Port Douglas Sands Resort

Unit great. Pool devoid of life . limited snd incorrect information from reception. Reception hours extremely limited. You are asked to dial 9 for reception but there is no phone. When offered a suggestion for loan travellers l- told too busy Told to wait outside premises for local bus they will stop- wrong - you have to ring up bus service- reception minimalistic Stay closer to town.

I had a wonderful stay. The rooms were so clean and comfortable and Ian was exceptionally friendly. When I return to Sands after my day at the conference, it feels like I am returning home. I am not sure if I will return to Port Douglas again, but if I do, you will definitely be my first choice of accommodation.

Quite dated but has everything, very clean, spacious, bedding and pillows very comfortable and very white. Loved the supply of towels aa well as beach towels.

Absolutely loved the stay. Awesome pool for a cool dip with the kids. All communication re check-in & check-out was spot on.

The apar**ent was clean and modern had everything that I could possibly need away from Home. Value for money!! Hotel management was 10 /10.Will be be back for sure

First of all accommodation is next to impossible to find in Port Douglas and much more expensive than other holiday locations in Australia. I had been searching for weeks for availability and eventually had to settle for this accommodation. At nearly $3000 for 8 days I thought it would be ok. Firstly it's not really a resort. It strikes me as a residential complex with some apar**ents available to rent. The place is generally quite run down and grotty. Our apar**ent was ok but small and just had one aircon unit in the main area. The flat had minimal kitchen equipment and the bathroom was very old, worn, and a bit dirty. We did have cockroach visits every night but I think they are very common in QL. The beds were on wheels and rolled around the minute you touched them! We also had no clothes airing rack for towels and the washing machine was old and filthy. Turned all our whites grey! Also, we never managed to track down this advertised 'free breakfast' there wasn't any breakfast on offer when we stayed. The complex is sandwiched between two roads, and the beach is accessible only by the busy main road. A shuttle bus runs into town regularly. The parking was a nigh**are. We couldn't park in our designated spot so we had to constantly try and find somewhere secure to park and ended up with notes on our windscreen when we parked in the wrong spot. The manager even told us to get out of his spot at one point! Pros: Small pool is safe and well maintained Staff are nice and very friendly Kitchen was relatively new Towel and bedding change if you stay 8 days Lots of towels available Cons: Main road to beach Need to drive to town Grubby and a bit run down Bathroom very run down Not a resort Parking an issue Split system in one room only Expensive for what it was

The pool , the grounds, the car park, and cleanliness are all absolutely fine. The quality of the apar**ent not so good. It’s small but adequate but the quality of the fixtures is really poor. The kitchen, and especially the bathroom are in a poor state with much chip board showing. The bathroom smells of mould infested rotting timber and is unpleasant. There is a door stop in front of the toilet which we all kicked in the night. What a crazy place to put it. The washing machine spins to tangle all the washing around the agitator but the clothes are left dripping. The wifi is not available inthe bedrooms. For what we paid we expect a certain standard that this resort fails to meet. It’s a shame because with a little money spent on renovating the kitchen and bathroom it could return to a good quality resort. .

Staff were great and very helpful. The pool area was great. The resort was about 15-20 minute walk into town. Rooms and living area were comfortable. The beds were ok but may need to update mattress. Port Douglas is a great spot to visit.

The Office staff, very friendly and helpful nothing to much trouble. The pool was very warm, should have more shade over the pool area.
