Mayplace Hotel

Wenn es auf der Welt ein 4-Sterne-Markenhotel ohne Parkplatz gibt, dann ist es das Mayplace Seoul Dongdaemun!!! (Der Ort in Hyehwa ist genau hier!!) Die Blutflecken auf den Vorhängen im Zimmer sind Dekoration! Nach dem Duschen steht das Wasser für das Fußbad auf dem Boden des Zimmers!! Selbst wenn du mir Geld gibst, ich werde nicht hierher gehen. Normalerweise schreibe ich keine Bewertungen, aber dies ist ein Ort, an dem Geschäftsinhaber aufwachen müssen.

We enjoyed our room the most and felt that we had a good night's rest here. This is a semi budget friendly hotel that is close to the palace/park areas of Seoul. The room was clean and well appointed with two comfy beds, two good pillows per bed, a chair, cabinets and drawers to store stuff, a big tv, robes and sandals. The bathroom was nice too with good shower pressure and one of those shower valves where you can pick the temperature you want. The toilet flushed quietly and there was plenty of shower space. There are frosted windows in the bathroom which help let in natural day light but if your partner uses it at night you will see the lights come on. The location was decent but the metro was further than expected. When we booked trip.com showed us that it was 330m from Dongmyo Station but it was actually closest to jongno 5 entrance 2 which was a 10 minute walk away from the hotel. The palace and Hanbok areas are very close to the hotel and there are frequent busses in the area to take you to the major attractions and areas. Nearby the hotel there are many convenience stores but there are limited restaurant options outside of coffee shops. The breakfast at the hotel was ok. We found there was a good variety but if you went too early (7:30 am) nothing was out yet and if you went later (8:30) everything was limited. The hot items were not as hot as we liked them to be despite the heaters so it might be worth getting early and getting your food when it comes out so it is nice and hot. There were scrambled eggs, fried eggs, marbled cheese the one day, stuff to make salad, an onion soup, mushroom soup, fried rice, a hot vegetable (one day it was potato and the next it was mushrooms), hot dogs, cut up fruit, bread/toaster, cut up muffins, orange juice, coffee and tea. There was enough to get by and there are pricey a la carte options. The restaurant was a little drafty when we went but it was just enough to get us started each day. The staff at the hotel were friendly and allowed us to store our baggage when we arrived early so we could go out and explore the city. When we actually checked in it was smooth and quick. The elevators are a little tricky at the hotel and you have to pay attention to which elevator is closest to you and press that button. There are two elevators but there are two separate buttons to call them so it is worthwhile looking where the elevators are and choosing accordingly. The hotel also has a coin laundry facility and a meeting area. The lobby is also nicely appointed with furniture and a small drinks shop but being there in December we wouldn't want to hang out there long.

It was very very clean, the people in the counter are super nice and speak good English! The location is excellent with very easy access to both Dongdaemun and the palaces. The only aspect could maybe be that breakfast doesn’t offer enough fruit. But otherwise it’s very nice and would definitely stay here again :)

Breakfast is good with lots of variety Room is comfortable and clean Rooms on the second floor suffer from road traffic while on the 8 floor you not suffer. Second floor toilets are simple while on the 8 10 and 13 floor are Korean style. Front desk English spoken are medium

I stayed here for 4 nights as a solo traveller. Pros: - Great sunset view from the window on level 10 - Not too far from palaces, dongdaemun, insadong, more convenient to take buses instead of subway (station is a bit far) - Housekeeping is great, bottled water everyday - Affordable laundry @basement level - Gym which i didn’t use - Water dispenser if the bottled water are not enough for you - Staff are very helpful to show me the way to take airport shuttle - Good size dresser/study table - Bed and pillows were comfortable Cons: - there was a sound coming from the walls or pipes making it hard to sleep, which i got used to after 2nd night - No drop off area for cars at the lobby, could be inconvenient for some people

I was extremely disappointed by my experience. For one, the wifi was extremely spotty and honestly just straight up didn't work, meaning I couldn't get any work done. When I tried to call the front desk to ask for help, the landline/phone in the room wouldn't even work! I'd understand if the front desk was busy and therefore could not pick up my call specifically, but no, the phone was literally broken. I had to use my phone to call the front desk. And when I did, the front desk gave a half-hearted response about how they weren't sure what to do and were extremely passive/unwilling to help until I had to explicitly ask them to send someone to check what was wrong in my room. Never in my life have I had to insist on receiving customer service at a hotel like this. This isn't as bad, but apparently they have no utensils for customers to use. At one point I'd ordered delivery, but had forgotten to ask for chopsticks, so I reached out to the front desk (again, via my personal cellphone) only to be told they didn't have any utensils to send. Other visitors should also keep in mind that there are no parking spots in the hotel. At all. So you'll have to find some place else, then drag your luggage to the hotel. Definitely won't be returning in the future.

사진에는 분명 욕조가 있었는데 문의 드리니 이전에 손님들이 욕조 있는방을 요청해주셧다고 하는데 이해가 잘 되지않앗어요 화장실은 계속 냄새가 올라오고.. 면도기는 개인걸로 가져갓는데 버려서 다음날 면도도 못햇엇어요.. 하루숙박인줄 알고 버리셧다는데.. 그럼 다른 물건들은 왜 안버리셧는지..
