We spent two days in Quito following our Galapagos cruise and booked this very expensive hotel as a splurge to end our vacation. On the plus side, it is very beautifully decorated, our room was quite large and there were lots of fluffy towels and nice toiletries. We received a bottle of wine and some chocolate when we checked in, and the people at the front desk were very nice. But the negatives certainly overshadowed the positives, considering how much we paid for the room. The air conditioner was barely adequate, although we turned it down as low as possible, so we spent two uncomfortable nights. One of the main reasons for booking the hotel was to eat in their lovely restaurant, We even thought we made a reservation for our first night. However. when we checked in , we discovered that the restaurant had been closed for months and the only available restaurant was little better than a coffee shop, although they did serve dinners. The breakfast that was included in the room rate was very limited, with most of the other offerings an additional cost. Even at more modest hotels, we have enjoyed very nice buffets with many choices, but not at this hotel. And finally, our trip ended on a very negative note. The hotel is on a pedestrian street so we, with all of our luggage, walked to the corner with the bellman to meet our car. He didn't have a cart so we carried everything. While we were standing there someone took one of our bags, unfortunately the one with the presents we were bringing home to our family. The hotel never bothered to get in touch with me afterwards, although I guess technically it was not entirely their fault, even though they walk guests to the corner on a regular basis. But an expression of regret would have been appropriate and much appreciated. I really intended to give the hotel a “poor” rating, but decided in the end for “average” but only because the people at the front desk were so pleasant. But we would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

This a hotel with a bit of charm and character. Our room also has the widest bed I have ever slept in - positioned at either end it was possible for our hands not to touch both at full armspan! The breakfast spread was not as luxurious as in some hotels we stayed in but the egg station served up some comparable quality fare. In addition, the croque monsieur we had as a late afternoon snack / alternative to dinner was particularly good! The hotel was very accommodating about printing a 15 page document for me free of charge and also supplying some oxygen to our room when my girlfriend eventually realised she was suffering with the altitude! They also happily put the Champions League semi final on their big (giant) tv with English commentary. Security was very visible and provided a sort of personal protection detail for my girlfriend whenever she stepped outside to vape. This, alongside the remote lock that sounds like a prison gate being opened(!) does, however, have the double edged effect of making one feel a little hyper sensitive about safety! The only slight issue with the hotel is that because it is built around a central courtyard it is noisy when guests arrive/depart during the night. And because of flight times to/from the Galapagos and Quito this is quite a common occurrence. This hotel is differentiated from slightly more corporate / super-luxury alternatives but will still satisfy people used to that standard of accommodation. The service was excellent and they were very accommodating. No gym etc. We found a good little laundrette within a five minute walk that washed our entire accumulation of dirty clothes for something like five dollars….

I arrived in Quito a few days before an organized birding trip, and am so glad I booked at Casa Alquimia. The location was perfect for exploring the Centro Historico, and the hotel itself was a delight. It’s in a historic building that’s been thoughtfully renovated. My room was spacious and immaculately clean. The bed was comfortable, with enough pillows even for this pillow fiend, and the duvet kept me toasty warm through the cool Quito nights. Breakfasts were ample and delicious (REALLY delicious), eaten on an enclosed terrace with a spectacular view of El Panecillo. But the best part was the warm, welcoming attention from the owners and staff. A few additional notes, in response to common questions/concerns. There was plenty of hot water for showers (you do have to let it run for a few minutes to warm up). Purified drinking water was provided. The hotel accepts credit cards, but cash is preferred. As for safety in Centro - I took basic precautions, asked for advice from my hosts if I was uncertain, and had no problems. I will return here in a heartbeat at the next opportunity, which I hope comes soon!

Das ist ein tolles Hostel! Mein Partner und ich haben in einem privaten Zimmer über den Hof geblieben, mit herrlichen Tangerinenbaum, singenden Vögeln und Stringlichten in der Nacht. Die Zimmer sind sauber, sehr komfortabel und cool. Wir hatten das Frühstück und es war super geschmackvoll und frisch zu bestellen. Auch hatten wir Abendessen im beigefügten Restaurant und es war ziemlich gut! Sie schienen Veranstaltungen wie Kochkurse und ein wirklich schönes Weihnachtsabend mit Musik und einem DJ zu haben (aber wir waren zu krank, um beide zu schätzen). Das Hostel hat eine wirklich schöne Vibe, viele wunderschöne Mauern und Kunst, Orte, um aushängen und spielen Ping Pong oder Spiele, oder nur lesen. Wir mögen die Lage (historisches Bezirk) für unsere Zwecke. Auch die Vordertafel, Reinigung und Küchenpersonal waren super hilfreich und freundlich. Ich würde diesen Ort absolut meinen Freunden empfehlen! Beachten Sie, dass es laut der Bar sein kann, so dass wenn Sie absolut ruhig wollen, das vielleicht nicht für Sie sein kann. Wir haben nur Ohrringe verwendet/wir haben nichts damit zu tun, ein wenig Lärm.

Meine Oase in dieser Stadt, mit perfekter Lage im historischen Zentrum, eine Dachterrasse mit erstaunlichen Blicken und ein willkommenes, hilfsbereites Personal. Das Hostel hat ein koloniales Gefühl und ist sehr sauber. Blumen überall! Ein großes Frühstück mit einem smoothie, Omelette, Käse und Kaffee. Ruhig und ruhig, sehr sicher.

Wir haben hier drei Nächte geblieben, zu Beginn einer Monatsreise nach Ecuador. Das Hotel ist charakteristisch und geräumig, obwohl es als ein wenig runter in Orten beschrieben werden kann. Unser Zimmer war ziemlich groß und perfekt schön, aber fehlte ein Außenfenster und das Bett kriech. Die Dusche war ausreichend, obwohl der Fluss etwas schwach war und heißes Wasser dauerte eine Weile, um durch sie und die Tapeten zu kommen. Keine Sicherheit im Zimmer. Das Frühstück war ganz einfach, aber sehr schön und serviert in einem Essbereich mit guter Aussicht auf die Stadt. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfreich mit einem guten Kundenservice (nachdem es ein bisschen mit dem Abflugdatum vermischt wurde, hinterließ Alexander in unserem Zimmer eine sehr freundliche Entschuldigungsbemerkung). WLAN war gut. Die Lage ist sehr bequem für die Altstadt, nur wenige Minuten zu Fuß von Geschäften, Restaurants, Attraktionen usw. und es gibt eine billige Waschmaschine fast nebenan. Das Hotel arrangierte unser Taxi vom Flughafen und das ging reibungslos. Insgesamt fühlten wir es als eine gute Option, wenn Sie in der Nähe der Altstadt sein wollen.
