We arrived for our second stay at Scrub Island Resort and were met at the dock by our butler!?! We had booked a suite, but had been upgraded to a villa (which came with butler services). The accommodations were lovely and the service at the hotel and the restaurants was perfect. Our first ever butler, Sadiq (with back-up from his colleagues), went above and beyond to ensure our trip was perfect. The unpleasant shock came after checkout. Not only did the hotel bill us, appropriately, for the charges for our 5 night stay, but they had placed multiple credit holds during the stay. This resulted in our credit card being unusable for ~$5,000. There is still ~$2,000 as a pending charge from Scrub Island, 16 days after checking out. Correspondence with the billing staff was unsatisfying. As I told them, I would have preferred that they billed the five nights lodging charges when we checked in vs. tying up our available credit. I had intended to cc Marriott on my correspondence with the billing staff, but discovered that the Resort had ceased being a Marriott property less than a year before. The experience left a sour taste in my mouth, and I am not sure we will return to Scrub Island Resort.
