die direkte Lage am Meer ist ebenso hervorzuheben, wie der hervorragende Service und die geräumigen Hotelzimmer. Für einen unbeschwerten Urlaub kann ich das Hotel Vasco da Gama uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Auch das nahgelegene Naturschutzgebiet und der weitläufige Strand laden je nach Geschmack zum Joggen oder Wandern ein, da die Wassertemperaturen des Atlantiks um diese Jahreszeit wohl nur noch Nordseefans ins sprichwörtlich kühle Nass locken. Alternativ können bei Interesse auch direkt im Hotel oder Fahrradgeschäften Leihfahrräder entliehen werden zum Erkunden der schönen Umgebung. Den gehobenen Altersdurchschnitt unter den Urlaubsgästen kann ich zwar durchaus bestätigen, finde ihn aber nicht störend, da ich selber zum gesetzteren Publikum zähle.

Uitstekend appartement, ruim, keuken met grill-magnetron, koffiezet apparaat, waterkoker, broodrooster, koelkast. Woongedeelte met bank, tafel met 4 stoelen, tv met erg veel zenders, maar slechts 1 Nederlandstalige (BVN). We zaten op de vijfde verdieping aan de zuidzijde waar de zon van ca 08.00 tot 15.00 uur op het grote balkon scheen. Slaapkamer met goed bed en voldoende kastruimte. Gratis kluisje. We konden ter plaatse dagelijks een perfect ontbijt bijboeken voor 7,50 p.p. dagelijkse schoonmaak en we kregen elke dag schone handdoeken. Er is een klein zwembad en fitnessruimte met o.a. Loopband en spinningfietsen.

The week before Christmas was the perfect time to enjoy this lovely hotel. It's well designed and well equipped. The rooms are a good size. The roof terrace a sun trap ideal for sun bathing and reading in December. The food was delicious. The staff were really helpful and friendly and all just five minutes walk to the enormous and largely empty beach. Monte Gordo is a bit busy for my taste in the summer but for a sunny winters break this was heavenly.

Second time I’ve visited this hotel. It was clean and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Location is excellent with the beach a 10 min walk and the square a 5 min walk. There is also a spar 2 minutes away and lots of restaurants near by. On both occasions my room was spotless and there was a safe, free of charge which i thought was really good. The pool area was small but there were ample beds available due to the time of year. Sometimes I even had it to myself. Also very clean. Breakfast was simple but nice. A variety of cereals, breads, cheeses, meats and fruit. Then a small selection of hot food. (Eggs, beans and sausages). It’s definitely my go to hotel when I’m in Monte Gordo.

Dies war meine erste Soloreise ins Ausland. Ich habe dieses Hotel gebucht, da es für die drei Tage, die ich geplant hatte, ein vernünftiges Angebot war. Was kann ich sagen? Auf den ersten Blick, wenn man den Empfangsbereich betritt, ist es wunderschön. So eine saubere, schrullige, hübsche Lobby. Der Rezeptionist war sehr freundlich und sagte mir, in meinem Zimmer stünden eine Flasche Wasser und heiße Getränke zur Verfügung ... kostenlos. Mein Zimmer lag im 2. Stock, am Ende eines langen Korridors, wo das Licht anging, wenn man vorbeikam. Mein Zimmer war wunderschön, sauber, geräumig, modern, wiederum eigenartig ... einfach nur verträumt. Das Frühstück gab es in einem schönen, sauberen Raum. Die Tische waren hübsch gedeckt, die üblichen Verdächtigen zum Frühstück: Müsli, Toast, Gebäck, Käse, S*****en, Speck usw., frische Säfte und ein Heißgetränkeautomat. Das Personal war sehr höflich und aufmerksam. Das Hotel selbst ist nur einen Steinwurf von einem wunderschönen Strand entfernt. Ricks Bar an einem Abend, schöne Atmosphäre, nettes Personal und gute Getränke. Wenn Sie hier zu Besuch sind und ein schönes Hotel zum Übernachten suchen, ist dieser Ort ein Muss! Es liegt in der Nähe des Strandes, von Bars und einer Auswahl an Restaurants. Ich hoffe, bald wieder vorbeizuschauen.

