Just a quaint roadside inn. The decor is old-fashioned, but you can tell they work hard to keep it clean, which is what I really care about. It could use better wifi, but the mountains tend to be a tough area for any kind of signal. The lady at the front desk said the new owner will be making some improvements, so I hope wifi is next. But, for now, it's really just a place to sleep so we can enjoy the area. Good value for price.

The management was great. Couldn't have been nicer. The location was very close to the Breaks Interstate State Park, which is why we went there. I accidentally left my computer charger, and they were happy to send it to me and wouldn't take any money.

This motel is really bad Rooms are musky smell Pillows are flat Can hear rats in wall At night Squeaking Just a bad experience Bridge in back of motel Very unsafe Going across creek Wiring is bad Rangers should be notified and Health department Along with fire Marshal

The Gateway Motel in the corner of Far Southwest Virginia was a gem in the coalfields. The staff was professional and welcoming and always available and helpful. A short drive to Breaks Interstate Park provided excellent food (weekends only) and memorable views at the Gorge overlooks.

Attractive room. A few deficiencies on arrival were quickly addressed. Very upset to find that there was zero food service in the area. We found a pizza place for dinner but we’re reduced to a gas station for breakfast. The motel could not even provide fresh cream for morning coffee.
