406 Lodge at Yellowstone

We stayed at the river lodge for our family of four. The place is a condo type unit with a separate bedroom with two queen. There is AC in the family room, but not in the bedroom. They have two fans for you to use- but open the window with a screen to get fresh air! The sound of the rushing water of the river outside is amazing! Loved the patio overlooking the river to sit and have a drink. Owners went above and beyond in helping us with restaurant choices in the area. Book this place!

We planned a trip to Yellowstone and wanted to split up our time between the entrances to optimize driving time in the park. We booked one with a river view. The property was perfect for the 2 of us. I'm not certain how old the place we stayed in was, but my husband kept saying I don't know how many people could have stayed here before us, it seemed that new and clean. The beds were very comfortable, with an extra blanket if needed which we did not. The kitchen had everything I needed to make breakfast and dinner for several days, coffee pot and coffee supplies were provided, all the pots/pans were great quality, and there was even a crockpot. Both dishes and paper plates were provided. The appliances were all in great working condition as well. The cabin on the river is more of a townhome type because it is 3 connected/separate 406 Lodge properties, but we never heard anything from the one beside us at all, it is very well-insulated and quiet. The area is a neighborhood at the end of a street and there appear to be multiple VRBO-type places around mixed in with residential housing, with Gardiner being in such close proximity to Yellowstone. I very much enjoyed all of the interactions we had with the owners of 406 Lodge, they were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely love to stay here again if we are back in the area. We loved that Gardiner didn't feel quite as touristy or overwhelming as West Yellowstone. The entrance to Yellowstone National Park, with the iconic Roosevelt Arch is right there in Gardiner, literally less than a 2-minute drive from the property. We walked to 2 of the places we ate out at, The Wonderland Cafe and Lodge (breakfast & coffee) which were amazing and The Cowboy Lodge and Grill (dinner) definitely try the cheese curds & the bison burger was very good. We did drive to the Antler Pub and Grill, one night after leaving the park because it was raining, but it is also very close and could be walked to. The meatloaf sandwich was amazing and very flavorful there.

I would definitely recommend the 2-bedroom condo-type units on the side of the Yellowstone river in Gardiner. They come with kitchenettes. The rooms are spacious, nicely done, and comfortable. The view from the small balcony of the river is nice. The living room has AC but the bedrooms don't. After sundown you don't need AC bc you can open the window as the outside temp drops pretty quickly, but before sundown you do. The one AC unit sufficed for our needs. Room for improvement: - I find it unacceptable for hotels to threaten you with a fine for not cleaning your own dishes. I am on vacation and paying you for lodging. I am not the cleaner. It's BS and it's making the owners problems into the customers problems. - the website is pretty bad. made understanding what you are seeing /getting more difficult. I took a chance on them. - Price was higher than one-bedrooms that sleep 5, but not exorbitantly so.

The room was very spacious and very clean. We would stay here again. I loved the fresh knotty pine ceiling and the bathroom appeared to be recently updated. No need to call for extra towels since they provided them under the sink in the bathroom. Our request for extra pillows was promptly met. Excellent stay.
