We were greeted with warm hospitality by the owner Angela when we arrived to check into Franz Josef Oasis. The executive king suite room was clean, cosy and spacious. We enjoyed sitting on the sofas with warm blankets place for our comfort near the fireplace. The location of this place is also good as it 5 minutes drive to the town where we had a delicious dinner at Blue Ice Restaurant and Bar which was recommended to us by Angela. The service is excellent and I will definitely recommend this place to those who are travelling to Franz Josef !

Just up the road from Fox Glacier settlement, conveniently placed on the road to Lake Matheson. It’s not 5* accommodation but it was clean and tidy, with friendly staff

Glad to be able to pay a small amount and be upgraded to a room with facilities that we need. Love the heated bed. Spacious room. Loved their house dog who came to bid us farewell just before we leave.  If you go to the Heartland Hotel to dine, you get 10% discount by showing your room keys.

Das Hotel ist groß in der Nähe von Fußgängern zum Bahnhof für Tranzalpine, Restaurant im Hotel bietet atemberaubendes Essen und Trinken, das Zimmer ist leicht grundlegende ohne Klimaanlage, aber es hat einen Fan und einen Heizungsschrank

Wirklich sehr gute und saubere Untelunft, die Sauna ist auf jeden Fall ein Bonus, allerdings auch recht teuer für ein Hostel, dazu kostet alles extra, hab noch nie so viel für Waschmaschine und Waschmittel (extra) gezahlt

Die Rezeption ist chinesisch, es gibt eine kostenpflichtige Waschküche, die Umgebung ist sehr gut, es liegt in einer Kleinstadt, es gibt eine Rasenfläche vor der Zimmertür und es gibt zwei Hocker, auf denen man sitzen und den Sonnenuntergang genießen kann Kümmere dich selbst um alles, die Bettdecke und die Kissen riechen, die Tankstelle ist im kleinen Ort, ein Restaurant + Bar gibt es 10 Gehminuten entfernt

It is alright, but not great - certainly it is worn around the edges. It is the first place I stayed in during my 3 week holiday with no fridge... So much for the by now warm riggers of beer I bought at breweries en route. The service was never with any kind of smile. The food in their restaurant was adequate and the beer was, to my taste, bland and unexciting. Staying here is not a disaster, but nor is it memorable. For the amount they must make (the room was not inexpensive) they could and should do better. But I guess it is a captive market in season, and ”just about good enough” is all they need to bother with.

The male receptionist who greeted us was not particularly friendly; and only when we got to our first floor room did we read about a luggage service. The room was tastefully furnished and clean, and other staff we interacted with were friendly. However the biggest issue is that the walls between rooms are are paper thin so we could hear people next door and doors banging. This woke us up early on both nights we stayed. If you stay - bring ear plugs. There was a lounge with a bar - the bar was permanently closed so there was no where to get a hot or cold drink unless you went to a cafe down the road.

Das Hotel ist sehr alt. Es gab einen verrückten Staub auf den Wänden aufzubauen und das Teppich war nur schrecklich. Der Service war gut und wir schätzten das Münzwischenzimmer. Aber wir werden nicht wieder dort bleiben.

Großes Hotel, wunderschönes Personal, erstaunliche Meerblicke (wenn Sie ein Meerblick reservieren), schönes Restaurant, kostenlose Parkplätze, komfortable Betten, schöne Duschen - perfekt für eine Nacht oder mehr in Hokitika!
