all walking distance 5) Beaches are scenic. Must go and experience Now the cons: 1) Property is old and not very well maintained 2) If you are travelling during rainy season (or if you come across a thunderstorm, you might have to change the room as windows leak due to lack of maintenance 3) Breakfast has less options and not something to boast about 4) I didnt see any security camera in room corridors. Not sure if its because of some kind of privacy regulation or there were hidden cameras or there was nothing 5) Aircons are pretty old or probably not well maintained. My aircon didnt work. I reported but no one paid a heed. Thankfully it was my last night to spend and it wasnt too hot also so I survived 6) The room I was alloted, wasnt cleaned everyday & rubbish was not picked up. After I changed my room due to rainwater leak, somehow it was done My Personal Experiences (Not specific to Hotel) 1) I had to get up and evacuate the hotel once early morning and once in a middle of the night because of false fire alarm (I KNOW HOTEL MANAGEMENT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT) but I am sharing my bad experiences 2) Newcastle as a place is dead. Only Fridays/Saturdays you see humans moving around post 08:00 PM else its all dead (NOT HOTEL SPECIFIC) 3) You will feel little unsecure at Steel St / King St because of dead culture in Newcastle

The good : The rooms are large , spacious, and good size kitchen, and lounge and eating eras with seperate bedroom and washing facilities, so great for a longer stay as I did for 7 days. The pool and spa are a nice touch all indoors and very relaxing after a hot humid day. The rooms are very neat and tidy, starting to show their age a bit, but still very functional. The beds are a bit firm and could have the room for king size, i think the mattress could be due for a replacement. The bathrooms are aged some what with the old step into the bath to have a shower routine, thus time for a refurbishment to be carried out on those. The OK: Only one air con for the large rooms, so your bedroom can get quite hot, and my ceiling fan didn’t work, so not as comfortable as it could have been. Some of the carpets in hallways are a bit thread bear and needs replacing, and the pool area needs a repaint, but all minor issues . The bad: Seems to be a theme with quests of late, the car park, besides the fact getting into the place to do a check in is near impossible as there is no parking on the street , so park a few blocks away, walk to the entrance and get the remote to open the 30 dollar a day car parking gate, the parking is 30 dollars a day for your car to sit in the sun or rain and not get stolen on the street, so lets call the room rate +30 dollars, as there is NO WAY you would park your car on the street around the area, as its a bit seedy at night. Honestly just include it in the room rate and if you don’t park here you get a 30 dollar discount… ?? There was a time car parks for a hotel were free… I must be old school, I guess ;)

Shared 3 bedroom apartment with friends. Price point is reasonable - you get what you pay for compared to the more expensive modern apartments. Not sure I would stay again. Pros: large spacious apartment with all amenities for a longer stay. Location central with shopping centre for groceries etc 10 min walk away. Restaurants and Civic theatre close by. Cons:dated and shabby - needs some TLC - worn carpets, bathrooms need re-grouting. There was a problem with cockroaches in the kitchen which we have reported. Parking would be tight for larger cars as it is tight .
