Wir haben 8 sonnige Tage in Reykjavik verbracht. Das Hotel liegt wunderbar zentral, um verschiedene Ausflüge zu starten. Kurzer Laufweg zum alten Hafen und in die Innenstadt. Kleiner und schöner Saunabereich, tolle Zimmer und ein richtig leckeres Frühstück. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Die Lage des Hotels ist großartig, rein geographisch betrachtet. IsaDas 1919 liegt in einer verkehrsberuhigten Zone, direkt am bekannteste HotDog Stand Islands, der sich fast rund um die Uhr höchster Beliebtheit erfreut. Leider wurde an zwei Seiten des Hotels schon vor 8 Uhr morgens mit schwerem Gerät gearbeitet. Eher missgelaunte Mitarbeiter am Empfang, die z.T. der Landessprache nicht mächtig sind. Die Zimmerkategorien sind in der Realität nur schwer nachvollziehbar und werden auch von den Mitarbeitern weder erklärt, nach stringent unterschieden. Mal ist es ein Standard Room, dann wieder ein Deluxe Room, dann plötzlich ein Executive Room (es gab offiziell nur 2 Kategorien)... Die Zimmer sind ausreichend gross für ein Cityhotel und funktional eingerichtet. nDie Einzelbetten sind sehr schmal und was als breites Bett deklariert wird, sind zwei der schmalen Betten zusammengestellt. Jedoch gibt ausgewählte Fotokunst des Zimmern etwas Atmosphäre.

This one is somewhat tough to review. Service was 1-star. We received no instructions to enter and had to spend a fair amount of time on the phone (at costly international rates) to receive instructions. The instructions we received were not detailed enough. They did not mention entering through the restaurant to get to the first-floor rooms. Rooms on the second floor do not have to do this. The room itself was okay to decent. The kitchenette was nice, but the dishes were in the dishwasher when we arrived. The room lacked commonplace security features like an interior deadbolt, security chain, or a peephole. Combined with the strange way to enter the ”hotel” this made us feel uneasy. The fact that this hotel is not staffed and entry is through code would have been fine if detailed instructions were provided. Plenty of AirBnBs do this well. For the price, this would be much better value if they had better customer service and detailed instructions along with some additional security features. As it is I wouldn't recommend.

Ohne Frühstück befindet sich das Hotel an der Hauptstraße in Reykjavik. Zum Abendessen gibt es einen 24-Stunden-Supermarkt. Die rosa Schweine sind ganz in der Nähe. Natürlich wird das Zimmer sehr laut sein. 10 Minuten zu Fuß von der Kathedrale entfernt. Es gibt Küchenutensilien im Zimmer. Der Andrang an der Rezeption war sehr enthusiastisch und die beiden Leute lächelten vor Freude. Bei einem Kingsize-Bett beachten Sie bitte, dass bei Kindern ein Zustellbett von ca. 1,2 m und ein großes Bett von ca. 2 m hinzugefügt werden. Genug für 4 Personen. Genial

The location of the hotel is great. There is a great bar downstairs that supposedly has live music every night. The hotel is very safe, a password is required to enter at night. The hotel staff are nice and the rooms are clean.

We stayed here for one night when we first arrived in Iceland, and for another one night stay just before we left Iceland a week later! So I can honestly say that we would go back, in fact, we *did* happily go back! The hostel is clean and comfy and the staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. Late check-in for one of our visits was super easy too. They do a breakfast with a good range of nice food - continental breakfast style. The rooms are maybe a bit variable - one night we were in a basement twin room that was quite basic, but the other night we were in a beautiful studio room. The hostel has several buildings on the same street, so I suppose it’s just luck of the draw which is available when you book, but both of them were clean and comfy, so no complaints. I’d also say the price was good value - obviously Reykjavik is generally quite expensive but I couldn’t find a better deal than this. The location was great too, on a quiet street just a few minutes walk into the centre of the touristy area in Reykjavik.
