I found what looked like an engorged tick or bedbug crawling up my bed. The hotel is pretty and I booked it for 1 night as a luxury treat so I could get a good rest for my layover stop to another destination. My room smelt like stale smoke unfortunately, though I had asked for non-smoking. I paid extra on my booking for breakfast and had to wake up at 6am, eat breakfast at 6.30am and go to the airport at 7.20am. My room had a bathtub so I took a bath before bedtime and went to bed at midnight, I got up to go switch the lamp off at 1am and found this bug crawling up the side of my bed going towards me. I think it's either a tick or a bed bug, the body was full of blood. It had 6 or 8 legs, difficult to see but I took a video which doesn't allow me to upload. I don't have any problems with normal bugs such as spiders, but if it is a tick or bedbug it is a big problem. I was really worried there were more hiding inside the bed, I called reception for help and they looked at the bug which I caught in a glass cup. They apologised deeply and changed my room, so I had to move at 1.30am. I explained I was already tired and have to wake up early. In the new room I was unable to sleep as I kept worrying about bed bugs. I got up multiple times to check my bed. And there was a noisy couple next door talking loudly until very late so I couldn't sleep. For a luxury hotel you should not need to loose a whole night's sleep because you are worried about bedbugs or ticks biting you. Nor should be able to hear noise from other guests through the wall. I was extremely exhausted the next day and did not have any appetite. I asked if they could refund the extra I paid for breakfast because I couldn't eat it, but they said it wasn't possible. So I forced myself to try eat 1 egg and some small rice porridge but couldn't finish it. Really expensive to pay for breakfast and hardly eat, it's a shame they couldn't refund the breakfast considering I had no sleep. For a 5* hotel, I would like to have good rest and peaceful sleep. But it was not like that. The staff were very kind and helpful, but it's not so easy to travel here alone. It was not easy to book a taxi for the following morning to the airport and it took 40 minutes of assistance, the man was very kind and helpful, but the hotel should make an easier system for foreign guests to book taxi. When I first arrived in Jinan airport, I had no idea how to get to the hotel. There is no ATM inside the hotel so you cannot withdraw cash, and you cannot pay with foreign card to book a taxi. The shangri-la website did not provide any details for public transport. It simply said bus transfer was available but did not say which number bus. I would give the details here but I have forgotten the route name and bus number now as it was hectic and I was very tired, sorry. I had to waste a lot of time trying to ask for help at the airport as the staff did not speak English. Luckily someone helped me. The bus will cost 20yuan and take you into the centre where you will see the intercontinental hotel and a large shopping mall on the left side of the bus, get off at that stop, it takes 1 hour. From there it's only 5 minutes walk to shangri-la. For a big hotel they should provide easy instructions on the website to guests. The staff apologised deeply for the bug on the bed, and offered 10% reduction of the room rate. Although when I checked out no refund was given and they didn't mention anything about it, I think they just charged full price. Personally I think 10% is not enough anyway. Nobody wants to change rooms at 1.30am because of bugs crawling on the bed. I didn't get any sleep at all and felt itchy because I kept thinking about bugs and couldn't eat the breakfast. I was absolutely exhausted the following day so I was unable to do anything at my next destination and had to waste 1 day more to rest. Unfortunately not an easy experience at the shangri-la.

Zuerst kümmerte sich Nicky um mich bei der Eincheckung und gab mir ein besonderes Geschenk und Erfahrung. Und Nicky ist wunderschön. Kimi war auch ein großes Mitarbeiter für mich während der Abreise. 교환학생으로 산동대에 온 딸아이를 만나러 왔습니다. 학교 정문 바로 앞이라 선택하긴 했는데... 5성급이라기엔 고객응대서비스가 조금 부족합니다. 직원들의 고객응대교육이 필요한 것 같습니다. 객실은 넓고 편안했지만 화장실과 에어컨 그 외 가구나 카펫에서 호텔의 연식이 느껴졌습니다. 조식도 무언가 부족한 느낌인데 레스토랑의 중년여성 직원의 서비스는 훌륭했습니다.