I really, truly hate writing negative or even average reviews, but my experience at this hotel left a lot to be desired. This is a hotel for older people, to be frank. Nearly every person I saw, with the exception of the staff and one or two middle-aged women, was 60+. Do not bring your children here, because they will not enjoy themselves. We’ll start with the positives: - I stayed in room 109 - lovely use of space, very nice balcony with a lovely view. VERY clean. - Cleaners all throughout the hotel were very polite and lovely. - The pool areas were gorgeous, very clean & the Bali beds were a delight. The spa area was good too. - Hotel very close to the beach. Check in was quick (more on this later) - The interior design is interesting! Not for everyone obviously, but I liked it. And now the negatives: - The biggest flaw in this hotel is the restaurant, particularly at dinner times. Very busy. - I cannot think of a word other than rancid to describe the food. I am not a fussy eater, but I genuinely wouldn’t serve the food they provided to my dog. I’ll attach a photo of the ‘salmon’ they served. The food was either dry, soggy, cold or just plain freezer food - veg, potatoes, everything. Felt like an Iceland showcase. Please do yourselves a favour and skip dinner at this hotel: it is not worth it. Breakfast however, ok! - The (one) waitress they had was always smiling which was lovely to see. The men were far too full on - the younger ones were lovely but the older gentlemen gave the impression they’d rather be anywhere else. I got approached asking what I’d like to drink whilst I was at the buffet which I thought was odd and quite rude. The constant checking up by multiple staff was also very uncomfortable - I’m trying to eat, please stop trying to make conversation. I got charged at checkout for a beer I hadn’t asked for and didn’t drink (I don’t drink beer…), but I wasn’t about to argue over €4. - The very odd one way entry system makes sense in terms of keeping up with who’s been into the restaurant, but is potentially dangerous for disabled people as the steps out of the restaurant aren’t overly accessible. - The check-in was quick, but too quick. No explanation of where anything was or even a mini map of the hotel. - Alma Spa was lovely, but not €17 euros lovely. Not everything worked. You also have to pay for a swimming cap on top of that. Overall - this hotel is not worthy of 4 stars. It’s barely even worth 2. Please save your money and look elsewhere. 3/5.

Für 12 Tage bewohnte ich ein Apartement mit seitlichem Meerblick in der 7. Etage. Wer auf 70er- Jahre Design und Architekur steht, kommt hier auf seine Kosten. Es ist allerdings auch alles dem Alter entsprechend abgenutzt… (Es gibt aber wohl auch sanierte Apartments, die dann allerdings auch teurer sind.) Das Bad mit Wanne, da Eckapartement, hatte ein Fenster. Alles andere war schon etwas ekelig: die verkalkten, verseiften Fliesen, die vergilbte, vom Sand ganz rauhe Wanne, der schimmlige Duschvorhang, die kaputte Brause, etc. Die Küche hatte einen 2-Plattenherd, eine Mikrowelle, Kühlschrank. Die Schranktüren alle etwas schief, Küchenausstattung eher rudimentär. In der Wohnküche 2 Sofabetten, die mit ca. 1,90 m länge nicht für grössere Personen geeignet sind. TV mit einem deutschen Sender, W-Lan teilweise sehr holprig aber vorhanden. Zimmerreinigung vorhanden aber ausbaufähig. Das Personal an der Rezeption war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Um das Hotel gibt es alles, was man braucht. Der tolle Strand gleich auf der anderen Strassenseite. Eigentlich ein Touriort aber aufgrund von Corona alles sehr ruhig, was mir sehr gut gefiel. In den Geschäften wurde großen Wert auf die Einhaltung der AHA-Regeln gelegt. Ich fühlte mich sehr sicher. Von Montegordo kann man sehr gut und günstig mit dem Zug in die anderen Küstenorte (Tavira, Faro, etc) fahren. Fazit: Wer nicht viel Geld ausgeben und improvisieren kann, kann hier hin.
