Starting with the information - we stayed at So City as a young couple (who arent particularly into nightclubs/bars) to see Matla for the first time over a week. I have given this a 'benefit-of-the-doubt' rating due to the hotel being incredibly new. We picked So City Hotel because of the value, it was incredibly well priced. I'd imagine this is a strategy due to it being so new but it was certainly well worth the price we paid. On to the hotel as a whole - I feel this is definitely aimed toward capturing people coming to Malta for some night life. Its positioned so that no more than 10 seconds from leaving the lobby, you can be in a bar, and their are some nice bars surrounding. That said, we werent there for that - but this location also meant that finding an evening meal, or a quick early night drink was incredibly easy. Exploring the island was also very easy from here, Valletta was a very short journey, and as we had opted to rent a car, there was a carpark about 5 minutes walk away (Pengardens) which is reasonably priced for over night parking, and we never struggled for a space. The room was very comfortable, and the mattress was perfect and bedding very soft and comfortable. Our upgraded room was also incredibly spacious. The theming is a nice touch and makes the room a bit more characterful and individual. Staying on the 7th floor, there was minimal noise at night, altough id be concerned if we needed to keep the window open.... The black out curtains were also amazing for keep the room dark for a little bit of extra sleep. Constructive criticism for the room would be: The shower tempurture is difficult - the hottest setting is insanely hot (my other half loves hot showers but this was too much for her also) and it wouldnt go cold, just cooler, it also seemed to get colder through out the shower and you found yourself adjusting. There is not a lot of storage at all for longer stays. This is perhaps a by product of it feeling aimed towards 'nightlifers' who might stop 3 nights or so. I would perhaps ask reception for additional hangers if you have plenty of clothes for a longer stay. The mini fridge, altough useful, is not big enough to put larger water bottles in, which can be annoying. The aircon unit is situated in a place which means it blows directly at the bed. I tried to play with the control but there was no way to adjust it that I could find. Im trying to cool the room, not refridgerate myself. The timer on the aircon also didnt seem to work, so setting it the blow for 30 mins whilst i went to sleep just didnt seem to work. The TV is not a full smartTV which is a shame. Just channels and an internet browser, which are never nice to navigate around.... On to other notes: Breakfast is just what you need. Its not an all out buffett where there is everything you could dream of, but there is more than enough and a few items cycle so you can expect a slightly different breakfast each morning. Das Hotel hat eine sehr gute Lage. Der Betrieb ist allerdings sehr unprofessionell für ein 5 Sterne Hotel, das von sich behauptet alle Promis und Politiker der Welt empfangen zu haben. Das Personal ist nicht professionell, besteht fast nur aus ungelernten Hilfskräften. Z.b.kein Empfang an der Tür, Service am Frühstück ungelernt, Essen wird mit bloßen Fingern angefasst. Am ungepflegtes ist der Pool und Strandbeteich. Obwohl wir bereits mehrfach darauf hingewiesen haben wurde der Schmutz und Abfall der überall am Strand, beim Pool, bei den Duschen und auf den Toiletten liegt seit 5 Tagen nicht entfernt. Hier fühlt sich keiner für irgendwas verantwortlich. Die Liegen wurden noch nie gereinigt, sind völlig verstaubt und durchgelegen Der Strandabschnitt ist schmutzig wie ein öffentlicher Strand.Überall liegen Zigarettenstummel, Plastikbecher, etc herum. Das beste in diesem Hotel ist der überaus freundliche, kompetente und hilfsbereite Concierge Hearhcliff. Einzig und alleine er verdient eine 5 Sterne Bewertung. Dank ihm ist unser Aufenthalt deutlich angenehmer geworden. Einzig er ist in der Lage diesem Hotel einen Hauch von Luxus zu verleihen. Thank you very much dear Heathcliff. Hotel in einer schönen Gegend, in der Nähe von Bars und Restaurants Sehr freundliches Personal, besonders dafür, wie einfach sie es uns gemacht haben, zu erklären, wie man sich fortbewegt Ganz in der Nähe der Bushaltestellen, die Sie nach Valletta bringen Eine 10!!!!

