The Charles Bathurst Inn

The CB Inn is brilliantly situated for exploring the Yorkshire Dales and the fact that it is a marvellous place to stay just 'seals the deal'! It's not our first stay but I think it's the best so far. The rooms we had (we were a party of 2 couples) were superb, comfy, warm (still a nip in the air in April) with plenty of hot water and big towels! The food was superb. The breakfast menu was extensive with locally sourced ingredients. The dinners were even better with a wide range of meals to suit all palettes. The chef is talented and the service was good, no mistakes and prompt - what's not to like? It is also important to say that all the team were incredibly friendly and when your chambermaid smiles and wishes you good morning, it starts the day well. We had a wonderful time and are looking forward to returning in the summer.

Our room (11) was large and comfortable with fantastic views on two sides, bed was huge and designed for a wonderful nights sleep. Everything provided you could want. Fresh milk in the fridge in the corridor , great to see them reducing plastic use! Lovely evening meal, huge starters but did manage to squeeze amazing main courses in as well! Breakfast kippers not to be missed!

Booked a table for an evening meal and turned up en route in our camper with the view to move to a park up spot afterwards, however once welcomed into the friendly and banterous atmosphere with the 3 members of staff, (only caught Andy’s name, but also a friendly Italian lad and a friendly lass who was working her final shift) , we asked if we could utilise the car park for our camper, they allow a maximum of 2 at a time so we were able to relax and enjoy the evening more. The drinks were good and the food was exceptional! I would highly recommend anyone wanting to eat or just enjoy a few drinks!

The perfect pub for an evening meal. We booked a table in the CB. The booking process was simple online and even when I wanted to change the time I gave the club a call and the staff were really friendly and made the changes quickly and efficiently. On the evening of the reservation we arrived 30 mins early but this wasn’t a problem. We were shown to our table after ordering drinks and provided with some menus to look at before the kitchen opened. The menu was varied and all sounded lovely. We shared a starter and then had the steak ale and mushroom pie. The pie was the best I’ve had in a long time with lovely fresh veg and mash. I cannot fault the food it was fabulous. When we went to pay our bill it was refreshing to find that a service charge hadn’t been added like so many places do and for that reason we were happy to tip the staff because we wanted to not because we were forced. We really did have an amazing meal at this Inn and we can’t wait to return. Thank you to everyone who works here you are doing a great job.

Excellent visit for Sunday eve meal. Food was outstanding in taste and quality. Without doubt, the best pub meal I have had in a while. The 3 roast dinner was delicious and decent value. Service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended

Together with friends we had a Sunday lunch, which was delicious. A good choice of foods were offered including a vegetarian option. And as an added bonus, as we all of a certain age and cannot eat the usual large portions, we opted for the half price smaller portions on offer. I found the quantity to be exactly right with an excellent selection of fresh vegetables . Altogether a lovely lunch out on a lovely day.

Went on a walking weekend for a birthday treat. The staff were very welcoming The room was spacious, and what a walker always wants when they're tired and wet....a bath! Dinner was lovely and breakfast was really good. Dog friendly, too! Was the perfect way to spend a very wet weekend.

We have been a few times to the Charles Bathurst Inn and every single time the service is friendly, professional and welcoming. The food has always been really good - and the soup of the day today was the best we've ever tasted Mushroom and Tarragon, delicious. The food is always presented beautifully. You order a baguette and you will get a salad, mixed crisps of beetroot, vegetable and potato etc and a small cup of soup with it. A roaring fire to welcome you in. Set in countryside that is asking to be walked in. What more could you want?!

Having stayed here a few times and eaten here on many occasions, we decided to treat our friend, a local of Reeth to an evening meal. The food was lovely but oh my goodness the barmaid. To say she was disinterested in the customers is putting it very mildly. She could not clear tables quickly enough, without asking if we had finished and our friend had to ask for his water glass back as he hadn't finished. Downright rude and should not be allowed anywhere near customers as her customer service skills are non existent. Such a shame that the CB, so good for so many years, is obviously on the way out if the service is anything to go by.