The bed was comfortable, and the room was well-maintained, with clean linens, a tidy bathroom, and adequate amenities. The layout felt functional rather than overly luxurious, but it delivered exactly what one would expect from an airport hotel in this category. Sound insulation was reasonably effective; despite the airport location, noise levels were minimal and did not disrupt rest. Service throughout the stay was professional and efficient, with a level of attentiveness that stood out in the smaller details. In particular, the duty manager, Ali, made a strong impression through his proactive hospitality. As a welcome gesture, he personally brought a selection of local Shandong and Qingdao soft drinks to my room, which was a thoughtful and culturally considerate touch. This small act added a personal dimension to the stay and reflected a genuine commitment to guest experience beyond standard service expectations. Facilities appeared comprehensive, though my stay was brief and primarily focused on rest rather than exploring all offerings. The lobby and common areas were well presented, creating a calm and organised first impression. Dining options were convenient, and while not exceptional, they were satisfactory in quality and variety for a short stay. In terms of value, the hotel performs strongly. It delivers reliability, cleanliness, and comfort without unnecessary extravagance. For travelers prioritising practicality, convenience, and a good night’s sleep before or after a flight, it is a solid choice. Unvergessliche Tage in Qingdao – Exzellenter Service und fantastische Extras! Wir hatten zwei wundervolle Tage im Shangri-La Qingdao und sind absolut begeistert. Ein besonderes Dankeschön gilt den hervorragend geschulten Mitarbeitern, die unseren Aufenthalt zur vollen Zufriedenheit gemacht haben. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir unser Upgrade, das einfach fantastisch war: Kulinarik: Ein unbeschreiblich gutes Frühstück für zwei Personen, das keine Wünsche offen ließ. Exklusivität: Wir genossen den Zugang zur Lounge sowie einen wunderbaren Afternoon Tea. Wellness: Der Zugang zur Sauna war perfekt zum Entspannen. Ein ganz besonderes Lob verdient das Amenity Center, insbesondere Miya. Nachdem wir ein Buch im Hotel vergessen hatten, war die Kommunikation per E-Mail (********************************) und die Organisation des Nachnahme-Versands (SF Express) absolut professionell und hilfsbereit. Wer Wert auf erstklassigen Service und eine herzliche Atmosphäre legt, ist hier genau richtig. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!

Die Umgebung des Hotels neben dem Yachtclub ist sehr gut. Von jedem Zimmer aus kann man das Meer sehen, allerdings aus unterschiedlichen Blickwinkeln. Es ist sehr angenehm, morgens und abends am Strand spazieren zu gehen und eignet sich für ein paar Tage Freizeiturlaub. Ich war vor sechs Jahren dort, obwohl die Ausstattung etwas in die Jahre gekommen ist. Allerdings ist der Stoff der Stühle im Restaurant offensichtlich fleckig. Dem Garten wurden Kindereinrichtungen und ein kleiner Zoo hinzugefügt, deren Standort jedoch unangemessen ist und den europäischen Stil des gesamten Parks zerstört. Die Qualität des Frühstücks und des Abendbuffets ist nicht optimal, aber die Umgebung und der Geschmack des japanischen Essens und des chinesischen Restaurants sind in Ordnung.

The hotel is extremely luxurious and designed beautifully. But the service is TERRİBLE. No one speaks english… there is no food available for room service. İ wanted to drink a beer and they told me to go to the supermarket. İ wanted to order room service after 20.30 they told me no english and hung up on my face. After 10 mins 2 people came to my room telling me they dont have room service, after 20.30 even though the menu said 24 hours. The next day i tried to order at 16.00 and they told me it starts at 18.30… the design and the quality of the hotel is maybe the best ive seen in my life but the service is 0/10 … no cola to drink no food to eat .. i would not reccomend if you want to spend a lot of time in it.

Das Begrüßungsgetränk in anderen Hotels ist Fruchtsaft. Sie geben Tsingtao-Bier direkt an Erwachsene. Kinder haben Saft, Luftballons und Seifenblasenpistolen. Die Hygiene ist gut, das Badezimmer ist mit Einweg-Gesichtstüchern aus Baumwolle ausgestattet und auch das Toilettenpapier ist das gleiche. Es ist kinderfreundlich, der Service stimmt, in der Lobby gibt es Freibier und die Eltern sind super zufrieden. Das Hotel liegt sehr nah am Strand. Ich werde das nächste Mal wiederkommen und es bereits meinen Freunden geschenkt haben.

Ich war zum ersten Mal im Hyatt Regency Shangang und war insgesamt sehr zufrieden. Die Hotellobby ist sehr großzügig, und der Strand befindet sich im Erdgeschoss, sodass Kinder bequem im Sand und im Wasser spielen können. Das Frühstücksbuffet war ebenfalls sehr günstig. Die gebratenen Brötchen, Wan Tans und Teigtaschen waren alle köstlich. Auch das Obst war sehr frisch. Der Porridge war allerdings etwas zu wässrig. Die Rezeptionistin, Frau Wei, war sehr hilfsbereit und beantwortete alle meine Fragen schnell. Ich werde bei meinem nächsten Qingdao-Besuch wieder hier übernachten.
