I’ll be quite honest, our first impressions when we arrived (by Coach from Kobe) was that it was underwhelming, dull and uninspiring, nor as large as we had expected, and in a fairly unremarkable Residential area. Kyoto was afterall The Capital of Japan (where the Emperor lived from 794 until 1868) and it was spared the worst of the bombing during World War II, due to its History, grandeur and splendour. Inside was quite a different story – modern, airy, massive atrium dominated the centre with Rooms, on each of 4 sides. Rooms were quite large, twin-beds pushed together to form a Double-Bed. Clean well-appointed and equipped, and we slept very well. Breakfast was good, but in a rather small and quite crowded area, so the Buffet demanded a lot of maneuvering round each other and the staff, who could not keep up with refreshing items that had run-out. Central to the ground floor was a Lounge wherein they also served drinks and snacks. We (4/5) sat there once whilst waiting for our 40+ people Coach to arrive. “No Drink, No Food, No Seat” - we unceremoniously were ordered out. Not a good move – to alienate 40 Guests in one move. An impromptu boycott followed The Hotel is due West of the Imperial Palace, so great Location for that, but their Courtesy Bus was well-used for folks wanting to go into the City, or take Buses to visit Tourist attractions etc, or obviously one could take a Taxi. There really was almost nothing in its vicinity, by way of Supermarkets, Restaurants nor Bars. We ate elsewhere every night, but IN the City Centre proper – see above. They had Restaurants, but they were way too expensive for our tastes/Budgets, so we could not Comment/Review them. We returned to Kyoto (our favourite Japanese City) nearly 4 weeks later, but this time stayed in a different Hotel, right in the heart of the City, where we spent tens of thousands of Yen in one night in their Bar.

Just stayed 2 nights in a club twin and a club king room. First the positives - 1. The rooms - for a oldish hotel and a round one at that, the room was outstanding - it was spacious and i don't mean spacious by Japanese standards but really by any international one. The rooms looked pristine - i don't know if they did some renovations during covid but it did not look in the least worn. The bathtub was great and the room looked out to some nice greenery and trees. The sheets was really nicely made - taut and smooth just as it should be and the bed comfy. Adequate outlets. 2. The lounge is a nice respite with it's nice vantage looking out to a nice pond and garden. The staff were very friendly and explained about the macha tea. Dinner choice was reasonable with about 5 choices of food and plenty on alcohol to choose from. 3. Just opposite hotel is the conference centre (which is why i stayed at Prince) and the subway. 4. The area surrounding is green and peaceful and lush. One of my colleagues even saw a deer at night near the hotel. Now the not so good. 1. It's not near any shopping or restaurants (unless you count the cafe in the conference centre). There is a McDonalds about 8 minutes walk away (if you walk a bit briskly) and a Daiso about 15-20 minutes walk. Some other small restaurants within 10 minutes walk. 2. The hotel restaurants - they are not exactly family friendly in their fare. Set meals more for formal dining. Given the paucity of very nearby restaurants, the hotel could consider increasing the repertoire of simple kid friendly food. Strange how none of the restaurants offer this but some choices available from room service i.e. spaghetti. My daughter ended up with room service and me trekking to Mcdonalds to supplement her meal choice. I had trouble with Uber Eats or that's an option too. 2. Breakfast is a bit forgettable - i had the buffet one day - not quite befitting a Marriott Autograph hotel standard. I tried the western set another day - it was really quite nice but staff a bit inflexible. My daughter liked the bread so i asked for more only for the ultraman no sign to be invoked and the reply that they were out of stock (i guess that's their diplomatic way of saying you only get your one basket of bread and that's it. So I'm giving the hotel a 4/5. Nonetheless, there are enough positives to make me want to come back in future

This Ritz-Carlton location sitting on Kamogawa and Hagashiyama mountains, is one of the best locations to stay in Kyoto. The architecture is gorgeous on every level as you enter the hotel. You feel transported to a particular place that you will never forget. In addition, the quality of service the Ladies and Gentlemen provides goes above and beyond any other Ritz-Carlton location. Staying at the Kamogawa Executive Suite was an unforgettable experience. Approximately 1350 sq. ft., the suite provides luxury accommodations that exceed the highest expectations of any guest. The bathroom is gorgeous, especially the bathtub, where the wall and bathtub are decorated with sakura flowers. The bed is comfortable, and the living room is quite spacious. One thing I would have loved to see inside this room is a Genkan to place shoes as you enter the suite. Preserving the floor and rug is necessary and educates foreign guests about the importance of doing this. Another aspect that I loved about this place was Mizuki. Every morning I visited it for a Japanese-style breakfast, and it was a fantastic experience. In addition, I went to one of their sushi demonstrations and felt that I had a lifetime supply of sushi. Every bite was delicious, and the chef went above and beyond to make every guest feel special. Please make reservations for kaiseki, tempura, teppanyaki, and of course, sushi during your stay in advance. The spa is also a must if you are staying in this location. It is one of my most relaxing experiences, and the facilities are excellent. As you enter the spa, all the details regarding the walk to the counter or attendant, the changing room, and the pool area are planned quite well, so the guest can feel extra special and disconnected from reality. Finally, I must recognize the Ladies and Gentlemen's hard work and dedication at the Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto. Thank Ana and Naoto, for your friendly welcome to the hotel and making things possible during my stay. Chef Tomohiro Goda and his team provided an experience I will never forget at Mizuki. Naoki was friendly and helpful as I researched information. Pablo and Thain were attentive to my needs as I left the hotel and provided a great experience as I checked out. Special thanks to Carlos for leading such a fantastic Ritz-Carlton property in Japan and consideration prior to my stay. This is one of the top Ritz-Carlton properties I have stayed in, out of 25 Ritz-Carlton. I will cherish all the memories that I gained from this place and will make sure to come back in the future.

