Great location, right by the gently sloping sandy public beach, which has camels, horses, dogs and cats. The hotel has its own private beach area plus beach bar, and fire pit. Two restaurants and room service. Good facilities for yoga (three classes per day) with a great teacher, a small gym with some equipment outside (exercise with a sea view!), personal trainer options as well as one exercise and one stretch class per day. Spa with hammam, we had a couple of very good massages. Outdoor jacuzzi by the relaxation area (with big beds and hammocks), although the water wasn’t ever really warm enough to use it. The hotel is thoughtfully landscaped with lots of vegetation. Nice, good sized rooms with lounge/dining/kitchenette area and balcony (we went for junior suites). Kitchen includes hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker and a couple of pots n pans, but really not much in the way of cooking implements, not even a sharp knife; and no washing up liquid, dish cloth or tea towel. The hotel is generally pretty clean. There’s an ATM in reception. There are a few small convenience stores right outside the hotel, selling the basics including fruit, tea, coffee, snacks and soft drinks. There’s also a small pharmacy across the road. Some of the waiters had perfected the art of avoiding their customers’ eye which was a bit annoying, and the service was in general slow with a couple of exceptions. We faced quite a bit of confusion because we were on a full board package, but kept being presented with bills that included the food. We felt there should be an easier way to manage what package each guest is on so they’re presented with the right bill first time; we went through the same rigmarole with pretty much every single bill for the whole week. We didn’t drink that much but the mojito cocktail was a bit odd, didn’t seem to have much alcohol but did have crème de menthe! They ran out of Casablanca lager on day two. Be aware that half and full board just includes food, no drinks other than tea, coffee and juice at breakfast. Although we did have 1.5litre water bottle every day, delivered to the room. Also, there is a maximum spend per meal which we weren’t informed about until after we’d breached it. That could certainly be clearer - apparently the indoor restaurant has a special menu for those on half/full board, but we weren’t told that and instead were just presented with the a la carte menu. Just to note, there are a number of dogs and cats that have free roam of the outdoor areas. They all seemed pretty chilled out and friendly enough. We enjoyed our stay. But, very disappointingly, we got food poisoning on our second evening at the indoor restaurant (fish) and were out of commission for two days.
Sehr gut
