Last January I had the wonderful fortune of stumbling upon this place… and what an experience it was! I found Domus Oncinae after having walked 18 days from Roncesvalles. I have completed the Camino de Santiago Francés seven times in the last 15 years and I know how difficult and unlikely it is to come upon something truly original in a journey as well established as the Camino, yet the people at Domus Oncinae have managed to do so, and they have done it in a great way. The place might seem unassuming at first, after all Domus Oncinae is located in a relatively discreet and less traveled variant of the Camino, in Oncina de la Valdoncina. Once you step inside, you realize this is a very different place unlike what you might have expected. Calling it a “rural house” or “a high end albergue” or “a fancier than usual hostal” would be a disservice to Domus. In a way, it is all of those things, but the owners and the staff have made it something much greater than the sum of its parts. For those Peregrinos who -just like me- have walked long for many days, it is an oasis of silence, peace, privacy, delicious food and the BEST mattress I have ever slept on while on the Camino (trust me, I have tried about 250 beds). For those starting in León, this could be the perfect way to transition between the noise of daily life onto their pilgrimage. The rooms and overall feeling are quite minimalist, yet nothing feels sp****, enpty or lacking. It is evident that Juan Salguero and his wife Fabiola, the proprietors, have carefully chosen every single detail, you can tell nothing has been left to chance. The food was traditional and elevated, as well as abundant, and I let the owner choose for me, a decision which I do not regret at all. One of the most unique aspects is their philosophy regarding technology and sustainability. From beautiful headboards made from the old structural beams and ancient farming tools beautifully displayed as art pieces in a museum, to the convenience of usb ports and opening the door to your room using an app, their electric vehicles and solar panels, this is not only a modern accommodation, this is a socially aware vision and a solid passion. I like to think that if the late Steve Jobs had ever decided to enter the hospitality industry, this is exactly what he would have created. I have plans to stay here again in the near future and I can’t wait to strap my boots on and make Domus Oncinae, once again, an oasis in my Camino.

Very unimpressed with this AC Marriott property. Arrived on a Friday after a very hard week. Staff has been very hands off. Bathroom is outdated and below par. The worst of the worst was no food service, no room service, and basically no service on the weekends. Their restaurant is closed Fri, Sat, and Sun. Very disappointing after walking all day and expecting to enjoy a nice evening in my room. I’d pass on this property and spend your euros elsewhere. Done with Marriott in Europe after a several bad stays.

Was für ein tolles Hotel, brillante Lage, einfache Parkplätze und großes Personal an der Rezeption und Restaurant. Wirklich intelligente Zimmer und komfortable Loungebereiche, die Ihnen helfen, sich zu entspannen. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr hilfreich bei der Beratung über die Stadt Leon und begrüßen Sie immer mit einem Lächeln.

Schade, aber in meinen Augen ist die Renovierung nicht gut gelungen. Eine Kombination von alt und modern ist in Spanien sehr häufig anzutreffen und oftmals auch gelungen, aber hier hat man Zuviel getan und die Gemütlichkeit blieb auf der Strecke. Der Barbereich ist eine Zumutung und hat den Charme einer Flughafenwartehalle. Zum Glück ist die Fassade erhalten geblieben und das Museum. Die Zimmer sind supermodern, dafür lässt sich die Klimaanlage nicht regulieren (auch der Hotelboy hat es vergeblich versucht) und es war viel zu kalt (im September) im Zimmer. An der Badtür (ohne Klinke) habe ich mir die Fingernägel abgebrochen.

Das Hotel Santiago liegt 1,9 km außerhalb von LEON, das heißt 1,9 km vom Stadtrand entfernt. Das sind etwas über 4 km vom Zentrum aus . Wir kamen mit dem Rad. Die Fahrräder konnten wir in einem Vorratsraum im Keller abstellen. Das Zimmer fing zur vielbefahrenen Straße hinaus, die direkt am Hotel vorbeiführt. Zum Glück waren wir in einem der oberen Stockwerke, so dass der Straßenlärm erträglich war. Dass das Zimmer eine Badewanne hat, stimmte, allerdings war im ganzen Hotel kein Stöpsel für den Ablauf zu bekommen. Wir lösten das Problem auf unsere Art: Plastiktüte und 2 Steine vom Straßenrand - Baden war möglich. Das Schwimmbad war Mitte Mai nicht in Betrieb. Es gab kein Shampoo, Duschgel, nur eine ausgelaufene Plastikflasche mit Handwaschseife. Das Frühstück wird in einem Art angebautem Zelt angeboten, hat den Flair einer Jugendherberge. Die Auswahl war im Gegensatz zu den anderen Hotels auf dem Camino eher beschränkt.

Jedes Mal, wenn ich nach Leon gehe, gehe ich zum Hotel Abad San Antonio. Es hat ein sehr schönes Atrium neben den Zimmern, die ich liebe. Die Zimmer sind sehr groß und ich liebe besonders die riesigen Badezimmer. Das Hotel hat ein sehr modernes Design und ist sehr gut gepflegt, kudos!

Von dem Moment an, als ich in der Tür lief, war Carmen auf dem Vordertafel brillant. Mein Zimmer war nicht bereit, aber sie machte mich zu Hause fühlen und sie war eine große Hilfe bei der Bereitstellung von Informationen über die lokale Umgebung, Restaurants usw. Das Hotel selbst ist sehr schön mit geräumigen Zimmern und einem großen Badezimmer. Genau das, was ich nach einer Woche auf dem Camino brauchte. Sehr empfohlen.

Very quaint hotel with exposed beams and brick wall. The room was not entirely square which is somewhat charming. I was staying alone in room 104 which was perfectly adequate but if my suitcase had been any bigger there would've been no place to open it. As it was I had to Tuck it partly under the bed to get the Refrigerator door open. not only do the steps squeak - The floor squeaks and you can hear the plumbing. I had no problem sleeping with Street sounds or the squeak sounds i would still recommend it for the a**osphere. Staff was very friendly and you could order what you wanted for breakfast the night before. It's very centrally located so you can come and go if you're visiting the cathedral etc. That was handy for me on a rainy day.

Clean, nice and comfortable rooms in the best place next to the most important buildings and services of León. Full recommended. We'll be black ASAP. Staff very kind and always available. Complete and variated breakfast.
