To be fair, the room was ok, the bed comfortable, and the communal kitchen all right, if somewhat dirty. However, when we requested that our stained sheet be changed, it was "no problem". The sheets weren't changed. The empty see-through soap dispenser in the bathroom was never refilled during our 4 night stay. Rotting bananas adorned the kitchen and the communal refrigerator was full of leftover food from seemingly long-departed guests. And to top it off, when we asked the manager if she could reserve an early morning taxi to get us to the ferry, she told us none were available early morning. This was a bald-faced lie. It should be understood that one of the main ways of traveling from island to island in the Galapagos is by ferry. Departures are at 7 am and 3 pm. Not only did we arrange by ourselves for a taxi, but there were literally dozens of people arriving at the ferry terminal by taxi as the sun came up. Maybe it's me, but I don't like being lied to. As experienced travelers, this was the first time a hotel, anywhere in the world, wouldn't arrange for taxi service . There are better places to stay in beautiful Puerto Ayora.
