Keenans Boutique Hotel

Over the last 35 years, I've probably averaged getting-on for a week in a hotel per month, (20 to 25% of my time spent working away). I've found hotels in Europe are generally 'much of a muchness' when your working in industrial towns and cities, but occasionally you get to stay in some places that just tick every box and Keenan's is one such place. It's not over the top, it's just right. There are not many hotels I've stayed in for work which make me want to go back on holiday, but Keenan's is definitely one of them. Well done.

Purports to be a 4 Star eatery + prices at: Steak sandwich (6oz) @ €18.95 & a Sirloin steak (10. Oz) @ €28.95 you'd expect some quality. So hungry & tired that I did not complain. You need a new chef.

Dropped in here on route back from Dublin for Sunday dinner, we were met by a lovely waiter who offered us bar or table locations for dining. We both had roast beef meals with the trimming. Excellent flavours, perfect portion sizes and a great view of the TV for watching the rugby. Perfect place to stop for re-fueling and breaking up a long trip.

Just had my second stay and I was very happy with everything. The room is lovely with small touches you would only expect to find in a much more expensive place. The beds are very comfortable. Food and service is very good. Good the see the next generation involved in running Keenans - it would be a big loss to lose the family feel

Our car broke down and had to be towed but Keenan's were able to give us a lovely room at very short notice. Great breakfast and friendly helpful staff. It's a fabulous location right on the river Shannon if you like angling. We'll be back.

The place is nice but the food was mediocre. At the prices we paid I would call it overpriced for content and quality . Service was slow. There is a big catchment as traffic goes through the village. It's such a pity their standards are low. Id prefer to go to petrol station, at least I know what to expect.

Had a very nice dinner here. The staff were very friendly and really looked after us. The food was very good however maybe a bit on the expensive side. The whole experience was very enjoyable. For a small town it's great to see such a great restaurant

Stay here if you enjoy a beautifully decorated small boutique hotel, with great food and very friendly and helpful hosts. The room was lovely, cosy, spotless and with a lovely little balcony overlooking the river. Lovely art pieces dotted throughout. We had a fantastic breakfast too, including a delicious home made granola that's made on site. Catered for vegan and vegetarian . It's a little gem of a place.

We had a family get together for a birthday. Opted for the set menu. Food was really only average. Goats cheese starter cold, on dead salad leaves very disappointing. Garlic mushrooms were bland. My cod main course was quite nice but generally main course portion sizes were small and the shared veg that came out was just terrible - one piece of broccoli, one piece of cauliflower and carrots amongst 5 people. No potatoes in the side of veg. Keenan’s used to be great for generous portions and delicious veg …. So disappointing. Desserts were a disaster…. After ordering, we were told 2 of the desserts were off the menu …. Surprising as our meal was early, at 6.30. Husband was given jelly and ice cream as a substitute. Sticky toffee pudding and Brownie tasted shop bought. Service only average. Not sure what has happened but hopefully Keenan’s can get back to the delicious food that they used to serve.
