Had a very relaxing 4 nights in Casa Dolce Casa. The staff were amazing, very helpful in booking reliable transfers for us. The room was spotless and very well appointed. The views from the balcony were just stunning. The public pool on the terrace below was an added bonus at €20 per person. We had an excellent breakfast everyday on our balcony. I was attracted to the hotel from the favourable reviews and the fact it was on the road so no need to carry luggage up and down Ravello’s steps. Definitely a bonus as the gentle climb up the road to the square was preferable to me than the 180 steps ( yes I counted them!)

This hotel was formerly a convent and is adjacent to a beautiful church, and the setting is serene and beautiful. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are so accommodating and helpful that you could not ask for more. The room my wife and I stayed in was lovely and the bed was so comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice and the coffee was delicious. The staff were warm and friendly and the service given was among the best we’ve ever experienced. There is complimentary wi-fi ( a rarity these days with most establishments charging a small premium) . We had a lovely stay which was predominantly down to the staff and in particular a lovely lady named Theresa who always went out of her way and was so accommodating. Although the hotel is listed as a “Three Star” it feels like a “5 Star”. Stunning , and would not hesitate to stay here again.

We loved the hotel and the location. Minori is a small town with a “locals” feel which we liked. Visiting the nearby towns of Almalfi and Miaori we really appreciated the comfortable and more relaxed feel of Minori. The seafront is easily walkable down mostly narrow streets although some roads it can be busy with traffic at times. We spent a lot of time on the seafront just watching the world go by, and the locals! We found the bus service unreliable and when one did appear it was full and not allowing further passengers aboard. Use the ferry service from Minori if it’s running (it won’t run in rough seas), it’s cheap and efficient. We ate mostly on the seafront, there’s plenty of choice for eating out. Our hotel room was very spacious with a good size bathroom and it was super clean, the cleaning staff remade our room daily and it was always spotless. We had a lovely little balance, the only downside was that it faced onto the road and was pretty noisy, the Italians seemed to like tooting their car/moped horns a lot! The doors and shutters did block some of this out but at times it was really noticeable. When we might have had the windows open for the fresh air we found it was too noisy to leave them open. However, as we had such roomy accommodation we tolerated the noise. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice and good quality food.

The reason this is classed as a “wellness hotel” is because it comes with a free gym membership. If you’re physically unable, unfit or lazy, this is not the hotel for you. To get to this hotel was fairly difficult, there are 3 ways in, all require going up and down steep, uneven steps in various fashions. The “10 minute walk” (which is the quickest way), involves going up 60 steep steps, down 50 steps and through a tunnel along side cars, buses and vans , with no walk way, then through a walkway passage though the mountains to arrive at the closest point to amalfi town. The safest way requires you to go down 50 steps, up a long steep winding road of about 200 meters and up another 30 steps before reaching the passage for walking. The room decor is dated and resembles something that came out of a Wes Anderson film, worn down wallpapered walls with dirt and scuff marks, a shower that only half worked and floors that after a day felt like someone had danced around the room with toast in their mouth spitting crumbs. The bed was not to my comfort, was quite hard and felt more like stretched canvas over a frame than a mattress, this and thee pillows were nicely wrapped up by a throw that had been used by countless amounts of people staying previously. The hotel cleanliness was generally good, our room was made up each day and new towels were given, however the wood flooring meant that grime and dirt just stuck to your feet and I swiftly started wearing the flip flops for comfort. The service from the hotel on arrival was okay, we rang ahead and they informed us someone would help us with the heavy, large bags, however when we called, the single telephone line was being used and I decided to take on the fest of the dreaded 70 steps (bad choice). We were too early to check in, so we left our bags and came back later, when we got access to the room, we were awkwardly given a tour by reception, who left us stood outside the room whilst they got the slow small elevator up and our bags taken to the room, but it seemed more a quest for tips than service. If you choose to stay here, when tackling the stairs from the “beach”, I’d recommend you pay the few euro tip. Along this line, there seemed to be a fair few times (specifically at check out) when the elevator was broken. But this is probably my suspicious mind. The one positive I had for this hotel is the view, which I will admit is beautiful view of the coast and atrani. However, along with this view is a free alarm/clock 24 hours a day, 4 times an hour. The Atrani village clock strikes in the following times: Sunrise, sunset (16 times each) On the hour, for each hour On each quarter of the hour, for the house and the quarter Example; 7:45am= 7 dings, 3 small dings. When the doors were closed, this was not horribly audible, but noticeable and you can easily sleep, but it does get mildly frustrating and, admittedly, sometimes useful. Wir haben uns für unsere letzten Tage in Kampanien ein Hotel gesucht, das uns mit etwas mehr Komfort, Ruhe und ein wenig Luxus verwöhnen sollte... Begeistert hatten mich auf den Fotos der Pool, die Lage und der wunderschöne Garten. Leider haben sich unsere Erwartungen dann doch nicht ganz erfüllt, da es einige Punkte gab, die man auf den Bildern und in der Beschreibung nicht zwingend erkennen konnte. Vorab ist zu sagen, dass jeder mal einen schlechten Tag haben kann, deshalb haben andere Gäste vielleicht bessere Erfahrungen gemacht. Unsere Anreise (die doch recht abenteuerlich war, aufgrund der engen Gassen) verlief super, die Entfernung nach Salerno oder Cetara ist nicht der Rede wert... Die Begrüßung im Hotel verlief jedoch nicht sehr gastorientiert. Kein Lächeln, keine Erklärungen (nur nach expliziter Nachfrage wurde uns der Weg zum Pool und zum Frühstück beschrieben), kurz angebundenes Personal, das einem das Gefühl gibt, hier eher zu stören. Wir hatten ein Apartment gebucht mit kleiner Küche (im Wohnzimmerschrank versteckt), das offiziell nur 20 Meter vom Haupthaus entfernt liegt. Stimmt auch, doch mit Ausblick auf den Hotelparkplatz und der Geräuschkulisse stellte sich keine wirkliche Urlaubsentspannung ein. Der kleine Platz vor unserem Zimmer war wirklich stark frequentiert, so dass wir morgens um 06:00 von Motorengeräuschen geweckt wurden. Das ist bei dem Preis natürlich ärgerlich. Der Pool ist auch schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen und der Bademeister bringt einem ebenfalls nur auf Anfrage eine Liege und nach erneuter Nachfrage ein Handtuch. Schade ist auch, das hier nur bis 18:00 gebadet werden darf, so dass man nach einem langen Ausflugstag vor verschlossenem Gatter steht. Überall sieht man die Spuren der Zeit, was in Italien ja nicht unüblich ist, doch in einem solchen Hotel sollte man unserer Meinung nach schon ein wenig darauf achten. Der Garten war allerdings wirklich wunderschön (doch zur Hälfte zugebaut mit Hochzeitszelten, die wie eine feste und dauerhafte Bebauung wirkten). Überall führen kleine Wege hinauf und hinunter, was wirklich romantisch ist und zum Träumen einlädt...nur hinter die Hecken darf man nicht gucken...aber das ist vielleicht überall so... Abends haben wir jedoch wirklich hervorragend gegessen, und die Spaghetti Napoli für unseren Sohn (die nicht auf der Karte standen) waren auch kein Problem. Das Frühstück hat ebenfalls überzeugt, bis auf eine unfreundliche Servicemitarbeiterin am Buffet. Alles in Allem war unser Aufenthalt hier nicht wie erhofft. Schade eigentlich, denn das Hotel hat auf jeden Fall Potential wieder zu dem zu werden, was es offensichtlich einmal war.
