OYO 7384 Rossitta Wood Castle

An Old Bungalow modified as a hotel, very unpolite behaviour by Mr. Sudhir, exorbitant charges for food and not tasty. When I asked, i will rate you low, Mr. Sudhir told least bother about rating. this is the importance given to review rating.

As we stepped into this lovely place felt so nostalgic. Like entering my grandparents home with all the old style furniture . Even the switches have been retained. But it has been modified to give us all the modern comforts. The beds were comfortable and we had good nights sleep all 3 days. The rooms overlook the courtyard filled with plants and tall trees. The wrap around balcony has wooden railings and chairs to sit around. A cupboard filled with books is there in case you feel like reading. Good WiFi. The attached restaurant was a boon. And has varied cuisine. The staff are wonderful and accommodating. Breakfast was inclusive and you have 3 choices . Each with some filling eats. The Hotel is close to the beach and just a step from the many roads lined with shops. The Archeological museum nearby has some interesting exhibits and details about Kochi. On the last day our suitcase lock got jammed and poking and jabbing didn't help. But the helpful Manager got us some tools and my husband was able to cut through! Jew Town is about Rs 100 ride away in an auto. Jew Town with its innumerable antique shops and cute cafes is a veritable Ali Baba s cave of treasures .

Stayed for five nights in one of the big upstairs rooms with terrace overlooking the courtyard. Comfortable bed, and tea, coffee and water all provided in the room. Location is perfect for a good variety of shops, restaurants and cafes and the beach walkway for a cooling evening stroll. Hotel manager Suveesh was very helpful and responsive to all our questions and requests, even providing us with a mosquito net for the bed and fan for the terrace. Excellent courtyard restaurant with great menu. A good breakfast was included. Tip: Try the nearby Cochin Club, off of parade ground for a refreshing dip (for a small fee) in their lovely 25m swimming pool.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Rossitta Wood Castle since it wasn't where I usually stayed in Fort Kochi and the room rates were so economical which made me wonder. But it was a delightful find - charming, quaint, well located and looked after by a wonderful team. It has a lovely restaurant and the biggest mistake I made was not having meals here, besides breakfast. I only tried the restaurant on the last night and the food was delicious - much better than other restaurants in the area that are on the must eat at list.

Character filled hotel but bedrooms are shockingly basic with dangerous plugs . No hooks in bathroom. More like a hostel but they’re not charging hostel prices . The staff are really nice and the restaurant is good . The location cants be faulted . Hot water is a bit erratic too

Only staid for two nights but wish we had staid longer. Had one of the big upstairs rooms, loved it ! Absolutely delighted by the BATH tho honestly the bathroom could use a little refresh but still charming. Good comfortable bed , tea and coffee , water all in the room. Charming courtyard restaurant and a nice menu, breakfast was included the choice was limited but juice and fruit a nice touch.

Visited The Rossita Wood Castle and lunched at their restaurant The Warehouse Café. Had a scrumptious grilled fish dish, selection of drinks and the ambience was calm and restful. Great place away from the hustle and bustle of Fort Kochi.

Was there for 1 night. the property gives a very rustic feel. It gives good traditional kerala house vibes. I got the 1st floor room. floor is wooden. it has old style switches. Located close to water front. Very helpful staff. Best part is they have a restaurant/cafe which serves amazing food. we just loved the food.. all freshly prepared. Appam with chicken curry, Fish pollichathu. puttu kadala was all very yum. few downsides: there is wear and tear in the property. my room didnt have a telephone, but they gave me a mobile number where i can call for anything. I was not able to switch on the AC, it seems the AC switch is at the reception and I had to tell them to check. Hot water is an issue ...Geyser is solar..so it takes a while for hot water. night time expect insects coming in. I had insects falling from the ceiling all over the bed. had to switch off the light to keep them from entering the room. I guess these are expected as its a very old setup. My stay experience I would say was average. But the Food is awesome.

Mr Suvesh, the hotel manager was courteous and helped with an easy check in and a paid upgrade. If you are spending a day or two, I recommend the traditional wood rooms. Yes, this hotel is falling part but for periodic band-aid repairs. The doors are quirky, and the floorboard is squeaky - but hey how often can you stay in a century-old dutch house. Best part is the cleanliness with which the hotel maintains the place. Food is very average and expensive. Avoid the orange juice - the chef blends bitter seeds into the juice. The hotel not only arranged an auto at unearthly hours before dawn for us to reach the station but ensured we got a fair fare. The Vypeen ferry whih costs just 3 bucks is walkinh distance away. Overall a wonderful experience.