Tatsächlich kann ich mich allen positiven Bewertungen über die Zimmer, den Service, die Lage und das Frühstück nur anschließen. Aktuell kann ich sagen, dass der Schutz gegen Covid 19 sehr gut und unaufdringlich umgesetzt wurde. Das Frühstück wurde am Buffet nach vorheriger Händedesinfektion ausgegeben und obwohl das Hotel voll belegt war entstand weder Stau noch Gedränge. Trotz all dieser Maßnahmen ist es dem Personal gelungen sich herzlich um seine Gäste zu kümmern und keine persönliche Distanz entstehen zu lassen. Es ist richtig, dass die meisten Fenster der Zimmer „nur“ auf den Innenhof des Palazzos gehen. Man muss sich aber klarmachen, dass dies die Bauweise eines südlichen Palazzos ist, für die es auch gute Gründe gibt.Und wenn ich eine authentische Unterkunft möchte, gehören Fenster zum Innenhof eben dazu. Für uns war dies einfach nur ein weiteres Stück Echtheit. Uns hat es auf jeden Fall ausnehmend gut gefallen.

Was given a TV with a damaged screen. 3 of the 8 nights we stayed there, we were forced to take cold showers because there was no hot water. Bed sheets and towels not fully clean, even had towels arrive late in the day with holes in them. You are unable to change the temperature of your room as the air conditioning controls are locked. The temperature of your room is dictated by hotel staff and you are unable to change it. Room flooded one night due to shower not properly draining. No proper bathroom, just a see-through curtain to cover the shower. Excessive noise from outside every night, rooms were not built to be sound proofed making it very difficult to sleep. Was also given rolls of toilet paper covered in mould for the last 2 nights. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody. It is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

Rezeption: überaus höflich, viel zu gestelzt, nicht authentisch, irgendwie kalt. Infos wurden falsch gegeben, anstatt zu sagen das wisse man nicht. Zimmer: Wunsch wurde nicht berücksichtigt, trotz zweithöchster Kategorie. Keine Liegestühle auf Balkon, wie gebucht. Minibar nicht aufgefüllt (in Buchung enthalten!), Diskussion um Kaffeekapsel und Softdrinks täglich. Zi.Reinigung: grad ok, unachtsam. . Frühstücksbuffet Auswahl ok, aber max. 4 Sterne, was die Qualität der Speisen angeht. Service dort sehr schön, freundlich und aufmerksam! SPA: Massagetermine waren auf Anfrage per Email zugesagt worden, ebenso ein kostenfreies Plus. Danach kam die Terminbestätigung per Kalender - alle Termine verändert, und das Plus einfach weg. Wurde auch auf Anfrage nicht mehr verbessert. Schwach, für angebliche 5 Sterne (Wir hatten ursprünglich einige Behandlungen dort gebucht, nach diesem unachtsamen Umgang nicht mehr). Schade. Treatment, war sehr gut, aber nicht was gebucht. Ernüchternd: Danach plumpe Verkaufsshow des Mitarbeiters (Verkaufsdruck war deutlich zu spüren), ”vertrauliches” Antatschen. Das mässigt das eigentlich tolle Entspannungsergebnis sehr. Das gesamte Ambiente entspricht nicht 5 Sternen. Wir reisen sehr viel, haben Vergleichsmöglichkeiten. Auffallend: es halten sich viele Gäste z.B. im Frühstücksraum auf, die in Shorts und Badeschlappen oder mit Leggings frühstücken. Da will einfach kein 5- Sterne- Gefühl aufkommen. Das allein zeigt schon, dass der Standard nicht mehr da ist.

TBH es ist ein ziemlich ok Hotel Sehr gute Lage Bang im Zentrum von St Julians Bay Hatte ein Dreibettzimmer und war ziemlich großer Schreckliche Aussicht aus dem Hotel so kann auf den Meerblick aktualisiert werden .. Nur eine Nacht so getan der Job für uns.. Nicht schlecht einen Preis auch