The Okura Okazaki Bettie is a beautifully designed modern hotel and was the perfect choice for our combined business/leisure visit to Kyoto. The location was reasonably close (short taxi ride) to excellent restaurants and sights in the culturally historic area east of the river. The guest room quality, cleanliness and comfort is excellent - finished to a high standard with large windows overlooking the garden below and temples beyond. Breakfast was served in the restaurant overlooking the hotel's own zen garden. The choice of either ”Kyoto”or ”American” breakfast was amazing, beautifully presented bento style, exceptionally fresh, plentiful and delicious. Indeed this was one of the best hotel breakfasts ever. Finally the service level is exceptional. Both management and staff did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable and hassle free. Neither the most nor least expensive option in Kyoto - just simple great value. We look forward to returning next time.

Das Hotel ist sehr zu empfehlen, das Frühstück ist sehr gut, und auch ältere Menschen mögen es sehr. Es wird dringend empfohlen, mit Frühstück zu buchen. Das Hotel hat zwar ein Zeitgefühl, ist aber gepflegt. Ich besuche nicht jedes Jahr viele Orte in Japan. Der Preis ist etwas höher, da es sich um einen kleinen Urlaub in Qingming handelt. Sie können mit dem Bus zum Qingshui-Tempel fahren. Die Rezeption des Hotels ist sehr einladend und das Zimmer hat ein eigenes separates Bad. Ich ging jedoch jeden Tag ins öffentliche Bad im ersten Stock, um im Pool zu baden. Am letzten Tag hatte ich Fieber, war im heißen Pool durchnässt und ging am nächsten Tag unter.

Die nächste Bushaltestelle ist ein paar Minuten entfernt und der Bus 12 fährt in einer halben Stunde direkt nach Gion, was sehr praktisch ist. 2. Der Preis ist wirklich zu günstig. Frühstück hatte ich nicht erwartet. Es gibt verschiedene Früchte, Brote, Joghurt, Kaffee und Instantsuppe, die ausreichend sind. 3. Das Hotel fühlt sich in Filmen und Animationen wie eine japanische Familie an. Der Innenhof gefällt mir besonders gut. Ich habe gehört, dass es eine hundertjährige Geschichte hat, also nicht so neu ist, aber es ist ruhig, sauber und warm. Obwohl es kein separates Badezimmer gibt, sind die zwei Badezimmer und zwei Toiletten im Erdgeschoss sehr praktisch. Wenn Sie einen japanischen Garten erleben möchten, ist das familiäre Gefühl des japanischen Dramas genau das Richtige. 4. Es sollte kein Parkplatz vorhanden sein. Das Zimmer, in dem ich wohne, ist sehr klein und kann kein Zustellbett hinzufügen, aber ich schlafe sehr bequem und fühle mich eng und beengt. Das Hotel ist voll von jungen Leuten unterwegs, es sind keine Kinder da, das sollte kein Problem sein. Alles andere finden Sie auf den Bildern und Gepäck kann aufbewahrt werden

Englischer und japanischer Service Die chinesische Kommunikation ist etwas schwierig, aber es gibt chinesische Tipps und der Service ist wirklich herzlich.

Am Einchecktag schickten sie mir eine Nachricht, dass sie eine Frage hatten und ich nicht in der Lage wäre, zu checken und woanders zu bleiben. Stellen Sie sich vor, ich komme aus einem fremden Land, der derzeit auf dem Shinkansen von Tokio bis Kyoto an diesem Punkt, das war 10 Uhr. Es war nichts, was ich tun konnte, ich versuchte ihnen zu sagen, dass sie die Buchung zu ehren und mich zu checken. Sie lehnten immer noch ab. Ich musste das Problem auf booking.com anheben, was meine Reservierung annulliert und versprach, das Hotel mir zurückzuzahlen. Gute Idee, was, sie haben nie getan! Nachdem sie einfach alle meine Botschaften ignorierten und mein Geld nie zurückgezahlt haben, für einen Aufenthalt, der nie passiert ist, weil ihre eigene Unrechtigkeit und Unverantwortlichkeit. Meine Ferien wurden durch den Stres, einen neuen Ort zu finden, um Mitternacht zu bleiben, ruiniert, und so versuchte mein nächster Monat, diese Erstattung zu jagen. Diese Menschen sollten ins Gefängnis gehen. P/S: Versuchen Sie nicht einmal, meine Bewertung zu entfernen. Ich habe es als Notiz, ich werde reagieren, bis ich sterbe. Es gibt zwei Einzelbetten so groß, mit separatem Bad. Das Zimmer ist sehr sauber. Eine Person reicht definitiv. Der Chef hat die Regel, morgens um 7 Uhr zu öffnen und abends um 10:30 Uhr zu schließen. Wenn Sie ein Nachtleben haben möchten, seien Sie vorsichtig. Es ist dem Ausgangspunkt der Philosophie der Philosophie sehr nahe.
