This weekend we had lunch with a large group of friends at the New Old Inn. On being sat for the meal no one asked us if we wanted drinks - not then or at any time during our meal. Water was provided. During the meal we weren't asked, as is customary, if everything was OK with our food or if there was anything else we needed. Most odd. In fact, those waiting on us, especially the 2 gentlemen, seemed unhappy to be there and were, when passing behind diners chairs or reaching across the table, quite unmannerly and also particularly noisy, banging crockery on the table at the rear of the dining room. Onto the meal - 2 pieces of bread cut in half (for 4 people) on a plate but no side plates and no butter knives so we used our starter knives and ate bread from the tablecloth. The prawn cocktail starter was ordinary but passable. I was really looking forward to the main course - the menu read, 'Gloucester Old Spot Pork, Crispy Crackling, Bramley Apple Puree, served with Roast Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables' - sounds good! In reality I had 2 slices of pork, both with generous layers of fat and wet, floppy skin. Not the crispy crackling advertised. I politely asked the waitress if she could bring some crackling. She returned to tell me that they didn't have any crackling and that the pork was all gone. Apple sauce came but no serving spoon so we used our main course knives. The roasties (plural) consisted of 2 small potatoes. Descriptively correct, though a little mean, but overshadowed by the 'seasonal vegetables' which consisted of a slice of carrot and one broccoli spear. Again, not a lie as it was more than one vegetable, but they couldn't have economised more, except by serving individual peas! I know portion sizes have shrunk in our current economy but this is taking it to a new level. The desert was apple crumble which would have felt at home in any school canteen. And the price of this gourmet fayre? £56 for 2 people. Please find an alternative if you are contemplating booking, especially if it's for an occasion. We couldn't recommend this hotel and will never return, which is a shame as we regularly visit family living just 20 minutes away and are always looking for great eateries, We won't forget it, though, so we've put it in the 'making memories' pile.

Very clean and spacious room overlooking the High Street. Quiet room. Generous sized bathroom. Rooms serviced daily if you put the tag on the door when you go out. Wall radiator heating was on and off at irregular times - a bit frustrating in the winter weather. Good breakfast delivered to the rooms if you tick your choices on the tag and time you prefer it to be delivered and place it outside your door the night before. There was a gentleman who we met when we were letting ourselves into the front door. He was very helpful and advised us about ordering breakfast and room cleaning daily service, using the tags. He cleaned and serviced the rooms. Bottled water and milk , tea and coffee supplied . Very conveniently situated guesthouse with easy access to local restaurants and pubs in the high street. The access to the rooms was via carpeted stair case. Parking was at a public parking area very close by that you pay for by card on site.

Bourton-on-the-water , Hatte einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt 5-8th Januar 2024 für meine Partner 41. Geburtstagsfeier. Unterkünfte waren komfortabel, gemütlich, sehr gut gelegen & einschliesslich ein wunderbares Frühstück, heiß und sehr schmackhaft. Isabella, der Gastgebervertreter war brillant, sehr hilfreich, gut gepflegt, polit und extrem hilfsbereit, ( P.S hoffen Sie genossen Ihre Magnum :-) Erwarten Sie nicht das Savoy-Status bei der Zahlung der Reiseodge Preise, Gebäude ist alt und wunderschön, wonky Türen, Wände, Böden, etc, aber hat viel Charakter, schöne Räume und ist sehr sauber, gemütlich und gut serviert. War eine große Basis für die Erforschung aller Cotswolds muss bieten, würde defo wieder bleiben. Einige Dinge zu beachten, in besetzten Sommermonaten Bourton ist absolut getroffen, übermäßig besetzt, vorsichtig! Ab Ende der ersten Woche des Januars schließen die meisten Unternehmen für den Urlaub 2-3 Wochen, als offene Mehrheit der Weihnachtszeit 🎄, Für Lebensmitteleinkauf und Lieferungen gibt es eine große Ko-op ca. 5 Minuten zu Fuß von Chestnuts verwenden Sie die Wege seine schnellste Route. ☆☆☆☆☆

Amazing welcome at this guest house, visited for my mum's 80th and I stayed in the single room whilst my mum and niece stayed in the twin room. Couldn't fault the rooms which were tastefully decorated. Comfy beds and excellent service from the staff. Even arranged booking a table for our evening meal. On-site parking and only short distance walk into the village (which was picture perfect!) Breakfast was stunning and willing to adapt choices if asked. Will definitely be returning

Mein Mann und ich sind gerade von einem zwei-Nacht-Unterkunft im Lamb Inn, Great Rissington zurückgekehrt. Wir wurden für einen Sonntags Mittagessen vor der Eincheckung in unser Zimmer gebucht. Der Sonntagsrot war lecker und reichlich, das Team war freundlich, hilfsbereit und aufmerksam. Die ”Rissington Suite” war ein fantastisches Zimmer zu bleiben. Wir liebt es, eine gemütliche Lounge-Area, vor allem, weil das Wetter schrecklich war (genießenswert von Sturm Eunice !!) Es war unstümlich sauber, warm und die Einrichtungen waren ausgezeichnet. Das Frühstück am beiden Morgen war frisch gekocht und auch lecker. Großes Rissington Dorf, wie die meisten der Cotswolds ist sehr schön. Wir würden sicher hier bleiben, wenn wir wieder zu The Cotswolds kommen.
